We are glad you liked it!
About the mispellings, our goal since the beginning of this project was to avoid player frustration caused by our chosen input method. So, based on our own typos, we created a list of acceptable mistakes. The original idea was to have a kind of health bar that would decrease whenever you mispelled something, but again, due to scope we chose to discard this idea. Honestly, looking back now, I'm glad we did it :)
Please, take a look at my game too: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/confessional
@Eudes Franco Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, we are not 100% satisfied with the audio as well but we didn't have a "sound guy" on the team so we had to improvise :) 198 commands it's actually really good for a first run. Our current record is 96 commands, but since we are the developers we don't count :) The current record from a user is 140 commands.
@Yozamu We tried to keep challenges and frustration in balance :) We hope you had fun during your play session! Thanks for the feedback!
@Rodrigo Denúbila Thanks for the feedback! I've played your game as well and it's really polished! I left you a more complete feedback on your entry page. Good job!
P.S. the graphics are great!
I made a fishing/racing game to 2 players. Call your friend and play hahaha. Any feedback is always welcome ;)
If you want take a look:
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/super-bass-racing
I really appreciate some of the subtle helpful features like accepting misspelled inputs and jumping onto ledges when maybe you shouldn't quite make it.
My only critique is that it was pretty hard to time the running and jumping in some cases, but that could just be my slow reflexes.
Overall, one of the best games I've played!

I had lots of fun, it is the kind of game where you want to try again and again to reduce your score, which gave it a lot of replay value. It had a nice sense of balance and structure with the way commands are introduced. One thing I liked about the art style was the CRT shader(?) it used, I couldn't help but notice how much that improved the presentation of the game, together with the "juice" effects like when you mistype a command. Great work, you really put a lot of thought into this!
@benhumphries Thank you! We're flattered by your comment, it really meant a lot to us. There are so many great games on LD41 and to be compared with the best ones is really meaningfull. Thanks for that, we're glad you had fun! Help us spread the word and get those 20 ratings!
@isaaclopinho Thanks for the feedback, we'll check it for sure!
@TheMadPangolin Thank you for the feedback! We are not 100% satisfied with the music either, but since we had no much time we had to improvise a lot :)
@Nick Rafalski Thank you very much for your feedback! We don't have words to describe what it feels like to be compared to the best games at Ludum Dare. We did our best to deliver a pleasant experience and a fun game. We are glad you liked :) About the timing, we are currently reviewing some choke points were players have more trouble getting through. Lastly, help us spread the word and get those 20 ratings!
@CaptainDreamcast Thank you very much for your feedback! You are currently holding the commands world record on Type 'n Jump, congratulations! The previous record was 114 moves from a friend of mine and as one of the developers my record was 96! So you beat us at our own game, congratulations! :)
But I persevered, and completed the game in a no doubt pathetic 7:57 with 186 commands.
The art, while pretty minimal, is cute and well done. The idle animation for the player is nice and bouncy. The music got a little repetitive, but suits the vibe.
Overall I am conflicted a little, because it was frustrating on one hand, but really pointed out the incompatibility very well. My frustrations are subjective in this regard, though, so I will score objectively. Nice work!
I’d love for you to review my submission as well.

Nice polish, music, art, aesthetic. Good job!
And I'm from ElysiaGriffin stream too, my username is Halesgaar there ^^
The game is really cool, that ending was tense man ! But it was so satisfaying to finish it 😁 Great job on everything 🙂
I win!! Sollyyy!
Great work!
@croewens Thanks for droping by! I'll check out your game too, I see you took a different approach and I'm curious to try it!
@caspila Thanks for the feedback! We're figuring out how to rebalance some things and let the gameplay as smooth as possible, but yet keeping the platforming interesting!
@Reality-Blind Thank you for the feedback! Hope you had fun during your playtime. We'll check out your game later too!
@aux Thanks for reaching out! Hope you still like us after those raging moments :) We're glad you liked our game!
@Bernardex New World Record! Hey @CaptainDreamcast, **HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER!**
@Deprecat Thanks for the feedback and thanks for noticing those design-related stuff. We put a lot of effort on this topic, in order to avoid player frustration due to our unusual input system. There are lots of things that are easy to miss when you get through but if those same things weren't there the player would definitely notice, like you mentioned. Hope you had a great time during your playtime!
Also very nicely done on the aesthetics, animation, and on the feel or the feedback the game gives the player. Working the tutorial hints into the level was a nice touch too. Well done.
@jin9310 Thanks for the feedback! We hope you had a good time during your play session!
@gamepopper Actually there is an STOP command but we see that many players finish the game without noticing it. The good news is that we are working on that and we plan to add other commands like "turn" or "jump right". Thanks for your feedback, we hope you had a good time playing our game! :)
@Dustyroom Thanks for your feedback! That's an interesting feature we did consider to add but in the end it didn't make into our scope. Since the level is fairly small we didn't consider it essencial for a full playthrough, so we had to discard it. But in a "full" version we would definitely add it. We hope you had fun with our game! :)
The most compelling part of the game was just the kind of feeling I got when I played Super MeatBoy - Despite dying in the same spot a few times I felt compelled to keep trying, as if I **knew** that I could make it. If you could capture that feeling and have it laced throughout the game, I think we'd have a really fun experience on our hands. To make it easier on you, the spot that gave me that feeling was near the end, where there's a saw at the bottom and 4-5 spikes in a row at the top and you have to manage to type it fast enough to make the jump.
In summary, well crafted game
Solid entry!
The only critique I have is that the music wasn't quite my taste and got repetitive very quickly. This of course could just be my taste though. Not a huge deal though because the rest of the game was absolutely amazing. Well done!
@rombus Thanks for the feedback! We're working on some small improvements on the controls :)
@finalspace @Mau Thanks for the feedback!
@jackrugile Thanks for the feedback! We tried to come up with a game that was challenging yet fair :) We hope you had fun during your play session. We totally agree with you about the music. We don't have a music/sound guy on the team so we had to improvise with our limited knowledge on sound design.
@BlakeMcDeezy Nice to hear that! That's something that usually happens and we're glad players are having this kind of situations of "almost dying but managed to type on the last second". We hope you had a good time during your play session!
@Adrien-Dittrick Thanks for the feedback! You almost made it to the end of the game then :) Hope you had fun during your playtime!
Also, I found out that the computer I was playing on had me missing a lot of stuff like the particle effects and even the explosion animation (nothing to do with your output, my work computer is just crazy restrictive). So I'm glad I came back to see even more details!
Great work as always
@Deprecat Thank you for the feedback! We hope that this extra polish improved the overall experience!
I love it.
The idea has been used but your game is better than others in my opinion because it is more playable. You can keep focused on your character and what happens to him while typing your orders, and that makes a really good mix between the two genres you chose.
I also liked the progressive aspect of the level, that lets you discover the orders one by one with use cases.
I will come back to it I think.
I could totally see this being played by a room full of enthusiastic fifth graders. It brought me back to the educational games I used to play.
A little on the challenging side, but I enjoyed the time I spent with it.
You can easily extend it with more advanced commands later that can include wait and sensor actions with branching and stuff like that. But, it should be possible to complete anyway with simple commands. This could make it an awesome game to play for coders like myself and more timing-skilled individuals.
Very nice graphics. The music gets old really fast though ;)
We tried to balance challenges and frustration in order to create a smooth learning curve. We hope you guys could enjoy it :)
Regarding the music and sound effects, we totally agree that those are not our strongest points, but since we didn't have a "sound guy" on our team, we had to improvise. We hope our players understand that limitation :)
Thank you again for all the constructive commentaries!
You can check out our game here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/educational-beat-em-up-punches-delivered-with-math
The music was too repetitive, maybe better no music at all than a loop that is that short and repetitive.
Also the Level was pretty taxing, after making one bad turn i had to start from way below, i think it is quite hard when you are not such a fast typer, maybe some diffuculty setting would have been good.
Ha, I ain't no average player! Kinda... (I just wished I made in like 9:59 or something like that).

Anyway, this's an amazing entry. The level of polish is great and I love that you took the time to add in typos of the commands as well.
My only complaint would be unnecessarily loud base audio.
@SecretPocketCat Hey, congratulations! I guarantee you that on your second playthrough you are going to go below the 10:00 mark :) Thank you for the feedbacks, we hope you had a great time!
btw if you wanna try out our horror + comedy game, its here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/memebumps would appreciate your ratings and feedback.
The music is a bit repetitive and tiring, but the visual functions very well.
Congratulations.
I tried typing 'walk' and 'run' and 'go' before I went back to the move list... those would make sense, right?
Oh, and I've escaped! ;)

would you mind rating my game?
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/lost-in-spacetime
@acoto87 @Strega Congratulations! Your perfomance was above the average. Nicely done guys, thanks for playing and sharing your scores! We hope you had a great time playing Typing 'n Jump!
@zeMenno Thanks for the feedback! Sure, I just left a review on your entry :)
Really nice game!
- thoughtful level design
- clever typing + timing puzzles (backing up for a running jump to give yourself more typing time)
- simple but self-explanatory graphics & interface
Great game!
Very Hard! It would be cool to have a slow camera at certain times so as not to be nearly impossible to get past certain places. I loved the pixel art ... enthralling!
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
I hope you continue with the project.
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/witchs-escape
@cristiano-m-garcia Thanks for the feedback! Your game is on my list right now, will give you a feedback for sure!
https://youtu.be/iBIyJGrxNAc
I wonder what the fastest possible time is... seems like 1:40 is probably a lower bound.
Oh, and suggestions: add a RESET command and a pre-process muting option, since the music is only an 8 second loop and gets quite annoying after a while. I have no problem with the sound effects, so I guess it would be good to separate out music and sound effects in the hypothetical muting options.
Also, I was randomly linked to [Richard's LinkedIn profile](https://www.linkedin.com/authwall?trk=gf&trkInfo=AQHVMBUCvrUpEAAAAWM4i6VQVpRtxqoijfGjCDqIG-6DX9UtZGc5STNiXZUE6t0QPE6tNHF092gzrYcU5xXjkluhQSva2jBEtkaIe1VOoLsnHI8GrU7aHjeOWuwt39Ep_9yxhmc=&originalReferer=&sessionRedirect=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.linkedin.com%2Fin%2Frichardnsilva%2F) directly from the game after one of my restarts, so that might be a bug. Or I just randomly clicked it elsewhere, but I don't think so...
**EDIT**: Yeah, there is definitely some kind of url linking error within the game, as I was linked here after another restart: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/vfx/shaders/fullscreen-camera-effects/pixelation-65554
I'm a terminal junkie, so controlling something with commands is the best thing in the world for me. That is probably why this game was a great joy. Good job!
As for suggestions, it is basically the same, as for all other command-based games I've seen so far. One day I would like to see more complex series of commands in one of these games (think UNIX pipes) - when you could type something like 'right keep 3s jump right keep 2s stop'. In Type n' Jump I can type several commands, but it seems to understand only the last one.
That can make the gameplay more varied and strategic, however, will remove the tension of limited time when you are rushing to type in the right command before running into a hazard.
@D-Studios Thanks for the feedbacks! We tried our best to focus on the level design, it was our number 1 priority during the jam and we're glad you liked it. Our rule of thumb while designing the level layout was to introduce new mechanics, train the player and add a checkpoint. Repeat over and over again, introducing slightly more difficult challenges. And lots of gametest too :) We hope you had fun!
@eToThePi-i **Wow, we have a new WORLD RECORD!** Congratulations on your run! And mostly, thanks for your feedbacks! We considered adding those types of commands but in the end we had to left them out of the scope of the project due to the jam time limitation. I totally agree with the music being too repetitive, specially if you play the game over and over again, but we didn't have a sound guy on the team so we had to improvise, unfortunately. Regarding the url bug, we have identified what is causing it! Thanks for the report! We hope you had fun playing our game and thanks again for the feedback!
@invader Thanks for the feedback! During development's brainstorm phase we thought about the possibility of giving a series of commands for the robot but we decided to stick with one command at time for two reasons:
1. We wanted to focus more on the platform part of the game, so precision and agility should be the main type of challenge.
2. I've played Quadrilateral Cowboy (a great game btw) and it has this type of mechanic but I didn't want to use it in Type 'n Jump. Even though I like the concept, it gets complicated really fast for my taste and I would have to wrap my head around to create interesting level designs. Due to the time restraints, we decided to take a more conservative approach, with something we had more experience, in favor of quality.
Thank you very much for playing our game and taking your time to leave us a feedback, we really appreciate it! We hope you had fun during your playtime! Btw, take a look at [Quadrilateral Cowboy](https://store.steampowered.com/app/240440/Quadrilateral_Cowboy/) if you don't know it, you are problably going to like it :)
The 2:02 time is shown in the video thumbnail, but the video starts with my prior time showing.
If you update the game, can you upload the changes to your BitBucket repository? I was thinking about compiling my own build.

@eToThePi-i It should be fixed now :)
@lexi Hey, that's amazing! I see you have posted a new screenshot at the post we made with 70 commands in 01:42. Can you post it here too?

Great job!
@eToThePi-i The challenge is on, keep it up! Let me know if you manage to do it! Good luck and thank you for your support :)
Great game, great concept, great execution, wow, I really loved it!
I'd love to see some secret commands tho. I tried to speedrun it typing "WIN" but didn't work :(
Congrats! Awesome game!
My only suggestion is to add arrows. Perhaps do something like a CommandPrompt where you press up and it shows you your last command? Again, Great game. Great job xD

@lexi Your turn! :smiley:
@eToThePi-i Wow, you nailed it again! I've just updated the world records. Very interesting strategies! Congratulations again!
@flying-cat-of-the-pepes Thanks for the feedback! Regarding your question, we added a small list of the most frequent typos we had during our game test but some variations may have gone undetected by our checking due to the jam deadline pressure :)
@Ethan-Kennerly Thanks for the feedback! We are still figuring our next steps, we'll see how it goes :) We hope you had fun during your play session!
The game is very well executed, aesthetically consistent and fun! I'm not sure how non-good type will feel about it, but for me it was pretty fun. Errors can be really disencouraging though, so maybe have some friendly checkpoints would help a lot.
Congratulations for the great entry, I see it getting a good position.
As a seasoned terminal user I do wish I'd been able to press the up arrow to get at my most recently used command(s) without retyping tho. c;
Overall really solid, polished and finished. Gameplay, graphics, audio... It's all there. Of course it seems some of the commands were newer additions not originally there? Guess maybe I played a somewhat improved version? Nonetheless!
Great music and sounds. My only complaint is the mixing. The music was very low compared to the effects and after decreasing the volume to a level where the sound effects felt good, I could hardly hear the music. :c
I've really got nothing else to comment on. Again, it's a really solid entry and the only thing I'd add is more levels, and of course we all know how little time there is for content in a jam. I'm always impressed by the few people who somehow manage to produce a lot of it. :p Really nice work!
My only grip: Some parts demanded typing way too fast (jump jump after the first "fire", or jump stop jump), which leads to frustration, since the ckeckpoint was a little far.
That said, very great game! Congrats a lot!
Do you have easter eggs in it?
@Ava-Skoog Thanks for the feedbacks! Indeed, we added some new commands post-jam (Turn, Jump Right, Jump Left) due to several feedbacks :) Regarding the audio, that's where we had most trouble, since neither me or Eduardo (the game programmer) have experience with sound design, so we had to improvise and the end result wasn't as satisfying as we wanted it to be. We totally agree with you.
@MestreRothLD Thanks for the feedback! We wanted to add easter eggs like typing "Finish" to finish the level or jokes whenever the player typed "bad words" but the time was against us and we didn't manage to fit them on our schedule :)
@maysick @Merlin-d Thanks for the feedback! We hope you guys enjoyed playing our game :)
