MassTransfer by IvanPavlov

[raw]
made by IvanPavlov for LD 44 (COMPO)

This concept is a revision of some classic strategies. Becoming stronger at the expense of the enemy, one should think about how the total life (Mass in this game) of own units can be used in every particular situation: the bigger is unit, the stronger but also the slower it is. The player can distribute Mass at any time. Controls:

left mouse button - selection of units and execution orders.

right mouse button - move order

mouse wheel pressing - rotate camera

A - setup attack order

D - setup fill order

T- setup split order

M- setup move order

S- stop any order! Screenshot2.png

Very cool idea!
Although it is pretty difficult to control those units.
Also sometimes camera just went crazy and I could see through the walls.

Nevertheless I've enjoyed commanding my blocks
Good job!

Looks cool. Too bad you did not make an OSX export.

The idea of distributing your mass among units is a very interesting concept. Would love to see more. Beware of my cube army roaming the land!

Great idea, I like how you have to balance size and number of units

I like this concept, for the gameplay to feel satisfying it could benefit from including some kind of chaotic element like in [this article](http://ludamix.com/dive/chaos/) I wrote on chaos in games. The game involves mass centrally, so some more use of physics elements would make sense.

Hahahaha! I had a lot of fun making some giant cubes! And the RTS system is surprisingly well finished for a 48-hour game jam compo! Well done!

The mass distribution concept is very interesting. Controls are very intuitive and well implemented. You also succeeded in having a kind of natural physics. Another thing : you learn how to play the game by (safely) experimenting which is something I appreciate in games. Good job.

I liked it. In the osx build, MassTransfer needed to be renamed to MassTransfer.app to make it executable. Pretty good though!

Such a cool idea, very innovative -- I would have loved to see it fleshed out a bit more though, with sounds and a better on boarding process to teach me how to play. I kind of got what was happening, but wasn't sure why I would win or lose mass...

I think the idea is super neat, you should keep working on this!

really nice and nice game. interesting idea , something like agario and rts in one.

the tutorial is theoretically lacking, but in my opinion it gives you a great feeling of discovery: what it is, how I can use it, etc ..
unfortunately, this game also did not challenge me, AI was a bit silly, it did not attack me, it did not develop quickly. this needs polishing.
my Ratings in overall 4 and in inovation is 4

it's a lot of fun, like creating an army of small cubes, or one giant. while we attacking, some cube go out on antoher. it is relly very funny :D
my Ratings in fun is 4.5

Graphically, it's simple, but the affectionate and perfect match with the gameplay, I really like this approach, unfortunately I can not give a very high rating. other games have worked harder on graphic.
my Ratings in graphics is 3.5

I never know how to assess the theme, it is a very subjective issue, (I can not speak English well enough and I do not always understand it, and the topic can be interpreted in many ways)
I think that for me, a strong 3.5 for the topic.
I also never know how to judge humor, and i give the same as the fun so 4.5.

this is a compo game so really great work :D
I would like to play next version where ai will be smarter, and game have dozen levels, maybe some campaign. i think that this would be cool :)

(sorry for my bad english i hope you understand everything)

@querk wow, thank you for such an informative review! I actually would like to continue work on this project. I really loved making it for Ludum Dare
