Tribal Tension (Twitch) by ShaunJS
This is a weird one. I decided to make a twitch-powered game for this Ludum Dare! A small island is populated by twitch chat "tribes" and indirectly influenced and controlled via twitch chat commands.
the villagers will act by themselves, but can be influenced by players!

The following commands exist:
- !tribe - available until all tribe spawn points are filled. Creates a new tribe and automatically joins it!
- !join - joins a tribe, you will be placed by auto-balance and will "control" one specific villager.
- !wood - focus entirely on collecting wood!
- !build - focus on expanding! Will also cut wood when necessary.
- !attack [colour] - lead an attack on another tribe! This is very dangerous! You will rally any nearby npc villagers from your tribe to assist you in your attack.
- !defend - focus on defense! Will mostly idle, but will ignore other tasks like expansion and act against aggressors from a further radius and with increased strength.
- !retreat - very useful! Run back to your villager's "home". Will slowly heal once they have returned if left to idle.

Due to its nature there's not really much point me uploading the game for you to play. So I'm going to be running it as close to 24/7 as possible for you to play and observe. Will also upload some video footage.
Play twitch.tv/shaunjs
disclaimer: the version being streamed is Post Jam. As I couldn't resist adding more stuff, sorry! And as I can't viably stream the original at the same time I'm happy to accept if you don't feel comfortable rating this without playing the original properly. Some footage of what that game was like can be seen in the timelapse below (at the end there's some real time speed footage + commentary!)
If you try to run the GameMaker Studio 2 source code, you will need to edit oMain's create event and insert your own twitch client id, channel name, user name, and oauth key. Google around for how to find these.

How I see it, Twitch Plays games are all about bringing the commands from the chat window into the game. In this, though, the game is brought to the chat window, since everything you type will be visible to your opponents (and with lag, often a long time before they're actually executed). Gaming the chat window in this way really elevates the game beyond the simplistic gameplay of the main screen.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to form any alliances with other tribes in the time I was playing, but I'll check back later, and see if it's possible with different groups of players. If any of you have managed to pull it off, please let me know!
Absolutely love it, had a blast playing it, great game!
Overall, this is one of the most unique and innovative entries I've seen so far!
(Could really do with some form of trading system, though)
Twitch lag gives every command more meaning,
"do I attack now and risk leaving my castle undefended"
It doesn't require a separate download or even another website which makes the game available to a wider variety of users. Plus, the users will never have to update a client as all the updates happen within the stream.
I can't even state how many times I have played this game. Really enjoyed it and I hope that I can see more games like this in the future.
However i don't think it's fair. You keep working on your game and the only 'playable' version of it is the post-jam version..
The only way to see what you did is to get Gamemaker and to modify the sourcecode of it.
I won't rate your entry but really nice game.
Nice graphics too
The game itself is very well implemented. Had like ~20 full plays and not tired yet
