Rag Racer or: How I learned to stop worrying and love the bump by CaptainDreamcast

Legendary bike racer Mike Glovemaker had it all! Fame! Mansions! The golden edition of the Nintendo World Championship cartridge! But it was all taken from him when the public found out that he spends most of his days in his underwear sitting on his couch! But Mike will not give up! He will gain back the public's trust, even without a motorcycle! Will he be able to make his grand comeback as... THE RAG RACER OR: HOW HE LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE BUMP™?!
So yeah, do you ever get the thought "I wonder how Outrun does its 3D effect" and then follow up the thought with "Wow, I should test that out in a 48-hour gamejam"? Good times. I hope the physics aren't too frustrating, if it's any consolation, the game isn't very long. If nothing else I feel like I accomplished my personal goal of involving the player more. In a bit of an unusual way, but that still counts!
Update: Dreamcast version is up.

Insanely good!
I laughed out loud when the race started! And then that ending! Amazing! :D
I did have trouble figuring out exactly how to control properly, and ended up going sideways while exploding quite a lot. I managed to get to second place on my third attempt!
I finished the game, but I never felt comfortable with the controls at all. It did look pretty authentic though.
Here was my experience:
I was in from the start. So I got up from the couch, went to the bedroom, in the closet there is a bag of change, and I felt around inside for a quarter. 1967! A classic. I put it on the PC, even before the threats. But the threats were still good, an indication of where we were going in our journey together, this game and me.
Then I started th-SMASH.
I started the r-SMASH.
Wh-SMASH.
SMMMMMAAAAAASMASMASH!
There was a period of adjustment.
Even after learning my lesson, I had to learn it again. And again.
I just had a really hard time not pressing "Right Arrow Key" in the followingly pictured scenario:

So I only got second place finish... THAT TIME.
After my not-turning skills were a little bit better honed, (SMASH!!) I wrecked some dudes stole their shit and finished first, then underwent some of the world's best medical care.
I mean, this game works because it owns it. It walks what it talks, and it talks what it walks.
Charming and enjoyable, well done.
