Time Jumper by xkyl

made by xkyl for LD 44 (JAM)

This is the first time our studio join this event. It is quite excited for us to make a game in that short time. whatever, having fun is the most important thing. Our stduio only have 3 people who responsible to make this game. we have a lot of shortcoming, such as we don't hava actist and musician. Which make our game poor at some aspects. I hope you will enjoy this game. This is a 3d horizontal plat game. You have to use the skill to pass the level. When you use the skill you have to pay your lift as a cost. This is an amazing game for those who have patience to figure out how to master the skills.

To be honest, it takes me some time to learn how to use the first skill. Because the black out part is too much, and I can't find where I am. But soon I discover that I can tab WASD and L and space key quickly to move on! I am not sure whether it is the correct usage, anyway, it worked well and solved most of my problems. Forgive my poor skill, I didn't make it to the end. I stuck in the part of a rolling wheel which is full of knives. I really have fun, though.

Here are some little advices: it will be better gameplay if it is not so slippery in move. The tutorial parts could be easier to let the players adapt. And the visual range of the first skill could be wider, or just improve the transparency of the black out part.
Looking forward to the next game of your studio!

Good job completing your first Ludum Dare event! That's something most people will never do! I must say I struggled quite a lot in the beginning to understand the controls. I understand that English probably isn't your native language, but it would be great if the tutorial had said pressing L would make me float to the right automatically.

A problem I had with the special skill is that I don't know what is going on, because I can't see anything. I just have to guess if I have floated past the obstacle. Instead of making the screen black, I suggest you make the special skill recharge. For example, you have 10 seconds of special skill, and when you get to the checkpoint you get 10 new seconds.

Also, the game is very difficult. Remember that you have been making this game for 72 hours. That means you have been practicing for 72 hours. The people who play your game only practice for 5-10 minutes. Try making your levels a lot easier.

Anyway, I think this is great for your first game. I wish you good luck next Ludum Dare, and look forward to playing your games in the future! :)

@luckyfeathers Firstly thanks for your playing.I come from China.Proply my English not very well in grammer. It is my fault. We make it in 48 hours because I didn't see the rule very clearly, and we have sports meeting tomorrow. So it is all we can do. Why I use the blank when using the skill? That is because I want add the difficulty in it. I'm sorry about it. And Thanks your advises. It truly helpful.

I played the game til the "press K" ability then I just kept dying at least 15 times. The art is consistent and I like the water art. There doesn't seem to be any audio or sound you should have opted out. I also don't understand how this fits the theme sorry. Anyway good luck in the future, you will improve from here.

Not bad, the game was pretty nice and the idea was ok. In my opinion however, the black was a little too much, maybe a little more vision would be better, and the movement felt a bit slippery.

I also sadly don't see the theme in the game, maybe you can point it out to me.

Other than those however, it was nice, the art was consistent and looked nice, even if simple. GJ!

@darylsteak Thanks for your playing. It my fault that I didn't mention the number upward is your left. When you use your skill the life will shorten very quickly.Just like a kind a bussiness. It is my first time make the 2d plat game the controller is kind of dull. Thanks for your advise.

Congratulations on finishing Ludum Dare! Unfortunately, I didn't finish your game. I like the idea behind it, the problem is that the platforming so exceedingly frustrating and buggy. The character will phase the top of objects and slide all the place. The first skill is interesting but takes a while to figure out to use since the game does nothing to help you understand it. I think there is a good idea that needs some tender love and care to become the best it can be. Level design that teaches the player how to use abilities would be great. I would check out this video on how Mario Levels are designed to teach the player the mechanics:

I wish you guys the best in your pursuits and hope to see you guys in future Ludum Dares.
