GAIZAN: JUSTICE NEVER SLEEPS edition

We have fixed some game breaking bugs, these are on the itch page as "gaizan2.zip". You can still access the original submission, GAIZAN.zip.

Changes in JUSTICE NEVER SLEEPS: - Pickups no longer block hitscans - Slowed down enemy health scaling - Fixed several issues where enemies would fall out of the level preventing progression - Fixed an issue preventing barrel pacifist runs

Please note GAIZAN is best played full-screen via executable as WebGL has lower performance and fidelity.

Really enjoyed the 3D rendered sprite aesthetic.
I had a hard time with the perspective having the aiming red dot to the right of the player.

Fun game. I ran out of stuff to kill though and wasn't sure how to proceed. Good fun shooting the robots though. Nice game.

Awesome angle, I love the mix of a classic FPS but morphed into a 3rd person.

Super satisfying to run around as a robocop shooting other funky robots. I like the extra guns. Hilarious SFX and music makes me feel like I'm playing an edgy shooter for kids in the 90's. I don't know how to get past the first level, nothing happens after I kill everything and I can't interact with what I thought were doors.

@estuvomuybien Thanks for the feedback and sorry to hear that you got stuck, glad you enjoyed the music and sfx.

Youre meant to kill all the enemies in each room but sometimes the enemies bounce out of the level and you can get stuck in a room until they die from falling which is a fair bit confusing yes.

Nostalgia overload here! Definitely captured the 90's tone and feel. Random levels were awesome! The robots were challenging and fun to destroy. Good variety of weapons that took some mastering.

Seemed like the red barrels need to be destroyed before the level will progress (not totally sure on that). But they were fun to shoot so it wasn't a bother. The ammo floats high off the ground and sometimes makes it difficult to see enemies. Otherwise, great job!

@nathant Thank you! glad you enjoyed it :) Yes the red barrels do need to be destroyed, we didnt have time to change that before release.

Thanks for the feedback on the ammo.

Well, who'd have guessed that what was missing in my life was MechCops. Enjoyed that way more than I expected to. Nice work.

I played your game and it looks cool!

Particle effects and graphics are great.

Gameplay seems ok, but I have issue with camera and controls. It's clunky as hell :) But fun!

As I created the sound in our project, I need to say smth about your sound: the intro is very interesting and the Soundeffects are on point.
The feeling and the setting of the game are interesting.

The title screen made me laugh out loud, which is a good start.
Also, including Unity C# code in the HUD is pretty goddamn funny.
Basically, the whole tone is on-point.

I think this needs some tweaking to be really playable - the movement is super floaty (doesn't feel like I'm a big heavy robot). The offset reticle also made me veer off course weirdly as I was walking around, but maybe that's something you would get used to.

@jasond the movement rehaul got axed around 1am in favor of making the hud and intro sequence.

from your review I think I made the right choice ;)

The art and nostalgia are great, but it's kind of hard to play. Looking around and aiming feels really slow and I feel a bit hard to control, and the camera was constantly clipping through walls making things hard to see. With some minor tweaks to gameplay to make it a bit less clunky, I think this would be super fun. The sound is great, the mood is great, and I'd love to play this again because when I wasn't fighting controls, I was having a lot of fun.

It's sweet team! Definitive nostalgia. I found that if I back up into a wall, the wall blocks my vision. And not sure if the MC should decelerate during jumping. I loved using the machine gun. There was a room where I insta-died, but I'm too scared to back and check.

Cool game :) Some issues already mentionned in other comments, but I still enjoyed playing it, and there's already a lot of job done in this amount of time so good work! And I liked the 3D texture in 2D asset, cool idea :)

This game is great! I really played it for a long time! How many levels did you make? Or is it randomized?? The announcer was funny too! I didn't understand it everytime, but it kinda reminded me of the old Duke Nukem. hehe

@jason-lothamer levels are randomly constructed from a list of room variants, there are about 6 unique room layouts and each room has 2-3 variations with different spawns so there are around 15 rooms total.

enemy weapons are also randomized making each room play slightly differently

@jason-lothamer Thanks! I did the voice work, only spent about 40 minutes on it in total so some of them didnt come through super well.

This game is very fun ! He remind me lot of robot game of the 90' ! I like the mix of 2D/3D graphics, and the ryhtme of action ! There are camera problems when you are near of the wall, and menu have unfinished text (maybe by lack of time i think).Good job !

It took me forever to figure out how to use the shop but the game was pretty fun i felt like i was playing the original doom or something with the way the enemies looked. This is a great entry!

Awesome stuff! Shooting robots feels so nice, and that made my day. Nice graphics as well - and really nice design too! The movement was somewhat drifty however, and the offset cursor made steering somewhat weird to me, which are a bit handicapping in this faster paced style of game. Besides that nitpick, huge congrats!
