Empty Stomach, Empty Toilet by Idontknow

[raw]
made by Idontknow for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

You begin on an empty stomach. When you eat, you have about a minute to use the (empty) toilet! Eat more food to go faster, but the faster you can go the faster you'll need to go. Your score depends on how much you eat, but make sure not to crap yourself.

ldcoverimage.png

Created with Unity and MS Paint. Contains no sound, so don't worry about your boss hearing generic fart noises.

For all ages (probably). Contains crass humor (obviously).

Submitted as my first game ever (not counting tutorials), and what better way than in a game jam with a bunch of other, better, and worse developers?

Hopefully, this fix remains within the rules of the Jam. If not, I may need to roll it back.__** also: How do you highlight or bold portions of the description?

**__:smile: UPDATE: Added a minor bug fix which will HOPEFULLY stop players from moving through walls if moving faster than intended. Unfortunately, I cannot yet prevent some of the players from moving faster than intended.

UPDATE! The Post-Jam Fixybuild is up! Hopefully this resolves the issue of some users moving faster than intended! It will be on the same game page as the other build, somewhere alongside or beneath it. So if you're moving too fast in the 'normal' version, try the Fixybuild!

you managed to finish such a coolgame in only 48 hours, be proud(although you might want to consider setting the white space to have an alpha of 0 next time)

Great job on your first game! It was fun trying to control the character as the speed increased but I wished it would be slower and more controlled in the beginning. It's difficult to eat more than 3 items and still win. That said the game is hilarious and definitely put a smile on my face. :)

Hey !

Nice game, pretty funny to play. But I managed to gain enough speed to pass through the wall and get stuck I think?

This is a little buggy (it's easy to get stuck inside of walls) but the concept is funny and the incredible speed of the character makes it fun to play. Had a great time zooming around and crapping myself. Good work!

Collisions break due to high speed of the character so you get stuck in walls. This is usually either to the wrong type of colliders used (edge for example can't handle high speeds) or moving the rigidbody imroperly

If only raisins helped me move that fast. Or my apartment was that big. Funny concept. Good job!

Lol. It took me a while of confusion of the game not working to realise and coincidentally read somewhere P to play. You should make it a text on the start so users can see it faster?
Also, I got stuck in 1 unit walls often lol. A quick fix would be to make all 1 unit walls 2 units thick. Other than that, I'd have 20 seconds left and BRBRBRBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR i pooped myself
Neat game though. A couple glitches and fly-through-walls-later, I got all 5 foods and saved the world! :D

Thanks for all the feedback!

Regarding setting the alpha on the whitespace: I tried that in the Unity Editor and faded the guy out of existence. So that was a no-go. I might need to learn something other than MS Paint to pull that off.

I am currently trying to work on the "moving at supersonic speed and getting stuck in a wall" bug, but am...uh, hitting a wall. I'd encountered this bug in the Unity Editor, but after simply restarting the Editor it stopped bugging out. So I shipped it as it was, and hoped nobody would be speeding through walls. I actually cannot reproduce the bug when I play the game on my own page (the guy goes as intended), but it does bug out in the Editor after test-running more than once. So, while I may be unable to fix the some-people-go-too-fast bug, I should at least be able to keep affected players within the game boundaries.

Patch is ~~on its way...~~ up! **A slight fix has been implemented which will hopefully prevent moving-too-fast players from moving through walls!** Unfortunately, affected players will still be moving too fast.

Well that was unexpected. Amusing, though holy crap (pun intended) I was moving fast. So hard to control!

Interesting! Only thing that would need to be "fixed" is the movement, but maybe that's part of the fun?

All the best~

As already mentioned by others I think the speed ramp up is a little too much. Congrats on finishing your first game!

As simple as your game is I honestly found it more fun then some of the other overly complicated games so kudos! It's a funny concept as well. I would like to see the speed boost have more of a progression, then 0 - 100.

Good work!

**A new build has arrived! Hopefully this fixes the moving-faster-than-intended issue!** Now hopefully all new users will have a "normal" speed throughout the game, though they still start going faster and needing to go faster as they eat more food. Since this build might be less fun for some users, and possibly even against the Jam rules, I've put it alongside the 'normal' build that has only the wall fix. You'll find the **Post-Jam Fixybuild** on the same page.

Really nailed the theme. Reminds me of those mornings you wake up starving and when you eat something your stomach is like... oh dang get to the bathroom stat! Love how silly and over the top it is, and would be fun to see it with a little more art and sound. But great job!

I was suprised I played it multiple times, my highest score was 4. It's fun to play, I would say the graphics are really bad but you knew this probably, there is no sound, I think sound could have made the game even more humorous. Theme it follows the theme technically but doesnt really do anything with it. Good work.

I beat this game with a score of 5, I feel superior above the gods who have earned their status as the higher beings, the fact that this game exists is why the gods are not upset at us 10/10 would lose right above toilet again

The personality of this one made me laugh! I especially like how the character move sssssooooooo slllloooooowwww until you get your first taste of food. Awesome conveyance there, even with such simple visuals!

The gameplay itself is fairly straightforward and simple, but it's certainly a fun experience!

This MS Paint art is a real classic. So simple, yet this game managed to tell a story that mesmerized so many people :) By the way, I noticed your comment "Regarding setting the alpha on the whitespace", just download a free image editor IrfanView, open your MS Paint image, then just immediately save it (CTRL+S) as a .png and keep the transparency color checkbox. You will be asked to click on a color that becomes the background :)

Absolutely hilarious game! Especially loved the humor of the MS paint graphics and the comical theme. Keep up the great work!
