Roundabout is our mashup of Rythm and Card Games in a Roguelike setting.

cartas2.gif

You control a party of not-so-medieval musicians that use their music to deafeat their foes. You only have one compass (8 beats) to act in each turn, so you have to plan your music (as well as the attacks, heals and effects) wisely!

ataques2.gif

Each character also have a chance to shine and deliver a mind-and-enemy-blowing solo!!

solo2.gif

Hack and Slash through the dungeons and get more gold to become successful musicians... and heroes!

====================

HOW TO PLAY: - Select your cards and click on "End Turn" to apply the cards' effects. - Each card's color refers to one character. - The yellow bars are the card's cost (how much they fill the compass). - If you fill the 8 beats with a single color, that character will perform a solo. - Solos kill all enemies on screen - and look cool af. - The game does not have an end, but we challenge all of you to reach the level with 5 Ogres!

Love the art style and a really cool idea, having the sounds add on to each other and build up would be a nice addition, but really impressive for time it was done in.

The comment above where they could sing as a band seems like an awesome addition. I liked the main mechanics of the game, trying to figure out how to handle you hand order previously too the fight is interesting. I just feel like it could have more musical concepts related to the attacks to really make the musical part shine! Nice entry!

The game went pretty monotonous until I realized how to make a character shine. Then the real fun began!

Unfortunately I could not finish the game because a strange bug appeared when trying to shine a drummer. However, it was really fun! It's like a classic D&D party claiming themselves rock stars: strange, but surprisingly effective. Card mechanics is very well designed, I love it! Also, graphics is awesome!

btw, keyboard control in menu works really strange, you may better get rid of it.

I love the character's solo time! Each time the blue guy singing makes me laugh.

It could be great with some background music (As a Rhythm Game).

Holy moly I loved this one. The character sprite design was AMAZING. As was getting those sweet, sweet solos. I wish using all four characters in a round did something different. Needs an ending! Nice job

All I'd like to say is, if you could make a soundtrack where all these solos fit perfectly together, then it would be a game I would enjoy playing a lot! Otherwise the soundscape was quite barren.

The game's visuals and audio are great. This game is hilariously fun to play, and definitely takes a new spin on the classic hack and slash. The game gets a little boring after a while (but you would have to play A LOT of the game before you get bored). Brilliant.

Excellent game lads! It would have been nice to have background music playing and have the cards play on the beat. All in all I loved the artistic vision you had with the game and had fun playing it and watching it be played on stream!

Nice game! The gameplay was rather fun and interesting.

A minor point, but I did wish the rhythm part was a bit more prominent. It's really just personal preference though.

Anyway, thumbs up on a game well done.

The mechanics in this game are really nicely polished and fun. It kept me playing for quite a while. But for being musically themed, i really wish there was some more audio to keep driving the pace!

This is pretty neat, but I think your graphics were bugged when I was playing the game -- many of the enemies didn't show up, despite there being a black bar floating (presumably) above their heads. A goblin appeared with a black bar over its head after the first wave of enemies, so I assume the initial wave was missing its graphics.

Cool stuff, plays really well. The shine/solo thing is a nice touch. Did I hear a bit of Pick of Destiny in there? Haha. As others have mentioned, it would have been incredible if you had a background track playing, and matching the musical attacks to that beat, but I imagine that would have been quite a challenge.

I love that you play as a band! Rad! Just next time maybe try and find some good background music to set the scen ;) other than that, great game!

As others have said, not having music really hurts this game. It would be so great if each beat of the compass as you put it would sync to a background track.

I liked the artwork, and that the cards color matched their character.

If there were any sort of combos, or tricks to getting solos I didn't find any here. I only got one solo, to finish off an already badly damaged goblin.

It felt pretty random as to how much damage the different moves would do. It would be nice to have a better indication of how much damage a particular move would do.

It kinda sucks to not be able to target the attacks or heals.

That brings me to maybe the biggest problem. Heals always target the lowest health party member, which includes trying to heal dead party members. That's not good.

Overall I really like the concept of the game, I just with there was a little bit more too it. If there was I could see myself killing a few hours with this game.

This game reminds me of Slay the Spire. The feedback system is done well, except for a few things. I couldn't really tell if my combos were doing extra damage because I timed them with the same color note. Simply making the note larger if I timed it correctly would have fixed this problem. I was also confused whether I should play a card in front or behind the line that a note of the same color was on. If that doesn't happen and those notes were just for decoration, that's definitely something that could have been implemented. Those notes should have been a different color if that wasn't the case. It gives off the impression that you can time them.

The art was well done, but the overall mood of the game really needs work. Other than that, it's a cool game!

EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention, which actually added to the mood a bit, is that the character blirbs were hilarious.

This was very fun! I really enjoyed the idea of having combative bards, it reminds me of an off the rails DnD in some ways. There are a few weird things about it though. Evidently, you can have beyond the grave solos lol. I wish you could control the target of the card - if there was a way I couldn't figure it out. It made the healing cards pointless once an ally was down because the healing would - uselessly - go to them. Other than that, great game!

This game somehow reminds me about Bard's Tale and LOTRO minstrel class=) I like how you can actually get different battle track each time. A suggestion for polishing is - could be even more gripping if samples had less pause between them or form a common melody based on come kind of background rhythm.

Enjoyed the game very much, although didn't figure out targeting system if it has one =)

I liked the game. There some improvements that can be made. This is a game all about sound, so making it that the sounds come together on each compass would make it more appealing. Possibly making the some of the animations a little faster could also streamline the game for longer sessions. Also on the topic of sound, I miss the sound of the enemies, the game feels too quiet at times. I like the card system and the special bar, it makes the game stand out. I also enjoyed the concept. I played online and, for some reason, el detonador bar was broken. When I tried to withdraw the cards the spaces on the compass bar remained filled with blue, allowing me to use a special without the necessary cards. This eventually broke the game after I minimized the window with the bar full.

WoW! This was fantastic!
Pros: Awesome music and sounds; Idea; Fun gameplay
Cons: Turn combos could be played faster so it would make the music flow smoother. Now it sounds a bit unsatisfying when you play all those awesome songs :)

I really liked your game. I'm just a bit sad that there is no music at all when the fighters aren't using any moves. Plus I wouldn't say it is a rhythm game because rhythm games ask for doing something at the same beat of the music, which isn't the case here.

There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said: great idea with great execution for a jam game! I also wish there was music, but I realize how tough that would be to make it sound good with the game.

I really appreciated the fact that each character had unique sound clips for each attach and made it a fun meta game--try to chain cards together in interesting ways to make a mini song! Once you get a solo though, it's all over. You start to only want to get those! I think a band combo would be really cool--if each person gets a spot in the song, they all jump together and play simultaneously.

Great job!

The solos were hilarious, I kept playing until I'd seen all of them. The keytar one, especially XD
The concept of a band-based fighting system is very innovative, you get plus points for that! But once I'd seen most of the attacks(totally funny) I felt that the game loop got repetitive. Some more visual feedback would've helped, I believe, and no flow-breaking pauses between the card plays- so that it'd feel more like a continuous track. But still , awesome experience, made me laugh a lot.

Thank you for watching me stream your game at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames tonight.

Interesting premise, but it could have used a better introduction to how the cards work and I'd like to see variety in the musical interpretations of the band members. It was musically themed, but not really a rhythm game, but overall it was fun to play.

So this game was nice! I felt the lack of music but i understand you didn't have so much time. I also found a bug. when you load the attack and the cancel it the compass bar will not get cleared, also you should put a description of what each card does. You could polish it a bit now you have time this has a good potential. Good Job and keep it up!

Neat game, I like the solo artist spotlight feature. The strategic aspect of the game feels a bit easy, so might want to
ramp up the difficulty a bit. Check this Let's Play video for more on it!

This is a really wonderful concept that I think only really lacks in some polish. Some additional variety to the sounds and animations for the character sprites and some kind of adventure mode between battles would make this a top notch game. The stuff you have in place now already is wonderful, though, and I really enjoyed figuring out how to get a solo which delivered on the promise to look "cool af"

IS THAT A JOJO REFERENCE???

But anyway, my thoughts on this:

Really strong gameplay, really poor empty sound space between actions. Idbecoolif you made some background music that is always playing, and all attacks actually strike in the rhythm of that bg music. And some team combo (2/2/2/2) would be great too.

Hey there, I really like mostly everything about this game, the graphics were awesome, the sounds were great, the gameplay was fun, well what I played of it was. I felt the difficulty spiked sooner than it should have, but it was still very fun. I can't wait to try it with all the features you told me about. Let me know how and when the game progresses, I would love to test it out. Nice work!

Very beautiful art. It lacked a little finishing, for example a song that combined with the arcordes of the blows. Congratulations for the game.

I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.

I hope you continue with the project.

Hey Mancha & Osório! I replayed your game tonight and I have a few constructive feedbacks to give.

First, congrats on finishing and delivering the entry on time. It's always crazy and sometimes traumatic and doing that is already a victory in my book.

Now onto the game, I really liked the looks of the dungeon. The background looks really cool, I was expecting to see more of it! The Rhythm part I must be honest, it just felt like regular action points with a different UI. I was expecting something that would be more connected with music. But overall, that's a good lil RPG you've got there!

Wow! Thanks for joining the stream, it was great having you on! :yum:

Where do I start? The gameplay was really fresh with the cards and roguelike genre, the sfx was so fitting and all this set with lovable characters and enemies

There was that one glitch with the dead solo but it was really funny!

A cool idea for further development would be that gold could be got through busking with the band :yum: Or the enemies die and leave some 'tips' for their good performance haha

But yeah - Honestly a pleasure to play, I wish you the best for the road ahead!
