Something that threw me off was that there were similar words that came after one another. I have had a couple of strawberry into strawberry but there wasn't any audio/visual cues to let me know that I've completed the previous word.
Other than that, I love it :)
*Flurry of Italian words*
"...Oh god, I suck at typing"
I love the simplicity of this game! The art style is both very polished and very easy to process at the same time. The writing and humor were on point, and I love that everything, even advancing cutscenes, was done with typing. This is a super well-made game. Awesome job!
Art is good. Game over funny.
Good job!
- The bass part of the music made me think that I had made a mistake, I was confused
- When I made a mistake, I had to wait for the error animation to continue typing. If I realized that I messed up and continued typing before the animation was finished, it got me another error, because I had already typed a lot of things. It made me feel angry haha.
- Repeating words is not bad, but consecutive words I think are not cool on typing games. I had to type "mortadella" three times in a row xP. Variation is nice.
Things I liked:
- The pixel art is very beautiful!
- The change of music between gameplay and "cutscenes" are nice.
- Mafia theme is funny.
- Screen shake is juicy.
- The sound effects when you get things right and when the level finishes are satisfactory!
- The game has a well specified scope, with 10 lvls and a finish screen, I know how hard this is for a jam game xD.
- The "tutorial" teaching the core mechanic of the game being made into the "cutscene" to introduce the theme was smart and well done!
- I haven't noticed any bugs, my experience was smooth.
I love typing games, had fun playing it, congratulations!
The music looped a lot.
But overall, a good game!
As others already mentioned, seems to drop some inputs (might be a WebGL/HTML related problem?)
But personally I just couldn't under how your game fit the theme. Anyway, a very interesting and completed game.
But great job guys. Siete grandi!
- When I made a mistake it took me a bit to realize that there was an animation that plays and so I often lost more points because I was typing during the animation
- The same word being repeated made me mistakenly think that I had made a mistake and the word had reset
Despite those things though, this was a blast! Well done!
The words got a bit repetitive at times, especially in the second phase ("pineapple", "mayonnaise" etc), which lasted noticeably longer than the others. I think the difficulty ramp could have been a bit smoother - looking at the reviews, I'm not the only one who panicked a little when the Italian words suddenly appeared! I also noticed the same issue as @hunter-towe where the web build just sometimes doesn't register a key press - I type so fast that I couldn't tell when I'd made an actual mistake and when the game just hadn't registered what I'd typed.
I cleared the game on my first try with a score of 91, which I think is pretty good. Well done!
As asid before the only really thing that annoyed me was the mistake animation. The fact that we have to wait for it to finish is removing a little bit of the pressure that you build up during a round. I like my fingers to not stop for 1 second before starting typing again :)
Good job guys !
Besides that, it's a nice game and a unique take on typing games.
buuuut, I don't get why I need to type the mafia's speech as well, as it's not me who is talking.
Awesome graphics and cool sound, it really helps to create the game's mood
Congratulations, bro!! ^^
