Team:

DangoGameDev https://twitter.com/DangoGameDev LewishGameDev https://twitter.com/LewishGameDev

We wanted to enter the Ludum Dare but ended up losing a lot of time due to work, we instead decided to still try to get something out and made this from the remnants of the project that we initially started.

The game was created in less than 18 hours and we are happy to have made it at the very least.

Controls:

WASD - Move

Space - Dash (Dodge spikes)

Reach the end of the level and stand on the pedestal to win.

Well that was... Short. It is a nice try for a game. The art is fantastic and the controls are on point. Sadly there isn't anything to the game. It ends when it should actually begin.

Love the audio, cute art. Hopefully you can get further along in your next one!

Not gonna lie I laughed a bit when it just instantly shut itself down.

Hey, it's an achievement just to complete a thing in such a short timespan. Good job. I can see you've got the core of a game here and it's a shame you didn't have a chance to polish it.

@j0ye Thanks for playing, and for the feedback. Yeah, it was a messy dev cycle, and we didn't actually have anything playable around five hours before the deadline haha.

@3mpty Thanks : ), that's funny, we were thinking about what to make it do and had no time so just thought "Close it".

@james-beninger Thanks for the encouragement : ). Yeah, we're pretty happy we managed to get something done at least, but next time we'll have more of a full package for sure!

The graphic is cute, but game is a little bit too short and the sudden 'you win' makes me lose my head, but who cares, SLIME IS ALWAYS THE CUTEST! Wish you can do better in the next jam :D

@dimlight Yeah, that's understandable. Thanks for the kind words, and yeah, slimes are adorable : )

The gameplay looks retro and great. We loved the game. It would be great if you could add more levels.

This is really impressive for only having 15 hours! The art style was really charming, and I loved the animations. I did run into a couple of collision glitches where I should have died but that's it!

Well, that was short ;)

The graphics are nice, and most of the gameplay feels good. I was able to stand in the middle of the spikes though, and not take damage (seemed if I dashed into the middle and the spike animation had started it didn't trigger damage?

A few more different challenges and maybe an enemy or two, and you have the beginnings of a nice game though. Good job!

@realitycheck Thanks for the input : ). I did notice that issue but we had no time to fix it sadly, we are going to work on the project more over time and make it closer to what we had originally envisioned.

As everyone pointed out the game is a bit too short, with few mechanics.
None the less the graphic is cute, the sounds are ok. When the blob jump it should actually show a little shadow under, to better let you understand that is jumping.
A bit of instruction in the beginning would have helped.

Keep trying, it's good :D

Really nice graphics, curious to know how the game would have related to the theme if you finished. That slime sound was kinda gross though, if you're going to hear it the whole game I would suggest you at least make it softer.

@ludumanthony Yeah, the sound was all a little cobbled together sadly. The original idea was a randomly generated roguelike involving a boss you had to gather gear to defeat, but work consumed all our time so instead of giving up or just seeing where we ended up, I quickly came up with a new "Design" and we wanted to make it so you were a knight transformed into a slime who had to regain their humanity and would do so by killing monsters and solving puzzles, but we were simply out of time and just ended up with this. We were happy with it though because we had nothing even close to playable a few hours before the deadline.

I hope you learned about scope and are able to make a more complete game next time !

@lightwaves We'd like to expand it and make it more like the original idea which I mentioned a few comments above, just depends on how our time works out, but yes, we will 100% do better next time and have a complete product.

Aw, so short! :(

I think the way the game used the dash mechanic was actually rather interesting though, or at least could be interesting. Having it as your only method of avoiding hazards can lead to some unique level design, as you have to move somewhat unconventionally. The place this showed up in the game was at the spikes with the fire around them, as you had to steer into the spikes and then dash out.

The squish sound effect I kinda liked, although it maybe could use some tweaking.

It's a nice 18-hour game, but too hard and HP bar read's pretty bad as a green bar locates on a green background.

Very cute but short game. Didn't really see how it fit the theme. But I definitely know the struggles of balancing work and game jams lol. Solid effort!

Despite the fact that ther's almost no gameplay, I have to say that pixel art and animation of main character are very cool. And there's even music! (which doesn't happen sometimes in larger projects).

That's a nice prototype to build up on :D I love you're art style. Wish that the controls felt more fluid and that I had a chance to escape the devilish spikes :) Amazing Job! :D

Haha, I agree that the game could be slightly longer, but you demonstrated nice environment and character drawing skills. Oh and the sound effects are nice, too. Kudos to you from someone who shipped several non-games to Ludum Dare because he spent too much time drawing sprites and animations! 😄
