Your beloved dog Bello jumped on a sacrificial altar and feasted on the bones. Unbeknownst to Bello, this constitutes a grand cosmic crime, with banishment to the deepest pits of the Underworld as swift punishment.

Your quest is retrieving your dog. With all your life-savings grasped in your left hand, 5 silver coins, you hang yourself. Conquer the afterlife and retrieve your dog, with one coin to spare to pay the pond back to the realm of the living.

Pretty fun! The enemy pathfinding and hitboxes are bit dodgy, with encounters where multiple enemies are present usually resulting in the enemies getting stuck behind each other. It's also possible to hit enemies behind fences and such while they are stuck behind there.

I would have liked it if you could keep playing when you run out of money, but just be unable to leave after saving the dog. That was something that I would have expected after reading the menu and dialogue.

I love the visuals, the combat feels satisfying. The controls are strange, but I got used to them. Overall very cool game with cool concept, good job!

Lol, This is a really cool game, the gameplay of which is similar to dark souls)) Really enjoyed the eight directions of movement!

WOW! This game had everything. Music, humour, theme, art, design, good gameplay. This is very impressive! I loved when the large red demons used their spinning attacks. I didn't manage to defeat (what I assume was) the boss, so I'll definitely be coming back to this.

Thanks @sholyu, Procedural levels were on the long list of unimplemented features. I had to cut and choose to finish this, but I appreciated the time limit at the same time. Usually I don't get beyond coding initial gameplay.

I've been considering making an actual fully fledged game out of this jam. I feel like there's so much more I can pull out of the general idea.

Fun game! I died to the Kraken boss though and didn't feel like playing through again. I liked the option to pick up extra coins at the start, it feels like it would be really difficult to win with just 5 coins (I didn't quite figure out how to deal with some of the enemies).

This was a fun game. I liked the mood and art. I was a little frustrated with the final boss because it provided no feedback if you were hitting him. But overall, good job.

Super cool and compelling atmosphere, I wish some of the little mini-boss rooms gave you a moment to realise what the hecks going on before you get your skull caved in. The enemy lock on system seemed pretty useless to me in a top down melee-based game like this. I like how any enemy that takes your money gets taken away, that's a real nice touch. I also found the end boss to be a little awkward to fight, especially since it seemed to display that it was taking damage only half the time. For some reason, the way our skeleton fella's helmet is drawn makes me really like the little guy. :)

The quality of this game is amazing! Its got the works, great sprites, sounds, level design, enemies. If it weren't for the free coins at the start I don't think I would have finished the game so they were a good addition.

Nice work! Really dig the retro vibe! I think it would have been a bit more intuitive to have the striking direction be dictated by the player direction rather than a targeting system, but that may just be personal preference.

I did it, Bello is saved from eternal damnation until he jumps back on to the next sacrificial altar!

Very strong on the mood, the music and level design really pull you in. Very satisfying combat too, swinging at skeletons felt great. The bullet dodging was a nice touch, that made the boss fights more intense. Very cool, would save doggo again.

Really enjoyed the style, reminded me of Prince of Persia. One shot kill is little harsh but hey it's Underworld. Good job.

nice mythology tie-in with this one. I like the combat a lot, the focus makes strafing and rolling really satisfying. if you add anything else to this game, I would add more interaction with the environment
