Cookie is missing. Follow the cat lady in this epic quest for her beloved cat!

The game was written with the PICO-8 fantasy console and a lot of love by @Niarkou and @samh

Note: we ran out of time finishing the quest code, so what happens in this version of the game is that stray cats are found and the story unfolds automatically as you proceed to kill enemies.

Impressive world generation! Alas I was unable to find Cookie :( The sounds and graphics are nice, I like the phrases you display whenever you find cats. I couldn't find the theme anywhere but I'm not gonna blame you. Also bats are little shits, how come _their_ bullets go through objects and not mine?

The world generation is fantastic !! Could almost be renamed "No cookie's Land" since I wasn't able to find him :/
I still don't get how cats join me and how i can collect money but throwing huge amounts of fruits at bat and blob was fun. Your cinematic universe is definitely growing in a great direction, i can't wait to check your next game :) Nice work ! ( Also the music and the art is as cool as ever ;) )

@mharring @generalanimal @snufkinshat @jestemstefan @adrieldf @joemanaco @zhanna @rombus a million apologies! There seems to be a bug with the PICO-8 export, it should now work again.

Wow this is an impressive Pico8 game. The procgen and the graphics excel.

I'll check the escarlib if I make some time. I did something similar for my pico8 games, but haven't updated to latest pico versions.

Congrats on the entry!

That's a nice heartwarming game and I felt the cat lady's trouble very well, being all motivated to find the cat. Though, to support the narrative I wanted some more out of an ending. It doesn't says clearly that I have found Cookie, I wish I could see that (and some more messages about them living happily ever after or something).

Impressive pico-8 game, it was fun to play, and I liked the story elements. I checked your your other games, it's so cool to have the cat lady as a recurring characters !

I really root for the old cat lady and insisted playing until finding cookie. Very cute world, I like the different phrases with each cat found, and I felt so powerful with the army of cat backing me confronting the mighty overpowered bats.

Good art, fun gameplay, and cute cats ;) Map generation is amazing, have no idea how to make it in 3 days or so. However, I dont really understand where is the theme implementation, sorry. But I like this game anyway :)

I also was not able to find cookie :( Mostly because of the bats. This grandma has a rather polarizing effect on animals, doesn't she? Either they follow her around and help her fight or they want to murder her. Doesn't seem to be any in between...

Nice entry. Graphics were charming and the text was wonderful. The music got a little repetitive but it was not too distracting! The cramped quarters made fighting the bats extremely difficult. It would have been nice to have everything spread out a little more, but I loved the procedurally generated maps!

Very nice!

The graphics are so cuute!! I really like that you build a small army of cats that gets more poweful. I found cookie in the end. :smile_cat:

I loved the game, it reminds me of a mix of snes and nintendinho, I liked the art, very simple and added in the right places.
the beginning game is a bit tricky, because you do not know very well how to position yourself, but when you get the hang of it, the game gets easier.
tip: I would set a wave system according to the number of dogs you have, thus leaving the waves more challenging.

This is amazing, especially for a PICO-8 project. The graphics are great, and I'm seriously impressed by the procedural generation algorithm. I like the mechanic where you gradually gain followers that ramp up your firepower. The storyline is equal parts touching and amusing, though the game is so difficult that I was never able to finish it (those goddamn bats firing bullets at me!)

I have to admit, I don't see how this fits the theme at all. There's a life counter and a currency counter in the bottom-left but neither of them actually seem to do anything. That's my only real complaint, though. It'd be great to see this expanded upon, with the missing content implemented, but what you have is already very good.
