Controls: you need a mouse. Press M to (un)mute audio.

Please try to figure out the game yourself (start with nothing ).

  • Too hard? Here's a hint: !> Try holding the left mouse button down, you don't have to click the ball. Move the ball upwards.
  • Still struggling? !> For some more control, try to keep some distance from the ball.
  • Too easy? Try to finish the game before the music stops. It's possible!

Tools: CraftyJS, Sublime, InkScape, a piano and Audacity.

  • Coding: Papaver & Woett
  • Level design: Woett
  • Art & music: Papaver

Bug fix: Music! Apparantly Chrome doesn't like audio to be autoplayed. (So I added a tiny intro screen, and then it magically worked. :open_mouth: )

Whoa this game is an unsung hero. Great mechanic I haven't really seen before. The weight of the ball + the moving pit of death made the controls challenging and engaging. My personal favorite moment was ~5 from the end where it was diagonal left to right and it looked like a ladder of sorts. Honestly EVERY section kept me wanting more cuz you guys kept switching it up and testing the player's dexterity in different ways. The last section in particular had me holding my breath every run. I loved your gameplay, 5/5 Fun.

Something has to be said about the art direction too. The game is very "Orisinal-esque" http://www.ferryhalim.com/orisinal/ which is an art style I haven't seen replicated in many games. It was very soothing but still had the sense of conflict through your gameplay. Overall an awesome game and I hope more people see this!

@peachtreeoath Thank you for your lovely comments, you're too kind!
About Orisinal: I remember a friend showing me some of these cute games from Orisinal a year ago, (but I forgot the name, thanks!), perhaps unconsciously I was inspired by them.

Awesome mechanic! One of the more interesting ones I've seen here. Maybe the physics could use a little work because I found it a bit too challenging (could just be me) and a little atmospheric wind sounds would really add to mood. Great job, hope you continue to work on it!

It took me a while to get started and understanding the mechanics, but once I was moving the ball up, it all made sense. Very nice work and challenging puzzles!

Nice job with the physics of this game. It was fun to discover how to navigate the environments. And I like how it was challenging but the checkpoints were generous. Made the challenge fell less frustrating and more relaxing which was the mood you were going for.

I like the way the leaves provide a place to rest for a bit, and the music is good!

The levels with labyrinth are hard to finish because level is moving a little but enough to reset me near the end.

Nice and relaxing mood here, in a calm autumn landscape. Sometimes things were frustrating, I never fully got a feeling for the controls, but wanted to keep playing till the end anyway. The quick respawning after dying was good, so it didn't feel hopeless even after struggling a while. (I burnt some food I was cooking because I got so caught up in this...)

@mikethehuman @artyom-volkov @torami @picapica: Thank you! It might help to keep the leaf/mouse a bit further from the ball. And did you find out that you can hold the left mouse button down? That might make it easier.

@mgoadric: Thanks! That was exactly what we wanted, for the player to fool around with the ball until you find out that you can move the ball upwards.

@cafelovai, @palinalif, @maaya, @florian-oster: Thanks for playing and for your comment!

@baski @picapica: Haha I'm sorry!

@kuviman: Nice to hear that you came that far! And indeed, those levels are moving slightly up, to give you some time pressure.

What a nice game!

Love your piano music. Coupled with the art it creates a nice atmosphere, the mood is really there.

Gameplay is challenging without being frustrating. It's fun to play it to the end.

Btw, this particular level is super hard, took me around 20 or more tries.

Very cool game! I got as far as @ongomato's image above before I gave up. Very simple mechanics and simple objective. And very well defined controls. It took me a while to figure out I was actually supposed to get the ball upwards in the beginning, but it wasn't as I was about to give up before I figured it out either. So I don't think that is a real issue. If anything it could perhaps have been nice to see the ball a second before it drops, but on the other hand the game restarts so quickly, I don't know if that is needed.

It also feels like something that could become a quite addictive mobile game.

A really nice game ! The concept is fun, the art and the music are cool, but the main thing is : the physic is really well made.

Good job
