Fun game! The timing / hitboxes took a little getting used to, but really liked the art style, and the sound meshed pretty well too. Great job!

Fun little game! I like that the arrows blasted through the enemies :P

Hey this is pretty fun. The charge-up on the bow feels great. Would be neat (and flavorful) if you could get the enemies to attack each other (or trick them into doing so).

Wow, one of the most satisfying games I've played today, the combat feels fluid and polished, not to mention how freaking nice it feels to hit multiple enemies with an arrow. This game has a ton of potential with more weapons and enemies. Amazing job!

Any game that lets me eat the hearts of my vanquished enemies is a good game in my books. Simple but fun!

cool game! Very challenging on a touch pad, especially considering you have to press ontop the enemies to initiate attacks?

overall i enjoyed it, the graphics, sounds and music where all tip top neato!

Thanks for the comments!
@kekkodude You don't have to click on the unit directly to attack, just point the mouse in their direction to aim. I can imagine using a touchpad would be difficult.

Got to give it another go on a proper rig and on a nights sleep, blew my expectations compared to what i played yesterday! Almost felt like a new game, i kept thinking, hmm, could this be the next Swords & Sandals, maybe, and i wanted an achivement for tanking so much damage, "t'is just a flesh wound, are you not entertained?!"

I got a better impression of how the combat mechanics work, still *i* would like to be able to attack open air, maybe even do some combo moves for specials???

it plays really well on the intended setup so ill bump up the rating some

@kekkodude Glad you gave it another shot! I'm not sure what you mean by attacking "open air". You can swing and shoot to your heart's content with or without enemies - just aim in any direction and click. Perhaps the controls aren't clear enough, or perhaps I'm misunderstanding your comment?

Agreed, given more time some combo moves would have been great! Thanks for the feedback!

haha sorry, had to double check, guess i was still traumatized from yesterdays mauling in the pit with the infamous touch pad! No issues on this setup on a third glance

Nice! Gameplay is solid & fun, just feels good to play. The bow was especially satisfying. Good call on having weapon durability to balance things (and nice use of sound design to convey weapon breaking), but it might be nice to have a warning or visual indicator of when your weapon is about to break. Graphics were solid, it was just hard to tell what was going on when there were so many bodies on the ground :P Got a little samey towards the end so it might be cool to have some bosses or more enemy types. Got to wave 22/148 kills. Nice work!

Thanks @adhesion! It's subtle, but your weapon turns red before breaking. Noted though. We had hoped to get more enemy types in, but unfortunately time didn't allow. Thanks for your feedback!

This was really good! The fighting took me a second to figure out but it feels really good. I'm impressed with the mechanics you were able to implement. Our game ended up taking a similar look at the theme (ish), and we used some of the same tools (Godot +1), so it's really cool to see what direction you guys took it in. I wanted to play a few times to see how far I could get, so you definitely got some of the fun factor right. Well done!

Very polished game with really great art and sound design! Really well done on this one! One thing that made me a bit sad was that there are only 2 enemy types and it's not quite challenging, i even tried to see if i would win waves with just a shield and ended up being quite fine :) Variety aside the whole thing is just incredibly satisfying and polished, well done to the team!

Like people say, this game is fun. I liked the bow especially. I thought there was a bug where a weapon wouldn't work, but it turned out just weapon breaking, so you need some indication that it's about to break. Other than that, good job!

As a huge fun of action games: this is cool! I loved the bow mechanics (it's really nice to pierce through the bunch of other guys) and I really appreciate the effort to make player to understand the game: the tutorial, the green arrows over hearts and weapons. I personally hadn't much of a problem understanding breaking weapons. The only thing that wasn't clear for me is the difficulty curve. I felt like I'm fighting the same number of enemies, but die quicker. Do they become stronger over waves? Great game overall!

This game is a lot of fun, even not very original. It looks polished too. It's especially fun to hit groups of enemies. The bow seems to work best, because you need it beat the other bowmen. After about 10 waves I got stuck outside the arena and couldn't get back in! It would be cool to have heavier weapons and bigger hordes of enemies in the later levels.

Pretty fun, got to round 22 before I died, I think with a few more enemy types it could have been really improved though, did like the weapons turning red to indicate they were about to break, really helped plan for the next move.

Very fun game, I encountered a bug where switching the bow out with a weapon while charging it cause the charging animation/texture to stick but apart from that pretty seamless and very fun. Good job!

Okay, that was fun. Looooved the bow - they would line up chasing me, and I'd mow 'em all down! It was kinda cool how the weapons did different things, and you just kind of intuitively figure them out (like slashing a bunch of enemies with the sword or shooting through a bunch of enemies with the bow.) I made it 10 rounds!

Incredibly polished for a LD game. It's really fun, but I honestly kind of got bored after 100 kills and threw in the towel. Would have been a nice touch to have some kind of goal or end to the game.

The bow is very smooth and fun to use, but it's overpowered. Kind of just have to kite everyone around into a neat little pack for easy shooting. I wouldn't say to weaken the bow, as that would probably take away what makes it fun, but if you continue with this game, maybe make an enemy that isn't easy to kill with a bow?

I also never ran out of bows to pick up, so I was never forced to use the sword and shield. It might be neat if the shield could actually block things(or does it do it already, but it's too brief?).

Anyways, merely suggestions in case your group continues this game, as you have a nice base going. Otherwise, I don't really have any other criticisms. This is a very solid LD entry. It's also very user friendly with appropriate sound feedback and UI. Plus good looking graphics with consistent style. Excellent job on this game!

Thanks @thecritterscove for the feedback!

We had planned for more enemies and weapons to vary the gameplay, but there wasn't enough time.

The shield currently blocks 80% of sword damage and 100% of arrow damage. We intended to add enemies with shields that would force you to switch to a sword, which would have made gameplay more interesting, but unfortunately we ran out of time.

Love the graphics and general aesthetics. If this were to grow into something outside of LD, it definitely needs a bigger variance in enemies and maybe some player special moves?
Fun game, but I may be biased cause I love roman stuf :)
