cakewalk by ohsqueezy
cakewalk is a single button action game where you are a cake and you have to walk from one end of the line to the other without getting run over. There are nine levels of increasing difficulty and four types of enemy: slicing, revolving, burning and shooting. The line is treacherous but the atmosphere is pleasant. You can do it if you try your best. And when you do, your time is saved to the high scores list!

NOTE: The 32-bit Mac version is tested up to OS X 10.10, and the 64-bit version was built and tested on OS X 10.14
You can install python and pygame and play using the source code.

Clearly didn't care about the theme, but that's fine. Some of the levels are a bit much, the ⌘ in particular. It's possible to get stunlocked right at the beginning and it takes some time to be able to move.
Overall not really a fan, it's at the same time a bit too simplistic for a three day contest and too overdesigned/difficult on the level design side.
Good job :) (and the sounds are super cute!)
@ynneblack the connection to the theme was that the line appeared as a single point out of nowhere and split into the start and end points (that's why they're so close together in each level) but I didn't get a chance to explain in the game, thanks for commenting
Good job !
(This was on the post-jam version, of course)
The game was also too difficult for me even on the first level, which is a real shame, because it looks like you had additional ideas *lined* up. (heheh get it)
Nice work, nonetheless! I'd love to see this expanded on!
(also, thanks for doing Mac build- as well as the 64 bit- a lot of games have been refusing to run for me so I really appreciate it!)
I like the curves and the mechanics of the different enemies, and how the cake slides back when you are not pressing space, which was both useful and sometimes annoying.
I also enjoyed the music and the "ouch"-effects. Sometimes it was a bit of a waiting game to wait for a moment where the different enemies would all be positioned favorably. On the other hand, there was so much going on, so many enemies to avoid! To help the player determine the direction of the enemies, perhaps you could rotate the their sprites in the direction that they are going, and perhaps you could give them a trail of particles to visualize what kind of curve they followed.
I like the glow of the lines in the postjam version. I got stuck in the level that starts with a diagonal line going up to the left side of the screen. Oh, i just passed that level, finally! But I still gave up after that.
Overall, well done!
