Start With No Game by davidsheadgames

[raw]
made by davidsheadgames for Ludum Dare 45 (COMPO)

Taking the theme to its literal extreme for game jams, the game itself is missing a game! Screen Shot 2019-10-06 at 1.24.25 PM.png

It's up to you to build it yourself! With very limited options!

Instructions: Point and click to create objects. WASD and space keyboard commands also exist, but you'll have to put them in yourself if you want to use them.

Awesome. I liked the VFX and SFX. Your narrative reminded me of Stanley's Parable

Haha, really fun concept. Sound was nice, liked that you could give objects other than your "player" the ability to move and jump. Good job!

This is super unique, really liked this one. I think the only thing I would have really liked to have seen is some music and of course you can always go crazy with the components to add. Perhaps even a sounds / music component? Great work on this one!

The game is a 10/10 following of the rules, it's great

Great concept and solid execution, just not very substantial. There was a hint of the creativity you'd have to give players to fulfill this idea's potential, but it wasn't as prominent as one might want.

Funny idea! I included it in my Ludum Dare 45 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/-U44UyPCEiM

@jasper-hansen Yeah, I acknowledge there's a lot that this game could have had fit into it, but I REALLY wanted to make compo this time around.

I am planning to work in additional features in an 'after-jam' build, possibly. Did you have anything in mind to make it more stand out?

@nachtwitch Thanks! Recognized, what?

@davidsheadgames The ability to make things other than the player capable of getting the jump would be the kind of thing I'd try to add more of. It's a big step in the right direction. Other than that, just more variety would be great. Probably nothing you haven't heard/realized yourself, sorry if it's not much help.

what a nice concept. The choice is entirely up to the player as he designs his own game. Nice!
