Upright by BoltKey

made by BoltKey for LD34 (COMPO)
You can accelerate only in two directions. But what if you want to get to the other two sides? To help mr. Green reach finish in each level, make clever use of the environment, which can either help you, or kill you, and on top of that, endure all of mr. Green's never ending comments and allusions.

This game gets hard pretty quickly and is suitable for experienced players in this genre, don't be surprised. Can you finish all 15 levels? Good luck.

Controls: up and right (duh)

EDIT: So, apparently, I made this game way too hard. This exact thing happened with one of my older projects. It seems like I'll never learn... Anyway, I decided to quickly make a walkthrough/speedrun/whatever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuV5ur1HG64&feature=youtu.be. Don't mind the watermark, I wanted to upload it ASAP and didn't want to look for proper tools. So if you want to see how it's done, or want to see some of the later levels, check it out. I hope this kind of stuff is not a violation of LD rules.

This is a lot of fun. I love it. I really like the idea of the constant jibber jabber. The puzzles are quite unique and very playable. Well done!

I love so many things about this, the minimalist graphics are perfect, the puzzles are challenging but fun, and the mechanic is great and you executed it very well!

It was super difficult, but the little quotes kept me from raging (too hard). Excellent job! :)

Love it :) The design, the controls, the quotes :) But the difficulty is soooooooooooooo hard. I've done it to level 4.

Haha, looks familiar a bit ;)
But wow, well implemented, love the humor and the idea with the two directions + bumping, very neat and well done (although the music sounded kind of familiar)
But really haaaaaaaaaard

Had fun playing it!
Little bit of critic:
Maybe not using such plain colors (or atleast not red)
Maybe adding a option to skip a level as someone might
be stuck in one
Maybe making the text the square tells pop up more

Thanks so much for rating my game!

Love your game too. A bit too hard for me but it was fun playing! Funny texts are really nice addition. Music is great.

Overall nice work there!

Interesting gameplay. The name is so good, when you played that game :)
But it feels kinda slow. Maybe if that game had something like coins in mario, that would guide the player that would help. And I also think the gamespeed could be a little higher.

I'm not that much of a fan of your graphics, but it is 100x times better than having bad textures (which is common around here...).

The box talking is fun, but I had hardly time looking at what it said.

I enjoyed this a lot! Surprising level designs that take advantage of the mechanic really nicely. As others have said, it can feel a little slow at times -- though having things move faster might make a difficult game even harder. If you could find a way to make that work, I'd love to see a larger collection of levels in the future.

The pixel's comments are a really nice touch.

I love it. The little messages give so much character to the game. Levels are nice and tricky.

really nice mechanic, well done. - it's not that it's hard, it's just that the difficulty ramps up too quickly. I think the speed is also really infuriating, took me many times to beat 3 level but half the time spent was building up the bouncing far enough.

I like the concept of only having half of your movement directions, but the execution suffers from some false difficulty at its core. The sluggish movement makes it tricky to estimate where you'll slide and bounce. While it was fun for a while, ultimately my patience wasn't enough to reach level 15.

You could try ramping up the speed or having some visualization of your expected trajectory.

The commentary from the player adds an extra bit of charm. The audio is listenable I guess, but those graphics kinda hurt to watch.

Oh, and there's a fair amount of content, quite a bit of new twists in the later levels. I don't think most people will play that far because of the fundamental issues in control/difficulty curve, which is a shame.

With all that in mind, I see potential in this with some more work.

I am on level 5 at the moment and getting very angry lol, its a great game with a neat but infuriating game mechanic.

Well done oh and this:

"Hi random stranger... you are not supposed to read this, go win the game. If you are reading through my code, I am sorry for all the ugly duplications and similar evil things in my code. I am learning... But I am glad someone is interested."

Difficult levels (sounds familiar -.- ). But it's about the game mechanics and that's solid. Thanks for the post-compo release!

A lot of fun, but really challenging (and sometimes infuriating), had to give up at the level that introduced the arrows. The random messages kept it from getting boring.

I'm always delighted to see nice, solid puzzle games in such short game jams.
