Alien Planet by Steffy

[raw]
made by Steffy for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

Alien Planet was made for LD45. I ran out of time, so game is not complete. Goal is to ring the bell (Cannot ring it. Sorry). Use the arrow keys to move and space bar to jump.

I developed this solo. I used Visual Studios. C++, SDL2. Background images were painted and sprites were made out of play-doh.

Update 10/9/19: A glitch. If you try to move left immediately, you will slide to the right of the box next to you and get stuck. If you turn right and then left, this will not happen.

Hi ! I always be impress by this mash up between video games and modeling paste (I don't know if it called like that in english sorry ^^)
But It could be interesting to continue in that way !
Good job :)

If you are facing forward or backwards, you cannot jump. You must be facing to the left or right. I wasn't able to test the release version until after the deadline was up. When I did I found that if you try to go left immediately, there is a glitch and you will get stuck. If you turn right and then go left, it did not glitch. It did not glitch like this in the debug mode so I did not catch it.

Not much game here, but amazing visuals! Reminds me of The Neverhood. Would be awesome to see a full game with this style of graphics.

Unique artstyle with the play-doh, but the jump have no weight and cannot ring, keep up with the hard work, this style can have a target.

The visual idea is pretty good, but the game is a bit too buggy to play.

I like the style, but I couldn't get the character to move left or right. I could jump up and down, and the character would do a walking animation when I pressed left or right keys, but there was no movement in those directions.

I tried "turning right then left" as you suggested in your "glitch update", but it did not work

Hi I love to see claymation games - very cool that you tried to pursue it. Sorry you ran out of time - would love to see you finish it because the visual style is excellent :) Thanks for making it!

Really impressive that you took the time to make real models out of playdoo and used handpainted backgrounds! Always love that in games and movies! Would like to see the game further developed :) Good job!
