@mrabnox Did you try using the Z and X keys? This is the default PICO-8 mapping.

C starts the game. X for jump didn't work for me. Lovely and cute game tho, especially those pixel animals. I like the music and the art! Didn't get far without jumping :D

@maaya you can’t jump at the beginning of the game, because you start with nothing! 😄
I have added an in-game note to make this less confusing.

Game's pretty confusing (couldn't get past the rocks blocking the way, but found the two keys and the ball), but I like the idea of very, very basic functions like jumping having to be unlocked. It creates a real feeling of progression when what used to be an obstacle is now basically part of the decor.

One problem : for some reason when crossing the lake some of the water tiles don't kill you ? It felt wierd and I had to die and retry to figure out which paths were passable and which weren't (before I got the boots).

@hoshi thanks for trying the game. I agree more explanations could be given, but we didn’t want to spoil everything… and there is a way to deal with rocks!

The fact that some tiles on the water sometimes don’t collapse is a bug that is now fixed.

Very nice game with great graphics, cats, raccoons, and little jokes (the one about the zero inventor is my fav). I loved the mini puzzle games, and also the kindess and cuteness of the people you meet on your way <3

You can pet the cats&raccoons in this game! Very nice entry, some small bugs with collisions on the lake and with pushing boulders but overall I had a great time in this cosy game!

Really cool ! So cute characters ! Well polished gameplay. The music and art are <3 And I liked the humor :)
Small bug with the boulder blocking what seems to be a cave, I pushed the boulder but couldn't enter the cave, did I miss something ?

@bozarre No you didn't miss anything! We wanted to make a cave but we ran out of time :) So nothing to see there.

Cuteness overflow in this game ! Impressive how much you managed to do ! I really enjoyed everything ( well almost, moving boulders around did get a little bit frustrating after some time, but then I discovered I could push boulders in diagonals and everything was waaay easier, not sure that was intended though :) ) and the credit part tops it all ! Congrats !

Its impressive the size of what you were able to accomplish. Overall the game had a good level of polish, died to easily in the water early on and that put a sour taste in my mouth. Also the background on the Textboxes were really hard to read the letters. Overall it was a pleasing experience great work!

Unfortunately the Cave didn't do anything for me.

An awesome job you did there.
Well Done

Nice game with a large world to explore and a completed RPG system (except battle). It's really hard work. I'm not a native English speaker but I laughed a lot after understanding the jokes.

After eating jumping shoes, it is no longer possible to proceed. But the character and sound of 8 bits are so good.

Very cute game ^^ I liked that you could pet the racoons and cats :) I went until I got the swimsuit and it was fun being able to freely swim where you died several times previously x)

Very nice game! I reached the final area.

The web build was only playing on my left speaker, which was rather distracting, but it's probably a PICO8 bug rather than the game's.

At first I was kinda lost, because I thought I sunk while stepping on the lilypad thing, while I actually must have been a little off, so I was thinking I had to collect the boots before crossing the first river. Then after examining every bush and piece of grass in the starting area I've tried walking through the lilypad again, this time succeeding. Oh well.

After that, things went more smoothly. I didn't exactly like the part with the large lake, since it required lots of precise movement, but other than that, I didn't stumble upon any major hurdles. I just don't know what was the purpose of the cat ball thing; I tried throwing it at cats and raccoons and it didn't help.

Overall, a cute and enjoyable entry with a nice range of abilities. The audiovisuals were fitting as well.

Creative mix of the platformer and RPG genres. It would work better I think if movement moved you a full block instead of a half block. I think I kept over or under-walking and dying even though I knew what to do.

A tip regarding the audio, the pop sounds are generally caused by cutting off part of the sound in editing. fade out the sound or leave a bit of silence on the end of the file :)

Check out the highlight of our playing your game on stream. It should be available this weekend over at:
https://twitch.tv/cyberlightgames and will be called "Mike plays 'the legend of nothing'".
