Super Power Frenzy by AlexanderTeaH

An arcade style shooter with realistic physics and vast hordes of enemies! Made for Ludum Dare 39 as a jam entry.
Quick gameplay run-down:
The game is quite hard at first, but very rewarding if you last long enough. You can use the gravity from the planets (the boundary is marked with dotted lines) to recharge your ship. Pick up the pink boxes to increase max power and gain full power instantly, pick up the blue boxes to change to a random new weapon, but be careful, some weapons consume a lot of power (especially the super heavy auto shotgun), so use them wisely and make sure your max power is high enough! Also, you will eventually be overwhelmed and run out of power, just sayin'.
Features: - Various guns - Hordes of enemies attacking from all sides - Explosive effects - Realistic gravity and movement - Lots and lots of death - Full XBox One / 360 controller support
PS: I highly recommend a controller for this one!

The controls took some getting used to but otherwise responded like you'd expect from a spaceship.
Overal a really nice job!
* Nice mood
* Simple yet effective graphics
* I liked the boundary mechanics
To work on:
* The controls were very frustrating (I used a controller). I couldn't stay alive for more than 5 seconds
Note: Used keyboard controls
The only thing, in my opinion, would be to make the controls a bit easier to use.
Very fun game!

Very fun game!
Good jobs, nothing to say, the idea is good and well designed ;)
Minor nit: some enemies were harder to see because of the darker color.
I love this kind of top down asteroids style shooters with a twist. Overall great job.
controls are hard to get
good pacing, I really liked that !
although very simple its is simple and well done.
i only played about 10 minutes because i dont really like this kind of game but you could improve by adding more simple effects like screenshake and adding some more weight to the wepons.
i didnt figure what those orbit where because they didnt seem to suck me in a lot, but the powerups rotated that was nice
very good game
Loved the graphics, very clean and to the point, though sometimes it was hard to see the enemy ships. The soundtrack is awesome, though since you opted out of audio I'm guessing you didn't make it. All in all great game!
This is fun, and I'd probably play it again. Other feedback... It gets a bit frustrating starting so many games where you die before you get the chance to reach a pink box. Quick restarting is appreciated tho and helps soften the blow. I know we're not rating for the music, but given how much I tend to die, I'd suggest not making the music restart when you restart the game.
Nice work!
I like how the better weapons, like the automatic shotgun, are as good in killing enemies, as they are in killing yourself (by using up all energy). I think it would make sense to combine the health and weapon pickup, so you refill and extend your max-life and get a new weapon at the same time.
My criticism may be that the max speed your ship quickly goes to seems to be out of scale with the size of the arena. Perhaps this is just because I still haven't gotten the hang of it as I said, but it's an observation.
Really cool game though.
First time I play it, I though is too hard to control the ship. But the more I play it, I realize I can't be greedy by keep holding down "W" to moving. Just to slightly tap and the ships is under control.
Also I like the gravity that affect the bullets. My only problems is there are some enemy that hard to be distinguished with the background color.
Good Job..
The music is pretty good too. But the controls... they are very, very tedious. I couldn't stop dying and dying again and again a few seconds after starting a new round! For me, this didn't allow me to enjoy what, otherwise, could have been a superb game experience. Even after playing for quite a while I couldn't take out more than 13 enemy spaceships, everything seemed out of my control.
I also see problems with how close the refuel zone is to Earth, the fact that touching the Earth kills you, and that she pulls you in when you are inside the refuel zone. The combination sure is deadly, but the loose controls just throw a wrench to the chance of getting used to it and somehow balancing it out yourself. I would either make the radius of the zone larger and nullifying the pulling-in, or making the radius way larger, as well as making the controls more tight and less extreme.
The gravity mechanic has potential, and the possibility of using the Earth and the Moon as shields/tactical locations "with a risk" is very interesting, but overall I see a great need for adjustment to make all elements of the game work as one, and work great.
