Mission Blue by olkeencole

[raw]
made by olkeencole for LD 38 (JAM)

You awake to the emergency alert system informing you of systems failure. You should be farther along your space odyssey while in cryo-sleep, but it would appear fate wants you to repair and reflect before you set out. Find the controls throughout the haphazardly constructed space station and restore power to speed your journey along. Wherever we are, let us never forget our place in the cosmos.

This turned out to be a classic example of overscope to the nth degree. I had had three sections planned out, and each of those sections in turn would have three mini-areas, and.....

Needless to say, I ran out of time, and so things like sound and simple conveyance clues all fell by the way side. Because i hate to leave things unfinished, I am posting a post-Jam version that is cleaned up, things are properly cut from the scope and sound has been added -- it is always amazing how much sound makes a difference.

I would prefer that you check out the postJam one, but of course it would be unfair that you voted based on that. I appreciate your comments and feedback about the game. If you have any suggestions, please let me hear them.

Thanks for playing.

I really loved your idea; it was one I have played with in my mind a lot, and so was really excited when the game started and the alarms were going off. I actually played the Post-Jam version first, and will say that your own assessments are correct, the sound made a huge difference. In fact, in the Post-Jam version I would even have liked more "success" sounds for each subsection of the puzzle, as at first I wasn't sure if I was failing. Still, great and exciting game overall, I hope you return to finish it in the way you intended, I would love to play it!

Definitely has potential, time definitely left a few things unfinished here, but otherwise a great concept. Not entirely too sure how this portrays to the theme (I could make *some* connection), but still I can't wait to see what your Post-Jam version looks like. Keep going!

Sadly I wasn't able to calibrate the life support(I think I pushed all the buttons)...but I enjoyed running around this spaceship entirely built from 1x1 prototype plating. The atmosphere was well done, the constant ominous rumble was a good touch and the alarm really conveyed some urgency.
The audio clip was a nice little surprise too.
