You like Aliens? You like COWS?! Well good, then we've got JUST the thing for you!
Hi there and thanks for checking out our LD44 entry for the topic "Life is currency"! Our approach, as you will soon notice, is that we don't necessarily view our player life as the titular currency, but rather those of the NPCs we abudc- erm, take with us.

It's PvP, so grab your girl/boyfriend/roommate/talking cat and get a load of this. Our game puts you in the shoes(?) of an eager little junior alien abductor who tries to beat his colleague (Player 2, ofc YOU are Player 1) at who abducts more cows in a certain amount of time - and keep them alive.
Why is the alive bit relevant you ask?
In the beginning your gear is moderate at best - budget cuts these days, no one is safe - but you can obtain valuable upgrades if you trade in some of your carefully collected specimen in return - which then obviously wont count for your end score. If the last bit made you think "Gee, then I'm just gonna save all my cows" let me tell you it's not always wise to be greedy - you know the old saying, you gotta spend cows to make cows!
This Game provides controller support (recommended way of playing) as well as old-school keyboard controls.

We'll work on providing a MacOS build, but for now you gotta stick to our windows or webbuild (fullscreen recommended ;))
(Just in case your brain melted down to some unrecognizeable goo over the last couple of days like mine, actually EXTRACT the zip before trying to play, not just double click lol.)

Hehe, I know the feeling but I did it as well, the trick is to pretend to just be better than Player 2.. :-)
Thanks again! You have to try it with another person, we tried to do it so the 2 players will battle for the first cow at the most obvious and nearest sport for both :D ]:)
The music was really good and appropriate for the game and the speed at witch it is played.
I also played it on my own and still had fun! maybe add a singleplayer mode where player 2 is an AI?

I donโt necessarily agree with PvP keeping people from playing :) we want to add an AI P2 though, so good call :)

@mrbrooms first of all, thank you for playing and your feedback! About upgrading without the shop I personally might have to disagree, because that's the challenge of having to manage your time to perfection to get the most cows, isn't it? :D I will admit however that the shop needs some more work, but you know how it is with LD builds, haha ;)
The different shops idea is quite intriguing, maybe we'll do some different levels and that could be one variation! Thanks for the idea and for taking your time to play and comment! <3
I love how you put effort on feedback (capacity full feedback is nice, and the input to rotate the ship is cool when you just going to point A to B.
I would recommend adding some sort of Speed Boost to add some struggle between players , and i also felt little colliders were a bit frustrating. I think the ship should be able to cross little environment props, and still not be able to avoid trees and big rocks : )
Agreed, some assets should be placed differently (because the colliders must be that way, haha :P)
About the speed boost thing, I had an idea that we add fuel, when you fly normally it doesnโt drain, but when you have a speed boost or hop over and obstacle or something it takes a huge amount of fuel and once itโs empty she ship sinks to the ground and you have to (noticeably slower) roll back to you base to refill for free. If you decide that would take too long, you can always mash up a cow or two for instand fuel refill :D
We also wanted to add some sort of beam from the base where you can also stun your opponent, steam cows etc, but you know how it is with LD, hehe. :) although weโd like to continue working on it :D
If anything I'd make the movement a little faster, as it can get frustrating trying to get the cows back to base and feels a bit of a grind .
A semi-guided movement would be good, so for obstacles like rocks/trees etc, the ship automatically moves around it without colliding.

Thanks to all your constructive feedback guys :) we really appreciate that you liked the game and we will definitely work on stuff like AI, smoother controls and game play improvements. As for the jam time we are proud to have gotten that far in 48 hours :grin:
