All in all one of my favourites so far
The gameplay is fun, but gets stale pretty quick. Some kinda variety (ball in the street, police chase, school bus stoppage, traffic jam) could really spice it up.
You really gave me a good laugh and **I could see this as a working mobile game**, like Crossy Road.
* Like @nick-rafalski said, it does get stale very quick. I suggest you go with his idea, like random events to spice up the chaos. I suggest different maps in addition to this, like a school crossing and an actual traffic light district.
* For me, this music drowned out the experience. The sounds are too high but good all the same. You at least tried. I suggest beeping cars like one of those traffic situations.
* As everyone would say, yea it was satisfying to see cars crash and all. Might be more funny if there was a sudden influx of cars coming down to pile it up after you lose since it really didn't matter at that point.
* I'm not sure if you're supposed to fail when a car pushes a moving car from the back. I was thinking it only counts as an interection crash.
This is a great entry to Ludum Dare. I would love to see people talking about this as one of those popular simple games you play on the mobile. Heck I might download it on my phone if it comes to that!
There are GDC talks on crossy road. You should watch them if you want to continue with this.
I love it.
A bit annoying to click the cars, didn't appreciate the fact that you didn't have a pause menu in case you wanted to exit the game.
Cool game and I expect high ratings for it, well done!
Congrats!
Ofcourse seeing everything go ham after you lost is probably the best thing! :D
1. Audio polish
2. Variable vehicle sizes (trucks, limos, motorcycles)
3. Pedestrian or Trolley car events
4. Time of day cycle... love to see this played in a night setting.
5. Rush hour mode (Quick jump to intense action for the veteran players).
Solid game, nicely done!
Good implementation 🙂, it was funny to play (and wreck).
Its also a lot of fun to lose though!
This game is gorgeous, by the way.
a little more city sounds would be an great improvement to the game feeling (:
Good job
There's not much else i can say, you nailed it.
Cool idea, and nice art style.
Damn you though for having this idea when I didn't! Would've been fun to make and it could really go somewhere with a bit more time to it! Something like random events or just having traffic lights instead of pressing every car could make it more mobile-accessible.
maybe even have the traffic lights but they only stop cars not already too close and some idiots (with a visual indicator) might choose to now stop. Who knows. Great game anyway!
As for the game, it is the first one, where losing is more fun than playing. Music is catchy, graphics absolutely fits the game. Sounds are not bad, but I would like to hear some kind of horn on near miss and maybe better crash sound in this game.

Bom jogo. Acredito que ele poderia começar a ficar mais difícil antes, e ter que clicar sobre os carros foi um pouco complicado mas nada que prejudicasse o feeling.
Score label is not very visible and the music is very annoying i think..
More car sound like honks could be great with a traffic sound in background maybe ?
Nice graphics :)
I like that you have to use the mechanic to start the game - it's little deign features like that that make me really happy!
The real question is: can I get this on my phone!?
I like that you can still watch the chaos after a crash. I would have liked some auto/traffic sounds for the mood.
Very well done!
Something to improve would be the score visibility, I didn't notice that it was there until the 3rd play.
The music sounds really like traffic jams. Good composition
The stress-relaxing when you lose is marvelous
Nice caught of feeling of "slightly annoying"
graphics are top and this is a very challanging little game : )
Seems weak on the sound side. Music gets a little annoying, in my opinion.
Great game :)
Music fits good, at one point it seemed like the cars started beeping but it was the music. xD
Good job!
If possible, check out my game I made with a few others, it's a card game with a twist: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/smash-smash-destroy-the-west-jangnanmon
You nailed it.
It is spot on the theme, the gameplay is really interesting and I had a good laugh when the cars started hitting each other when I failed.
Great job!

Good base idea to expand upon. :)
The game is well polished and catchy.
Keep up the good work!
Pretty much everyone else has suggested what would be cool if you were to keep working on it. If I were to say anything, you should definitely keep working on it! I can see this doing really well.
Good Job!
Youre a great worker! And thk for the liberty of crashing cars at the end!
If you want check our game, we need feedback for the next update : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/the-darkest-light
There could be a little work on music and sound-design too ! But since you're all by yourself all is forgiven !
(and yeah, go check our game at : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/the-darkest-light ;-) )
Anyways, for a compo game, I like it a lot.
It would be interesting to see other kinds of vehicles like buses or motorbikes. :D
I think this game will be awesome if you polish it and add more challenging factors to the gameplay. I'd love to see it on mobile once it's polished :)
sounds and music are a bit too flat
but v nice gameplay, good job""!="I=1
If anything, it lacks in variety, but for a 48 hour jam its still above and beyond. Great job!
I agree with other comments that it might eventually feel samey (if you manage to keep the pace at controlling the cars), but the core mechanic is effective by itself and it can probably be expanded easily. Also, the defeat sequence is awesome :D
Great entry, congrats!
I managed to get 1900 points at my best.
Good luck going forward with this!
SHORT SUMMARY:
+ Easy to learn, fun, replayable, great name
- Easy ~10 seconds after restart when mastered
This just works so well. The gameplay is simple and accessible, while the graphics and audio just fit nicely! Great job!
@gris, you complained that the music was too quiet, but it was already quite loud at my computer's lower volume setting. Presumably you've tried increasing your computer's volume, so are you saying that the music is too loud _relative_ to the sound effects? The sound effects indeed seem louder than the music, but that's how I like it at least. I guess that's why games have independent music and sound effect sliders! I wouldn't expect an LD game to have that level of configurability though.
Some people complained that the game's difficulty should ramp up more quickly, but I guess they must be very good at this game already; I played a couple of times and I still find the difficulty to ramp up quite quickly. Maybe a difficulty setting would help?
Finally, the biggest missing feature in my opinion is a pause button, as I had to make a difficult decision: I could go check why my cat is meowing right now, but all my hard work keeping this intersection safe will be in vain! Thankfully the game is very hard so my cat didn't have to wait very long :)
It was great fun to play and I can't wait to show this do my daughter, she will love it.
Some criticism:
For my taste the difficulty ramp up could be a bit steeper to have a more satisfying replay. I believe the longer the player has to wait for the game to reach core difficulty, the less likely they will restart the game.
Unfortunately the game is pretty much over after the first crash. I found the game appealing especially because the screenshot promised all this mayhem during gameplay, but when I actually played the game I realized that the really fun part only comes when the game is over.
This is all well and good (Super Meat Boy did something similar with their replay mechanic after the level was done), but I wished that the player got rewarded for playing well, so that the amount of traffic chaos after play was somehow tied to how long you played (maybe stop spawning new cars on a crash so that the crash only gets as large as the amount of cars which is directly tied to how long you have played). I get that you can let the game run and you can even interact with it after the first crash, but it is not really a reward, because it's always the same.
Maybe you can keep working on it a bit more and make the crash chaos more part of the actual gameplay instead of an afterthought because I think this mechanic makes the whole thing so attractive and fun.
Overall congratulations to an brilliant concept and a solid execution.
P.S. I've made a prototype with similar mechanics once, but never managed to make it fun. It seems you beat me to it, congratulations! :)
Other than that, it's a charming game which is so easy to pick up! (though it was ironic that initially, most of the "fun" came out of seeing the car crashes pile up after you'd actually.. lost)
Great work :)
I have just one suggestion to make this game a bit more competitive : every car may have a letter on it, and that would be the key on the keyboard to start or stop that car.
Also a little bullet-time bonus that could be activated for a few seconds would be great !
