I love it! I started, walked up the stairs and immediately took damage from an archer. I war frantically defending against that when an orc joined in on the fun, and after a couple of second a buddy of his. My first run ended in a corner hacked to death.

I love the artstyle and the gameplay. Good job dudes.

Cool! Straight away, it looks great. Very nostalgic visual style.
This "demon pact" idea is a good interpretation of the theme.

With a little more tweaking, I think the gameplay would feel really nice - there are a few issues where the controls seem a bit "sticky" (e.g. if you keep attacking, you'll never turn, even if you're holding the opposite direction).

Pretty good game! The combat controls are a bit difficult to handle, but the enemies give enough notice for you to move away, so it's not bad.

Really liked the style. The essence collecting effect was pretty neat. Combat control could use some tweaking to make it feel a bit more dynamic, but good entry overall.

@all Thank you for the feedback and thank you for rating and playing the game :D

@jasond Thank you for you feedback, yeah we wanted to polish the controls, but there was no time left.

@jobus Really? If you have time, I would like to look into this issue.

The game looks cute! And it plays well. The attack movement is a tad "blocking" but it still does the job. Congrats!

Great artwork, and the combat was pretty fun as well. Once you figure it out, it's almost impossible to die though. Sometimes the enemy AI also just stops working. I'm surprised you chose not to be rated in graphics--the pixel art is very nice.

Congratulations with your first LD! Art style is great, and its interesting theme interpretation.
But there are some bugs. Few times I was spawned in closed room and was unable to open door, or sometimes there was arch, but I can't pass through it(looks like it have collider). I screen one bug with colliders.
And sometimes enemy pathfinding looks odd too. They start turning left-right and doesnt moving

@boxedmeatrevolution @team-on thank you for your feedback.
AI: yeah this bug is very odd, we will look into this.
Collisions: We build the maps for the map generator at last and it was pretty late and we pretty tired, so we made a few mistakes. We will fix them as soon as possible.

Congratulations on your first Ludum Dare! I had to play it multiple times and really enjoyed everything about it! First playthrough after I got out from the demon's room, I was stuck in a closed area and I didn't know where to go. I assume that's because the whole level is randomly generated (My game has the levels randomly generated as well!). On my second try I spawned in a proper room and I had alot of fun playing. The graphics are fantastic and I really enjoyed it. Best of luck!

@lazertrax yeah we thought it was cool to have cut rooms so you cannot pass through them, but we missplaced entries and exits in such rooms and so you can be cut off entirely. We will fix this eventually.

Since so many people are asking about it - we did not made the art that's why you can't rate the game for the graphics. But all the rest was made in three days entirely from scratch - including random dungeon generation, random props, different enemy types, AI and all the rest. We still can't believe that we made it because this was our first game ever. Thank you for all the feedback, we really appreciate it!

@boxedmeatrevolution @team-on @lazertrax Thank you for your valuable feedback guys. We have just released a bugfix and the issues with the colliders and the AI should be fixed now.

Really good choice of art style. I enjoyed the controls, including the long-press attack. The AI was way more challenging for a dungeon game then what I usually see, which I liked as well. I found no major issues, that were mentioned above, in the new version. Congrats to you for a really good first run at a ludum dare.

Incredible pixel art, the idea is good the only problem is that it gets a bit monotonous after you understand how all enemies work. Still a great entry without a doubt, well done!

solid idea, I felt like it could have used some sort of other combat attack. maybe at the expense of life, it would fit with the theme too, as you make a deal with the spirit, he could give you powers but at a cost. I crashed at one point and im not sure why. reminds me of zelda, great job!

@felipedermann @fidrik Yeah, we've planned tons of stuff including powerups, special attacks, boss fights, better weapons that you could buy with your life essence, increasing difficulty but unfortunately we had to cut all of this in order to make it on time. But we might still do it in the future :)

@philarmon that's great to hear, if you think of new and cool ways to implement the life exchange mechanic this could turn into an awesome full game in the future!

Great game, +1 to tweaking the controls to feel a little more responsive, also some of the enemy attacks felt a little cheap. The BG music was a little loud for me as well.

Overall, a great little game!

Really cool game!

The art and animations are cute. It lacks a bit of diversity in the monsters that all resemble at the attack level while there is so much monster differing visually.

Grat job !
