Chicken Planet

My compo entry for LD38! You control a chicken through a series of platformer puzzles. It's not that long of a game (had other errands this weekend as well), but I hope you like it!

To run this game, you'll need Java runtime. The game should launch by double-clicking the jar. If that won't work, try java -jar desktop-1.0.jar in shell / command prompt.

The JAR can be found here.

The source code can be found here.

Controls

Left and Right / A and D - move Space - jump

Note

The last level will repeat forever; once you complete it, it will just restart. :)

Love this game! The vibe is so cool. I did encounter some bugs, mainly keys spawning where there shouldn't be any, but overall, a really cool game. Music is awesome!

Great job on this! Your music is very catchy and the art is cute! About halfway through I ran into issues picking up the keys though.

Thanks for trying it out, guys! The key spawning bug is something I encountered as well, but couldn't figure out why it happens. You can still complete the levels, though! The keys that you can't pick up are simply left-overs from the previous levels.

This is a great little game. The idea for the game is simple and fun. The music is cool, and the graphics is simple and fun. Overall well done.

Very fun game, smooth jump animation.
Also had the issues with keys spawning where none should be.

I loved the music!

This game is great. In further levels it looks like some keys are not disappearing. Probably simple bug.
But game is fun, idea of gameplay is great. Have you thought about making it for mobile phones? Playing with accelerometer/gyroscope should be great.
