A colorful incremental game

About

Welcome to Gravity Fusion, the best physics simulator in the galaxy!
Well... Maybe not the best in the Milky Way, but the best in your galaxy!

In Gravity Fusion you'll create your own galaxy, starting from the black hole at the center and then slowly adding Particles around it!

All Particles are affected by the Law of Universal Gravitation, and so they attract each other, and are attracted towards the black hole.

If 6 Particles of the same quality touch, they merge into a heavier, higher quality Particle that may autonomously produce smaller Particles.

Be careful: the black hole can eat your particles, gaining more Mass!

However, if you let your black hole grow, you may be able to buy some upgrades from a friendly alien...

Will you be able to reach the biggest Particle of them all?

Controls

  • LMB (Left mouse button) - Spawn a Particle
  • MMB (Middle mouse button) / Space - Pan camera
  • Scroll wheel - Zoom camera
  • RMB (Right mouse button) - (Requires upgrade) Use the Anti-G Field
  • R - Center the camera on the black hole
  • Tab / Escape - Upgrade menu
  • Alt+F4 - Quit game

Very simple and fun! I included it in my Ludum Dare 45 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/jQitKM0J6Yc

Pretty fun gravity simulator ! I had a good time experimenting with the physics and growing the black hole...until I effectively reached the biggest article of them all ;)

Pluses :
- Addictive and simple gameplay that keeps you coming back for more
- Well-balanced upgrades prices
- The ...twist ?
- Nice background track

Possible improvements :
- The start is a bit slow, but I guess that necessary for all these games. I also had some issues with the anti-grav field (does not seem to work well on high mass particles, even fully upgraded)

All in all, great job !

The game is addictive but it starts very slow so it feels boring. But after sometime it gets interesting. You could add a video or a gif so that we can get a view of your gameplay.

That was nice. If I had to suggest something it would be to make the particles spawnable by holding the mouse button instead of clicking, maybe.

Anyway, thanks for the game !

Great use of soundtrack to match progression. The particles and the glow effect looked really cool. The physics seemed great and realistic, but I think maybe bending the rules a bit would make the experience more dynamic (increases rate of change near black hole maaaaybe?). I think having things jump into the black hole could be a little more climactic.

Once I figured out there was a upgrade system, my wrist was very thankful. I encountered no bugs and there was no lag until I reached about 100-ish particle. Overall, a very smooth and almost complete experience.

Next steps I would say would maybe get distortion animation/effects near the black hole. Ngl, it sort of drops the otherwise polished experience when my mom (cheeky) just vanishes into nothingness. Gameplay wise, maybe the ability to make our own black holes (unless I missed it) and have black holes orbit around each other and merge. Cue in the famous pop sound and I'd give you a 5/5 audio :D

@jlv I agree, the Anti-G Field is a bit too weak, but I couldn't find a way to make it stronger without having big Particles going everywhere and causing a lot of lag...

Anyways, thanks for playing our game and for leaving a comment!

@hellper Well, if I remember correctly, our `SpawnOnClick` component should have a "Enable Hold" attribute that does exactly what you suggested :P

It was planned as an upgrade, but while testing, I found out that the physics got pretty weird while it was activated, so we ended up not adding it.

Great game, very fun to play! Love your dynamic music, it really adds to the feeling of scale. 5 stars in humor btw😏.

@erwyn Oops! @MaxSensei was right when he told me somebody would miss the upgrade button message and play the whole game without it :joy:

I think the decay system we developed (small particles disappear over time if there are higher tier particles present) was a good trick to reduce massively the lag, as emulating gravity is quite expensive `O(n²)`...

Huh? "Your mom"s aren't supposed to vanish into nothing, they merge into a Tier 8 Particle three times as large (with this sprite ![1_Protone_Nucleo.png](///raw/d4d/z/28deb.png) )...
Yours probably was so large and so close to the black hole taht it got immediatly eaten :P ...

Awesome game! Really love the added and unexpected humour in the 2nd (?) to last super particle really made me laugh!

I got it to cap out at a mass of 1M. Some performance hits once I started spamming particles everywhere.

**Nice game**! I really like it! But very bad **optimization**, when i spawned a lot if tier 2 objects xD ^_^![Безымянный.png](///raw/485/72/z/28e6c.png)

@sneakyfox Whoops! I think you're the first person that played by avoiding merging particles :P

Since computing gravity is expensive, we have a decay system in place that despawn small astray particles, but since you spawned them almost everywhere without getting to an higher tier, no particles decayed, causing a quadratically-growing lag :P

There's not much I can say that hasn't been said before. Kudos for actually making me laugh with a yo mama joke!

Well... I was expected a gravity game where you build a galaxy... Ended up throwing mass to the blackhole to get points until I got all the upgrades... It would have been fun just to watch the stars orbiting around the blackhole... But he ate all I made

@sir-galloy-de-fierpate well, you can build stuff very far away from the black hole so they won't be affected by gravity :)

best game on the subgenre "universe origins", I got addicted to the blackhole absorption effect, it is very very satisfying, the spawning is also very soothing

Good game! Great "Universe" atmosphere! Comining materia is very interesting, every time waiting for "And what next?". Get the HUUUUUUUUUGE aqua thing, suppose this is the end of game.
Sometimes game very slooooowwwww down, because of many calculations maybe.

Cool atmospheric sandboxy thing. Lags when a lot of particles. No real objective beyond upgrading everything? Didn't know there were upgrades until I decided to quit and hit ESC. Wound up playing through all the upgrades once I knew they existed.

I only found out about upgrades when I was ready to leave the game. Now that was a twist.
The art of the game was so nice to look at. What felt like the biggest achievement was when I got some particles orbiting the black hole. If this game was more about such balance, it would have been more fun!

In case you were wondering, this game was _obviously_ foreshadowing [Fortnite's latest event](https://www.reddit.com/r/FortNiteBR/comments/dhe4x8/season_10_final_event_for_anyone_who_missed_it_no/):
