Planet Escape by jtoledo
Description:
"Planet Escape" is a Unity game made in two days (in our spare time) by our little team consisting of two Chilean Developers: + Jimmy Toledo Araya + Jose Miguel Lopez
Note
Prior to the 'Ludum server breakdown and the extention of submission time', we had the 0.5v that we published, but after that we made some small changes in the Effects component (Still before the new deadline closed), because some friends told us that the game were a little bit blurry, and we built the 0.6v, in GameMechanics and overral experience is exactly the same, so if for any reason, you wanna play the 0.5, you can click here

The player takes control of an adventurous spaceship lost in a desert shrinking planet. Collect energy rich meteorites that power up an escape portal to another planet, be ware of the dangerous subproducts generated by your ship when consuming meteorites, they will deplete your energy. Charge up and head to more shrinking planets! Good luck exploring the galaxy!

The gameplay itself is a little bit repetetive and I thought it is very hard. I propably missed anything, but I was not once able to get to another planet.
But all in all a great submission!
I hope I have been helpful.
Regards.
Everytime you picked and energy crystal, new energy crystals are spawned, also, 'bad crystal' (that depletes your energy bar) are spawned too, in order to balance the gameplay and make the game fit in the Challenge theme (Running out of space), also the planet shrinks itself a little bit every second.
About the repetitie gameplay, well, since is a short period of time for Game design, Development, Asset creation, Deployment, Community management and so on, we didn't had time to implement all the Game mechanics that we want, probably if the game has great reception from the community, we could keep adding interesting features to this game in the future.
I hope i have been helpful.
Best Regards and thank you for playing our game, and we are really glad that you liked it! :)
I hope my feedback didn't sound too harsh. I really enjoyed your game and love the look of it. I know that this is a game jam and the time is limited, so it's amazing what you have accomplished.
I just wanted to provide some form of constructive feedback in case you further develop your project.
It is a really great game you submitted :)
Thats why we decided to make 3 planets, each one with different characteristics, to make the game enjoyable, and we balanced things in order to make planet number 3 (The ice planet) really interesting as a final challenge.
So again, thank you very much for your feedback, and we hope we could continue the development of this project.
And if you play it again, feel free to post your high score, maybe after this tips you could be the next Planet Escape champion
this was a great game. Simple to understand, challenging, and I really enjoyed the soundtrack!
The game my team and I made actually has some similar themes, though our gameplay is very different...
On my first playthrough I died on the third planet only finding a single blue crystal after spawning there, I guess they're placed fully randomly? Just my bad luck. I scored 6400. On the second playthrough I had better luck on the third planet, and ended up scoring 20200 when the planet grew too small and I hit a bunch of red crystal that depleted me.
The graphics look pretty nice, but I feel there's some style inconsistencies with having a very voxel-looking ship on such a curved planet with round planets zooming by in the sky. The colours look pretty lush.
A solid entry!
If I had to find a flaw, I'd say that the vessel was kind of slow, but I guess making it faster would've meant making it more difficult to control
Anyway, keep up the good work !
