Description

Fit the Sticky is a Katamari Damacy and Rock of Ages inspired game in which your goal is to stay as small as possible in order to reach the finish line. By rolling through obstacles the Sticky grows in size and mass. Collect to much and you will have troubles navigating and ultimatly won't fit through the goal. In esscence you start with nothing attached and try to stay that way.

Challenges

This game was our second Ludum Dare (1st 2014) and our first 3D submission. Bing in 3d brought the additional challenge of creating assets (although we used a lot of freely available assets) and designing a 3D level. Our team consisted of two programmers, so asset creation was a new field for both of us. The physics of the ball movement also gave us trouble. It was hard to get the right feel to it. With more time on hand we could have tweaked it even further. Because of the nature of our game (lots of seperate objects), perfomance proved to be our biggest issue.

All these challenges combined let to a more focused approach resulting in only one level . Therefore we decided to invest the time we had into polishing and tweaking the core mechanic. The core game loop is suprisingly fun and offers potential for further mechanics and interesting level design.

Performance

If you have problem playing the game because we couldn't optimize enough try playing in a lower resolution or download the windows version.

I like it! Kind of a reverse Katamari where the goal is to stay as small as possible!

Nice, good execution guys, congratulations to the team. I had a bit of low framerate problem in the web version.

It might be interesting if the scenario had less sticky objects or greater distance between them to give the player more room to deflect and think their way.

Also had a little difficulty with the control, I felt that the avatar does not respond directly to the inputs, with the low framerate this is even more evident.

Great game. This game looks similar to voodoo's and lion studio's game combined. But cannot believe that you guys managed to make this game in the given time.

Hey, that was the best one I've played so far. Nice little idea, that could easily be expanded into a bigger game! Good concept and execution, well done.

Not to shabby!

I really like the concept and how well the game was done. The models were good and the sound effects were awesome.
Shame there aren't more levels though!

No real complaints

Cool idea! I couldnt be the level though. The volume counter up top was really nice other wise I would have thought it was impossible. I would have enjoyed a little more if I could slow down but all in all a good game!

@ninnec Thank you for the feedback. It might be harder if the performance is low. All in all we would have liked to tweak the physics a little more. There just wasn't enough time sadly.

@all Thank you so much for your positive feedback. Please feel free to also add areas we could improve in!

That was quite tough, but I finally beat it a couple times, actually first time I beat it my mass was 36.4 but it let me through. ![Score.PNG](///raw/598/81/z/2926a.png)
It was fun and hilarious watching everything get picked up. Good sound effects, also.

Haha really fun game! It is very hard to finish it, but I got a feeling it is not impossible to find the best route, and that kept me playing.

I really enjoyed this, although I wasn't able to stay small enough to get through the end. Collecting the cows on you is hilarious and I love the idea. Great job!

Hilarious and fun ! That's an original way of using the theme and it works quite fine. The level was pretty hard, it took me a lot of try to pass it (and not with the best of scores x) ) but in the end, that was satisfying !

Despite the lag, this is a lot of fun to play. Took me a few tries to beat it, then once I did I decided to spend a few more tries going as small as I could... This was about as far as I got. ![tinyba.png](///raw/65e/1/z/29630.png)

This is a lot of fun! It is short, fast and intense, and that's how I like it. The sound-FX really finish the job. It has a simple premise, and simple controls, so that's a big plus for a LD game. Too bad there is only one level! Well done!

Interesting take on the katamari formula! From a game design perspective it's cool to see how the positive feedback loop of katamari works when turned on its head. I wish the level design was a little less linear as it quickly became obvious which route to take and the game turned into a normal auto-runner in which you have to take the clear optimal route and avoid obstacles.
