Yo that was intense! :rofl: I got 50+ and had to dodge left and right on instinct!
Slipped up and got caught though :joy: **Nice game!** :smile:
My highscore is 107. Can you beat it?

Fun game, amusing idea and plays well. It does get a bit repetitive though, it would have been nice to have a bit of variation in houses, enemies, or something.

@nisovin Thanks for playing!
I unfortunately didn't have the time to draw more house scenes (Or improve the current one :smirk:). I did make the helicopter slowly start to shoot and move faster as your go along though. So once you reach 60 points you hopefully won't have the time to feel the repetitiveness

Really interesting game, would love more of a story in a full game though

My favorite thing about this game is definitely the music! It added a level of intensity that lent itself very well to the gameplay.

I kept expecting there to be more helicopters, or for it to start moving faster or having more/larger bombs to make it more challenging. Also, when the game restarted, having to watch the intro again made it a bit of a pain. It might have felt a little better to have it played before the menu screen.

A solid game jam game! Very playable and fun.

@rdcooper Thanks for playing!
I was going to do more helicopters but didn't have the time in the end. The speed and fire rate of the helicopter does increase through the levels to make a challenge. You only really notice around 60 score though. I guess I should have increased the starting speed/fire rate values

The max speed of the helicopter matches the alien speed and the max fire rate is 2 shots a second

As other people mentioned, this game could use some variety in the gameplay. Placing the houses in different spots and changing the number of them could help. Having the helicopter drop multiple bombs could add some variety too. The intro scene was nice, but the option to skip after the first time would be appreciated.

I think the art is headed in a good direction, but obviously needs some more time to get it there. The chosen audio was very suitable to the mood of the game and made it feel very arcade like. It does seem like you needed some more time on this game in general, but it's a good start.

@thecritterscove Yeah. I was originally aiming for compo. But time turned out to be a big issue lol
I'll hopefully find the time (And motivation :smirk:) to finish up the art and add some variation to the fighting soon...

Quite fun and definitely keeps you on your toes! I got 64 pieces of candy before the bad government people kidnapped me :)

Cool little game. Controls are simple and I like how the helicopter chases you.

I like the setting of trick and treat in a game and how you quickly go up to the doors, feels a little like michael jackson moonwalker mega drive with the doors! But I agree that it needs more variety. Some ideas could be to have people looking through windows and trying to avoid the light stealth game style. Make it so you walk into the house when you press space in front of it to avoid cars/tanks, or maybe you need to wait longer on doors until they open the so you knock on one, then go to another, and then go back again!

fun game, despite the fact that as others said, there wasnt any variety between scenes. i dont really see that as that big of a problem though because the game was still fun overall! i like that you got "sent to area 51"

Thanks for playing everyone!
Wish I had a bit more time. I was planning on adding a little more to the process of getting candy, varying the enemies a bit, and changing the bullets to look more like a stun gun, in addition to city variation and no half-done textures

Fun little game! I feel like the difficulty could have intensified faster, or that there would have been more of a reward for retreating (like a little picture of eating my candy on the spaceship). Original use of the theme!

I enjoyed it! Took me awhile, though, because I would get bombed while I'm reading the instructions or the alien ship would come and pick me up after I press the up button when I walk up to a door, lol.

Neat game. Some of the halloween games I've seen seem a little too gimmicky to turn into a real game but I could actually see this as a full game with a kind of cartoony zany feel to it.

That's because the story is pretty good for a trick-or-treating game. Alien lifeforms coming to earth to trick or treat is a great premise for a silly game.

As it stands the gameplay does get repetitive quickly as it takes a while to ramp up. I think if it was a more story-oriented game with levels of increasing difficulty rather than an arcade game that could work better.

Good job. Wish to see more helicopters instead of just increasing shoot speed. And also skippable intro.

Nicely done here. I love the concept of having to trick or treat while dodging military bombings. The gameplay itself was a little stiff, however. Well done overall!

@danilo-freire Unfortunately SFML doesn't support web builds. And since I'm compiling everything with my Linux terminal I'm not sure it's possible for me to compile for mac without getting a mac and Xcode

I really enjoyed the fact that the game music ramped up when you got a high enough score, I am too greedy though so I always continue until I die, but my highest score that I was on was 68.

Great idea, love the pun in the name and thank you for linking your game in my post, I love score-attack games and yours is no exception!

Music is awesome. Game is pretty simple, and it seems to get harder only by making the helicopters shoot more frequently, which is pretty easy to adapt to for the first 10-12 levels. The retreat part didn't have a lot of meaning for me - not much difference between dying or quitting. The old-school 8-bit appearance was neat, and I liked the humorous game concept.

Man do I hate that helicopter lol! So stressful, why can't I just get candy!?!? Really fun little game, loved the progression of difficulty (although maybe a bit too slow on my 4th run, I wish there woudl have been a way to start where the difficulty is a bit higher). Simple but effective graphics, awesome music and great little concept!

Great choice in music it really complements the risk vs reward gameplay. I was trying to get to 100 but died at the last second. This was really fun. Great job!
