Quest about... Nothing? by NinjaCatz

[raw]
made by NinjaCatz for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

Hello everybody!

This time we decided to make a quest game. As always, we added some humor to it. I hope you enjoy this quest, quest about... nothing?

Although I do not think that it is about nothing. After all, doing the same as the characters from this game is quite real...

Many thanks to СircleOfLife, for what he invented and detailed the plot of the game.

Actually, about the game

ld45prew1.png

There are 12 endings in this small game. And below, I wrote useful information about hotkeys: ** Space ** - skip (text) ** 1, 2, 3, 4 ** - choose an answer ~~you only need the first three~~ ** WASD ** - move ** E ** - use ** P ** - FULLSCREEN (Only after the start of the game) Extra: ** Shift ** - run ** Ctrl ** - walk ** secret key ** - dev Mode (useless)

CREDITS

  • CircleOfLife - author of the story, graphics designer;

  • Me - mostly, programmer

  • Freesound.org - sounds & music, special - ValentinSosnitskiy (for the music - SeptemberHordsLoop_mp3)

What's next?

If you liked the game (or vice versa), let us know about it. Also, if you have any questions or suggestions, write about it in the comments!

If the project gains a good rating, then perhaps we will continue this story and make a full-fledged game, only with:

  • better graphics

  • optimization

  • more choices and locations

Finally

You can download the game from the link below. One of them will download the exe file, the other - the archive with the game.

The game has a save file, which, after completing the game, it is advisable to delete. To do this, go to the ...AppData\Local\LD45** and delete file named **QAOsave.sav.

Liked the game concept and the audio. The audio did match with the game concept. The humour made the game more awesome. Overall, a good game.

The game encourages the duck boy to commit crime! Oh. I wish the endings had names or numbers to better keep track/communicate about them, but perhaps it is not necessary on this scale! I found one reference in the letter, when Diego lies. :)

I really like the cute graphics and music. They work well with the lighthearted story.
I wish there was a way to skip through dialogue. It got sort of frustrating to try and get more endings, since I'd have to mash through all the text I'd already read.
Good job!

Oh this game! Hilarious and fun to play! The audio is great, the controls intuitive and movement not slow, not fast. And this game is even less than 10 MB! Wow.

I tried to be smart and walked towards the fridge in between the dialogues, and got stuck inside it :confounded:  I had to restart the game. (Sadly no button for it...?)

I would add a feature when a dialogue box was read twice, the player could skip the portion of the game, since playing the beginning over and over again is a bit annoying.

I achieved all the endings (unless there are some secret ones beside the original 12?), and loved every bit of it. Great job.

Super cute game! Amazing graphics! I love how you have different characters, different story lines, different endings! Got most of the endings but then I started as a crocodile I walked towards the fridge and then it appeared... and I got stuck XD

Nice stories lol. Good how both characters were sort of linked together. Why is it advisable to delete the data, by the way?

@itsdanidre Many games and programs use this folder to store saves or any other useful files. Over time, they accumulate in the folder, and can occupy a significant amount of memory. Although in our time, computer memory is no longer such a big problem, I think that periodically it is necessary to delete files that have not been used for a long time
