One of the few times a game over screen made me laugh out loud. A lot of fun for just typing words. I don't think I've ever been so annoyed with the word "mayonnaise" before.

Haha, I liked this! The aesthetic is clean, the animation is bouncy. The music is a little too repetitive. The idea is fun, a silly twist on those old educational games. My biggest problem is that it's too hard! I couldn't get over the score needed to beat the first day in a couple of tries, and having to re-do the intro put me off trying again after that.

Pretty fun. It's a little too easy though. I noticed that day eleven keeps repeating... is that supposed to happen? Anyways, it's a solid entry, and the music is a nice touch.

@karmicretribution Thanks for the feedback! We are sorry to hear the mafia felt repetitive, we will shut them a bit on a future update, hope they don't fight back the lobotomy process.

I love this one! Really charming game, and an interesting (but strong!) take on the theme.

Omg this is so cute. This would be such a good keyboard practice game for kids. I would love to see more words with awkward spellings like - anchovies/weird/pharaoh (you get the idea). Or it could be some weird pizza toppings/names that the pizza may have (since it is a pizza typing game)

Something that threw me off was that there were similar words that came after one another. I have had a couple of strawberry into strawberry but there wasn't any audio/visual cues to let me know that I've completed the previous word.

Other than that, I love it :)

@duncan-soo Thanks for the feedback! We don't exactly know if we can update the game on the following days to implement those changes, but if we can, we will.

Wow... this is amazing. Perfect concept, perfect execution. As @dxk2294 said, it is an interesting but strong take on the theme. This game really breaks the stereotype of typing games being boring! My only critique is on the pixel art: the black outlines bothered me. Try to get some colors that match the fill color of an object while still being dark, such as deep red outlines instead of black on the apples or dark brown outlines instead of black on the character's hair. Keep up the great work, really excited to see what you do next Ludum Dare!

"Oh, a typing game. I'm good at typing!"

*Flurry of Italian words*

"...Oh god, I suck at typing"

I love the simplicity of this game! The art style is both very polished and very easy to process at the same time. The writing and humor were on point, and I love that everything, even advancing cutscenes, was done with typing. This is a super well-made game. Awesome job!

Haven't played a typing game in a long time. Good execution although it seems to sometimes drop inputs. That and the apostrophe doesn't work very well. Other than that, great art, good sound, good theme. Great job.

@carpin nope, i did some tests with pyautogui and its really droping inputs from time to time (randomly when delay between keys is less than 150ms). Didnt noticed any particular scenario unfortunatly :worried:

It’s too hard! I couldn’t get over the score needed to beat the first day and retyping again from the beginning is annoying and not fun, maybe you could cut that part and when you restart the game you begin from day 1. The pixel art is nice and also the idea!

Things I didn't like:

- The bass part of the music made me think that I had made a mistake, I was confused
- When I made a mistake, I had to wait for the error animation to continue typing. If I realized that I messed up and continued typing before the animation was finished, it got me another error, because I had already typed a lot of things. It made me feel angry haha.
- Repeating words is not bad, but consecutive words I think are not cool on typing games. I had to type "mortadella" three times in a row xP. Variation is nice.

Things I liked:
- The pixel art is very beautiful!
- The change of music between gameplay and "cutscenes" are nice.
- Mafia theme is funny.
- Screen shake is juicy.
- The sound effects when you get things right and when the level finishes are satisfactory!
- The game has a well specified scope, with 10 lvls and a finish screen, I know how hard this is for a jam game xD.
- The "tutorial" teaching the core mechanic of the game being made into the "cutscene" to introduce the theme was smart and well done!
- I haven't noticed any bugs, my experience was smooth.

I love typing games, had fun playing it, congratulations!

Man, I love typing games. The overall game was pretty alright, though I felt like it was too easy (but maybe that's just because I play way too much Typing of the Dead). The time I didn't make a net profit was the very last day.

Haha, a painful reminder how much I suck at typing. Lost on day 3 but it was fun while it lasted. Others probably have said this but sometimes a person will request a product twice in a row and the UI isn't really clear about that which is confusing. I like the graphics and music, feels good overall!

This was really surprisingly fun! The whole presentation from the music to the art to the animation is really well done. The difficulty curve was a little slow, but that is better than too fast for game jam game. My only real complaint is that getting the same word 2 (or 3!) times in a row is a little awkward to deal with. It's not so obvious when it changes because you think you might still be typing the last letter of the previous word, but the game has actually moved onto the first letter of the second word (same word in this case). Still very fun!

This is a really interesting take on the theme, although I'm not sure if it's necessarily the most fitting; regardless, I like it. The art is excellent and the music is also darned good! Sometimes it seems like the game isn't wanting to enter what I'm typing-- I'll press a key and nothing will happen at all. (Does it perhaps have something to do with me playing the web build?) Aside from that, this is a very good entry!

I really enjoyed playing this! The art, motion, sfx make the game really juicy and heighten the experience (great signs of a polished game)! My biggest criticisms are:

- When I made a mistake it took me a bit to realize that there was an animation that plays and so I often lost more points because I was typing during the animation
- The same word being repeated made me mistakenly think that I had made a mistake and the word had reset

Despite those things though, this was a blast! Well done!

This is excellent! It's more subtle with the theme than some other games, but I can see how it fits. I love the ominous theme that plays every time the Mafia enter the shop, it really sets the tone that you *do not* want to mess with these guys. It was a really nice touch making you type their dialogue as well, really made me feel like I was under their control.

The words got a bit repetitive at times, especially in the second phase ("pineapple", "mayonnaise" etc), which lasted noticeably longer than the others. I think the difficulty ramp could have been a bit smoother - looking at the reviews, I'm not the only one who panicked a little when the Italian words suddenly appeared! I also noticed the same issue as @hunter-towe where the web build just sometimes doesn't register a key press - I type so fast that I couldn't tell when I'd made an actual mistake and when the game just hadn't registered what I'd typed.

I cleared the game on my first try with a score of 91, which I think is pretty good. Well done!

Excellent game, it is so good to play !
As asid before the only really thing that annoyed me was the mistake animation. The fact that we have to wait for it to finish is removing a little bit of the pressure that you build up during a round. I like my fingers to not stop for 1 second before starting typing again :)

Good job guys !

05. May 2019 · 14:42 UTC
Fun game. Only real problem I have with it is that it doesn't register the key sometimes (especially when typing fast) and if you type the wrong letter you have to wait a bit before you can continue typing sometimes resulting in another mistake.

Besides that, it's a nice game and a unique take on typing games.

Excelent game, it is interesting how you choose to work with the theme, it's pretty subtle the way it fits (As mafia protects you but if you don't do what they wan't they will make you pay with your life)

buuuut, I don't get why I need to type the mafia's speech as well, as it's not me who is talking.

Awesome graphics and cool sound, it really helps to create the game's mood

Congratulations, bro!! ^^
