Delta Test Site by Derek Volker

Unit QWERTY 123456 is assembled in Delta Test Site in order to perform several tests.
However, the tests hide more than just data collecting.

CONTROLS:
Arrows: Move
Z: Shoot (When available)
X: Jump (When available)
2: Jump Mode (When available) - (1 energy point per jump)
3: Shoot Mode (When available) - (2 energy points per shoot)
4: Shield Mode (When available) - (5 energy points per damage taken)
Even if a mode is available it wont be possible to change into it if there is not enough energy to perform its action
Version History:

Some terminals can be enabled without knowing really what I enabled, just might be nice to have some on screen message about that.
Also text is kind of too similar to background, somewhat difficult to read.
All in all, nice work :)
Otherwise, I really like the music and the mechanics (Other than jumping). As said before a little bit of camera panning when a terminal do something would be also great.
Again, the music is really awesome and is the best part of your game for me.
Congratulations on making it for the LD45 Compo ! :D
Hey @zuf, @apace, @beshr-kayali, @griz, @asturk, @miu, @p-r the game design really went not good. Initially i planned to do only level design and decoration at the last day in order to do proper testing of all components but i could only start it when i had 4 hours left, so it went kind of rushed. I planned to make 8 levels plus boss, but had to condensate all the upgrades in three and the backtracking really turn out annoying. I will try to work more time in this next jam and keep your thoughts in mind. Sorry :(
About what @paulo-brunassi and @marcel-oyuela-bonzani said, the invincible post-hit time ended up in the to-do list. I wished to do something like rockman but the time constraint didn't allow me.
@fluffy-kaeloky could you elaborate more about the lack of inertia when jumping? I had a similar question about in the last jam and tried to improve the physics on this one. If i could improve it more, it would be even better.
Also thanks @assaf, @the-osk, @plepletier, @blobo, @webus for taking your time writting a comment. I am trying to play, rate and comment on the positive and negative aspects of everyone that commented here and as soon as possible.
- Perhaps modify the air control speed ? The player maybe should be able to move faster/slower when jumping ? It depends on the type of game you're making and requires a bit of experimentation.
- But mostly this : Your jump is constant up and down. No matter how long you press the jump key, your jump will always go at the same height and fall down at the same rate. This is a big no-no for platformers, as the jump will feel floaty and loses some precision.
There's an excellent video by BoardToBitsGames explaining exactly that : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KiK0Aqtmzc
Good luck perfecting your platformer ! :)
I think the game is a bit too slow paced, but overall nice job. Great music!
My only issue was the level design - not visually - but the layout. I think the challenges you were presenting were good, but the levels involved a lot of 'boring' time as well as 'interesting' time. My opinion is that you want to maximise 'interesting' time as much as possible. For example on the first level, you have a deep drop that means if you're at the bottom, it takes a long time for the lift to come and get you. The level could have worked mechanically with just a small drop - enough for you not to be able to walk out. Another instance I felt a bit bored was trying to get on the elevator next to the first 'enemy' you meet. That elevator requires a precisely timed jump to get on it but if you fail the jump you just have to wait for 10 seconds. The interesting jumps are at the top of the level, the jumps which are recovery jumps should be kept easy, i think.
Thankfully the whole game was put together well and my feedback is just a minor comment. Whilst standing around I was enjoying the 80s style music :musical_note: :sunglasses: Well done
Overall, it is a good entry. Congrats!
I didn't enjoy the slow pace, i played for 18 good minutes but i was always bad in megaman anyways. So that might be on me.
I loved the BG Retro Music. I did zone out for a while like how it happens in jumanji. Mood hit: Nostalgic.
But I have a EU Keyboard this made the jumping sort of a bit tricky... I would have expected jump on space. But over all its a great game!
Apart from that, the music fits perfectly, I loved the few audiotracks that played (jump sound, and that red thing between two gray things), and the graphics is solid. Good job!
Despite those complaints, this is a great game! Really nice job here.
Solid art and sound matching the robot theme of your game!
I encounter a few collisions errors where the player 'canon' hand appear inside the wall when the player collide with left or right walls but nothing major that can distract from the game's solid gameplay!
Nice work!!
Good level design)
- Good art and animations
- Some original mechanics design
- I like the music
- Good concept
Suggestion for improvement
- Level design causes lots of running through empty areas with little to do during the run.

2 things I disliked. The big brain controls were too hardd! 2, Z, 3, X up down left right!....how am I processing all those keys at once! And they're kinda away from easy finger placement, so I had to look at the keyboard a lot. It was frustrating lol. Stupid boss turned on me in the end! like I'm disposable! HA, GOT WHAT THEY DESERVED!
Neat start with nothing features. Exploring the levels to achieve perks, though I did find myself running back and forth too many times with a really slow movement speed lol.
But in the end, I am satisfied :>
