somewhere in the woods is a game I made. I advise you play it until the end, or it won't make sense.

me fame u game

Hmh lets see, the first and almost biggest problem for me was that main menu buttons did not really work, therefor I somehow launched into the game but didn't knew that I could damage the enemy. Then when I was able to kill the first enemy the second one was way to hard and I was killed instantly ... Then I quited because I did not want to redo everything. Maybe a sort of save system for every enemy would be nice. Well the rest is pretty basic I guess, however I really liked the menu animations!

Gameplay was definitely interesting, frustrated the piss out of me though with the mouse, but I think it was due to me having three monitor setup and I would go out of range too easily. Great job getting me to gave a mental breakdown on live stream!! <3 Beginning menu was a problem though, that delay on being able to click was a bit annoying.

@me-fame-u-game There was intentionally no save system, it's to add the the difficulty factor. I've also noticed that mouse controls can be a little finicky, but I've found that un-plugging and re-plugging your mouse seems to do the trick.

Good game, it's true at the main menu controls take a while to start working, at least in small window mode, when I switched to full screen it worked fine. It was nice to see the different kind of attacks, and that every enemy had their own. as an improvement I'd like to see some effect, even if it's a blink that confirms that I'm hurting the enemy though, buuuut well time is short my friend :)

Good game, had fun for a while

@xarras Thanks! The intention was to make a bunch of unique attacks to 'spice' the game up a little. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Well, a really good game, the only problem i see is the diagonal attack of the second enemy. It is impossible to dodge :/ but apart from that a really cool game :)

When you attack there is no bullets at least on webgl and I no see the reference to "sacrifices must be made".

@potatuetata: I guarantee that every attack is beatable, or your money back.
@adrian-guevara: If you beat the game, you'll see the theme reference.

It was fun, and I also died to the second enemy thats tough but after a few tries made it past him then I see the third enemy thats when things got crazy and I havent beaten the game sadly. The good parts are the sound effects and its fun to play, bad I think the enemies have too much hp.

@digitaldude555 Yeah... I expected the enemies to be hard, but not to the point where nobody can beat them hard. Thanks for the feedback, though!

Interesting, I can see from other comments I wasn't the only one, it seems when the game starts there is a window period of several seconds before you can interact with the menu, which is a little confusing to begin with but after some spam I got there :p It was difficult to see visually how much damage I was doing or when/how I was hitting, so perhaps some visual representation for that would have been nice, e.g. projectiles or maybe a pulse and sound effects to compliment them. The mechanics for the first enemy where somewhat simple, and tbh I thought that was it, until I finally killed the enemy on the 2nd attempt and realised there was a much greater challenge ahead. Overall I'm quite competitive and found the game quite fun with it's challenging nature. Some more visual aid for the player would have been appreciated however I love the projectiles and patterns from the enemy and think with some fine tuning this could become a great game, perhaps with a future application on mobile as the theme is similar to some games I have played and seen before, good job :)

Not really cool to ask for ratings on the front page if you have a negative balance.

I have to say it was pretty annoying not being able to click on menu buttons. It's not related to the core gameplay but I was already bored before I played :/ otherwise the game was cool, I just didn't play it much since it is too repetitive and, in my opinion, a bit too easy! But cool entry overall!

Yeah... Sorry dude. I didn't realize how stupid that post was until now. Sorry. Also, thank you for the edit above.

Haha Well, it happens... Big thumbs up for being humble.

About your game, I didn't like it, to be honest. The menu doesn't work and you didn't care to fix it. The gameplay is not creative or interesting to me, the "avoid shots and wait to click" is unneeded, since there's no skill in clicking. Also found no conection with the theme.

You surely can do better. We are always improving. Good luck!

This is an very well made little game, and for me the best part of this game was the music. Sadly I found the game to be way to difficult to get to the end, so I have absolutely no idea what the reveal is. Overall this is a fine LD game. Well done.

Well... Technically this is a game.

Having a tiny bit of feedback on "clicking" phase besides enemy health going down at the end of it would have helped a lot.

Also having only 1 axis of movement in bullet hell feels constraining.

The sacrifice mechanic is not well represented. Being subject to an attack you can't avoid it not a sacrifice as this is not your choice to hive up your health. It is just BS boss move. If I was making a game like this I would have made a mechanic where you can "sacrifice" one health to put a mirror image of yourself which will help you damage the boss, but will make avoiding bullets tougher so it is likely you will lose this image pretty soon.

@jk5000 - Thanks!
@hilvon - That could be cool... But I think you misunderstood my interpretation of the theme. If you would like to try to beat the game, you'll see the theme oriented reveal.
