Cards of Life by mapleglaze

[raw]
made by mapleglaze for LD 44 (COMPO)

This is a game created for Ludum Dare 44. The theme is "Your life is currency".

You recently learned that you have only a few years left to live, and have decided to gamble with a Demon to extend your life.

How to play

This is a simple version of the card game "Concentration". Click on cards to turn them over. You take turns with the Demon, each picking 2 cards. If the cards match then you get a point. The player with the most points when all cards have been flipped over wins the round.

Note

Placing bets has not been implemented. The wager is hardcoded at 2 years. There is no win or loss state.

I like the story concept of the game! Even if the betting didn't make it I wish there was some kind of music/sound and maybe a devil sprite somewhere! Good luck with future entries!

As silly as this is, the card flipping animation is well implemented. I also appreciate that the AI seems to make match *most* of the time when there is an obvious one, but no 100%. It was believable. Unfortunate that you couldn't complete the game, but it's still a good Concentration implementation

Cute little game! I had fun destroying the demon :D

Some form of progression could have gone a long way (more cards maybe), but the game is still pretty fun. The theme also makes sense, gambling away "life" years with a demon = classic!

There was not that much to do, so how did I spent 15 minutes playing this game! The gameplay feels great, which is what kept me playing for relatively long. Like Nick said, the card flipping animation is really good actually.

Well implemented basic form of the game. Obviously needs a bit more time but great work regardless, keep at it. :)

The background story was great, and I also liked the game play. It would really benefit from a win/end state.

Matched to theme that your life is currency. I like the card flipping animation, very straightforward and understandable.
