Nicely put together, especially the presentation. No sooner was I told to go talk to the mayor that I remembered the one NPC wearing a top hat - that's good design right there.

The hit feedback during combat felt quite underwhelming. I think it's just a matter of adding some extra effects to make things punchier. It was quite difficult to hit the enemies too, they're pretty relentless with their bullets. My steadily increasing fire-rate gave me some confidence though.

Great visuals!

The bottom right house in the town seems like has incorrect collision box. Right part of it is nothing, hehe

Really enjoyable game. I loved how you gradually become more powerful as you become more confident. The music was fun and the dialog was great.

The game crashed when I fell off a ledge, it was in the first screen, behind me. Therefore, I couldn't review your game. I'm sorry about that.

@lyghtningwither Aw, well that's unfortunate -- I can't replicate it however I did notice that sometimes you can get stuck in the 2nd screen after the first chasm -- maybe that's where you mean? Regardless, I'm sorry it crashed!

Graphics worked well with the audio. Gameplay was solid. Nice storyline and dialog. Overall a good game. Only lacking in innovation.

I didn't let this sway my vote but I thought you might want to know, there's a building you can walk through from the front right hand side:

I really enjoyed this game! The Nothings is very forgiving---I kept getting hit or dying but the game didn't hold me back or force me to redo my progress, which was very nice. Music was catchy and the controls were simple and sweet. Great submission.

This is one of the top games I have played so far. Good story and fun gameplay. Confidence 100.
You could make the saddenings shoot a little bit slower. I just tried to shoot as much as I can without looking where I actually shot at, so it kind of felt like I killed them out of luck.

I did it! I got my confidence back! Nice game, I like the amount of content you managed to make and how it felt like a full little experience. The bullet hell could be more fun, maybe make the projectiles bigger + less frequent? Cool game :)

Excellent look and feel! I'd have loved to play that on my gameboy, back in my time! Great job!

Cute game! The story was a nice touch. Very unique interpretation of the theme. The Saddenings shot a little too often, making it difficult to actually aim... I just spammed the attack and ran from side to side to hit them. The world had a nice feel to it though - well done!

Great game! I genuinely enjoyed this! Thanks for all the in-game instructions on how to play with character interactions. This game was very thoughtful.

I feel like I got my confidence a little early but hey, maybe I'm just an early bloomer. This was a super cute game. The dialogue was well written and the interactions were helpful without being overbearing. I enjoyed talking to everyone in town, and the fights were entertaining despite their simplicity. My one piece of criticism is that I found the perspective made the platforming a bit difficult at times. Perhaps a little extra collision zone extended past the far edges of the platforms would have made it feel a bit more forgiving.

Overall, this was a really good entry. Great work!

@morrilet thanks for the kind words and thorough review! Totally agree on the platforming (and some extra leeway on being on vs. off the platform would definitely have helped!)

I was able to beat it! I like the different people I could talk to, attacking the Saddenings was fast, but I regained my hearts so was able to get through the experience and gain enough confidence. I liked you included the shadow underneath you, it was a good indicator for the platforming. Keep up the good work!

This is an impressively complete game. It even has a cut scene! Really nice job. I wasn't sure how much confidence I had or how close I was to winning, some meter would have been nice. Eventually I wandered back over and found the gate had opened. There didn't seem to be a lot of point to the world itself, but talking to the other nothings added some nice flavor, so I guess that's it.

Nice work!

Amazing game. Definitely the most complete game I've played so far. Interesting and original story as well. Sadly, I didn't get to become a something! Awesome LD entry.

Wow, actually better than I thought it was going to be! It took me a lot sec to figure out I could hold space bar in combat, but after I figured it out, I speedrun through building confidence. Overall, loved it

I became something! This was a great little game. I enjoyed my time playing it. It wasn't immediately obvious that I needed to touch the sad things to engage in combat, so I struggled for a few minutes to gain enough confidence. Once I realized what I needed to do, I gained confidence pretty quick. Well done!

Solid controls, and I like the combination of the seamless overworld and dialog interactions. Hitboxes on those confidence sprites is a bit low, tho, it's easy to accidentally breeze past them when it looked like they were getting hit.

I really liked the concept of Nothings as an entity and with confidence, Nothings becomes something. A nice blend of platforming and shooting. I feel like it lacks innovation. But other than that, a solid entry!

That was cute. I really liked the flat/cubic artwork for the world, and the music is super catchy (edit: I just read it comes from a music pack, but well, good choice!) The collision boxes for confidence were a bit small so it sometimes didn’t feel right to touch a glowing sphere and not collect it, but apart from that, wandering around felt good, the movement speed and jump distance were well adjusted. The shmup sections were a bit repetitive but I suppose you can’t combine two genres and get the most out of both in the course of a weekend. However once I got my confidence I was overpowered and found myself provoking those poor saddenings just to crush them. I hope they’re all right!

Lovely little adventure with some cute characters.

I had an issue where I got hit in combat after I'd already won then I couldn't move once I was out of combat.

Very impressive, fully featured jam game. The different songs really helped set distinct tones for different parts of the game.
