Nutty Twins

rob the bank without guns

The game is about two brothers, who rob a bank without guns. As a player you control both characters, but the pink one can only walk and not jump and the blue one can only jump and not walk. Somehow you need to let them work together and use their limited but complementing abilities to collect all coins in the bank. The game focuses on puzzles, rather than violence. It is not a shooter at all, but a puzzle platformer about being unique and taking stock of your own value.

I like the style and idea. Music is fitting.
didn't get past the second level though, always confused which key resets which character, which was a bit frustrating.
But well done, overall! :)

Hey! Nice puzzle game! It is a bit hard to control and results on frustration while playing. The level before the last one was the best one, different coins to taking using the fullest of both abilities. The last one, I think I found an unintended solutions, because the blue jumpy guy didn't need to respawn and I didn't use one red switch. Good job!

@bitron on most gamepads the 'x' is a red button matching the pink twin and the 'b' a blue button matching the blue twin. That's how i always remember.

@le-slo yes the 4th level is not very well balanced

Thanks for playing and commenting.

Haha at first I was like "but how do I jump with the red one?", that's a really cool mechanic! The graphics are original and efficient, very coherent as a whole, nice color palette, the sounds are satisfying and the music is fitting and doesn't get in the way (probably because there aren't that many levels). Level design has its highs and lows, the last level was too easy, but some were really great, the first level is a good introduction. I would have loved more levels, and maybe a message saying which level you're currently playing. I played on keyboard and didn't have much trouble with the controls, but if the levels were longer it would've been very frustrating to mix up the respawn buttons. You pretty much dodged the theme but I cannot blame you haha.

Honestly a very good entry, I'm surprised you didn't get more ratings already! Congratulations on shipping :)

Thanks @lucien-catonnet! You are correct: I have interpreted the theme in a strange way.

Cool game! The caption being 'rob the bank without guns' made me think it would be something action, but I'm ok with puzzles too. It was cool how the two characters complemented each other, but I think the puzzles were maybe a bit too easy. I feel like the full potential of the system wasn't really met, mostly because the levels were so open and spacious. Perhaps something like sokoban, where the size given is exactly the size required to complete the level? Still though, very fun with an innovative puzzle element!

@justcamh Very valid points! I will jot them down in my notebook. There are definitely more possibilities like elevators, assembly lines, portals, ... but in such a short time i had to cut them.

love the concept and it's well realized, but it really breaks my mind trying to solve the puzzles. It's hard for me but still I think it's really neat.

I enjoy the concept behind this game, but the controls can be a bit frustrating. I also don't understand how the theme was interpreted, but I'm thinking I'll have to finish the game to find out. Love to see where this game goes for you if you decide to continue working on it.

This is a lovely game! The mechanic is fantastic and the puzzles are challenging but rewarding. I like the consistent art style.

Waaaay clever!
I'm not the quickest at puzzles anyway...but it was fun when I thought "ummm...there's no way to do this level!" ...and then I figured out the path! :)
Thanks for the creative challenge!

The concept is amazing, the graphics are top tier and the levels are well-designed. But, there's two problems for me:

1) I can't bear the audio, the SFX and the music are giving me headaches. I have to admit it's polished, but it is not enjoyable at all for me. (I had to mute my PC sound)

2) I don't see the theme. I know lots of people don't care about that, but I really have the impression that you've thought about the concept before the jam, and then try to adapt it. I personally don't think it's fair for the others (even if I know sometimes a jam is just an excuse to have time to develop an idea). Maybe you haven't done that, and just adapt the theme to your mind, but for me, you didn't check the "constraint" part.

Nevertheless, this prototype is polished, and the concept have a future (except for the sound xD). Furthermore, it looks like you've done it alone, so big respects.

Cute and creative game mechanics. I felt that the blue guy was a little too slippery and he kept missing the buttons when red would push him off a platform. I did like how resetting each player to their starting position became part of the level design, and it felt really clever. Nice work!

Keys are a bit confusing, and maybe difficulty progression is fast, second level is already pretty hard, I didn't get you had the respawn function needed to be used to actually complete the level, I thought it was only there in case you blocked one of the players. No real link to the theme too. However the idea is really cool, the levels well made and smart, and the art fits the whole game design pretty well! Good job :)

I really enjoyed this. The puzzle element is very original and the levels are well designed. I think it could've done with graphical content that tied more to the story theme of bank robbery, a big vault door or something. But it does look great and I love the palette you've used.

Also sorry for taking the theme a little lighter than most of you.

I liked the style and concept, but found it a little hard at the start to figure out. Maybe on the first couple levels having fewer coins or arranging the characters to more easily affect each other would be a good intro to teaching the ways they traverse.

really well made, hard to get past even level 2 lol. one tip i would say is to darken the cement to push it back a little since the players can stand in front of it.
