Squ by Manu & Wan
----[ THE GAME ]----
Squ is a cute but challenging platformer to hurt your fingers on. Come in and beat the high scores!
NB: In case you're wondering, the intro game is just a meaningless, tongue-in-cheek take at the themes :)
----[ TESTED BROWSERS ]----
* Chrome: OK
* Firefox: OK (but laggy)
* IE9+: OK (works best on Edge)
----[ THE TEAM ]----
- Manu (Lead programming, Game design)
- Wan (Graphics, Programming, Audio, Game design) @mkalamalami
----[ NOTES ]----
* All graphics & audio are homemade
* Various major bugfixes + the online version of the leaderboards were added after the deadline

At first the game was about having two buttons: one for switching characters, and one to trigger the character's action. We eventually felt it didn't work and switched to what you played, losing the "Two Button Controls" theme in the process.
Also, the creatures you unlock were supposed to be bigger and bigger. This also eventually felt wrong given the skills we went for, so we eventually chose to mix things up a bit, losing the "Growing" theme in the process.
So now, in the main game, the only actual reference to a theme is in the opening cutscene... Fortunately there's the mini-game to save everything, right? ;)
The graphics look nice and the audio is fitting.
Unfortunately I got stuck on a black screen after completing level 4-2 (Firefox 42.0, Win 7)
All in all great work!
You didn't loose any thing, the level 4-2 is the last one, but you should have seen the Victory sreen where you would have been able to submit your score.
I just test it whith (Firefox 43.0, Win 10) and it was working fine. Dunno what happend. I know we have the black screen if you choose continue when you already finished the game but I never seen it before the leaderboard.
Sorry for that.
It was planned kinda different, there should have been a picture exlpaining the hud (the meaning of the timers, the meaning of the unit tree)
Yeah, we had a complete system and it really worked kinda well but some hours bevore deadline we recognized it was to easy to win and so we etablished a new system. The problem was, that the maps were now almost impossible to win (except the tutorial and small island)
This time we set our goal so high, that we had all of our team (except 1) make textures (they are all self made with gimp, with some help from online tutorials). We almost worked non stop, the programmer did a really amazing job (all from scratch except his self made library) coding all the features.
Anyway, thank you really much for your feedback. Comments like yours are exactly why we are here. Sadly we won麓t be able to fix the map problem the next days (since there is a RL problem I can麓t talk about) but I will add a explanation about the unit and building system soon.
Greetings,
Team Wir
ps.: Sorry for the language fails, it麓s pretty late ^^
Good thing you mentioned that the intro didn't make sense, now I don't have to point it out ;-) I thought it was a growing game and the growing in the intro felt really good.
I had some fluctuating frame rates, always slowing down when it was getting interesting.
But the game is great and the 4 different squirrels make the gameplay fun!
Great job!
