@jcmonkey Is the page loading? It's a Unity web player :worried: Thanks for looking.

Game loaded fine for me, easy catchy tune. Art looked fine and the game played like a breeze. I liked how the controls were explained on the intro screen.
Well done.

The idea is cool, and props for doing it all in Unity in 2 days. The controls were hard to master, as I couldn't get close enough often times to the frogs. Maybe some sort of easing/slowing of the broomstick if in proximity of the small stuff? :)

the end goal wasn't clear - the instrumental goal of collecting stuff to make potions was
the flight controls were a bit frustrating, making it hard to turn quickly - making it annoying to actually bump the frogs. and given how fast you get going, there was a few times were it was hard to ID stuff as it went flying by.. for example the helicopter looking thing.

Witch fly handling is kind of weird but then you start to control it! I played during 10 minutes without getting dragon's scales! It's too hard! ^^ Nice job for a compo btw! :water_polo:

For some reason your game wouldn't load for me. Maybe it was a Safari issue?

I also thought that the page wasn't loading, but it just took some time for the Unity logo to appear. First off, the camera shakes a bit too much when the witch does sharp turns at such a speed. The witch's controls are also a bit weird to handle. Actually the witch's movement is the biggest problem in this game, just slowing her down a bit would help a lot. I liked the enemies' AI and design, but the world could be a bit more decorated. Anyway, I liked the potion making process, but perhaps exploration could be incentivised.

I love games that combine 2D and 3D. The controls are also very polished. Nice job

The frogs don't seem useful enough, and I just skipped them in the second run.

Nice smooth mechanics and graphics.

One issue: the game is tied to FPS, right? Looks like everything is faster on 144hz monitor than on 60hz and its really hard to control yourself on such speed.

@kuviman Everything should be using Unity's delta time to keep a consistent speed. Unless that works differently in their web player

The game is good, I just wish it would zoom out more when flying fast. I often crashed right into a dragon coming out of nowhere. :D

The controls are hard at first, but then you understand how they work and it's pretty good. Dragons are hard to get.

@johnnysix @cooz @wie @tobias-froihofer I think the problem with the controls is the classic developer problem. As I played it a lot whilst making it I probably 'get' the controls now. I will try and think of some good ways to improve the learning curve in the future  thanks

@rob1221dev @adroitconceptions With a bit more time a few of the progression mechanics would definitely be improved. I only got so far in the time given and I agree that it doesn't feel like a full game yet

Thanks to everyone for playing and leaving feedback :hugging:

Pretty good, but it was a bit unclear what the end goal was and what you were supposed to do. I brewed a potion from frogs but it didn't seem to do anything beyond the icon that slowly dissipated. Great graphics and sounds though.

@kazatan Great game! The only thing for me were the controls, I think it would be a lot easier if you used tank controls so pressing w sould make the witch go forward and a/d would make her turn. Other than that, the game is cool!

A simple game that was for some reason slightly addicting. I like the art style and the sort of 3d ish effect it has.

It also took me a little bit of time to figure out how to kill the dragons though, if it was mentioned somewhere I missed it. The movement, although smooth, was also a little hard in terms of moving small distances.

Still, pretty solid entry, nice!

@stefanie-leitch the green potion is just a speed/accelleration boost - should change the music a little too.

@pavel-ivanov I hadn't thought about using that sort of control scheme. Thanks for the feedback.

@darylsteak yea, i agree it needs some sort of tutorial or story to help with that.

As has been mentioned, the controls where a bit difficult to get used to. I also found it a bit difficult to find dragons sometimes, perhaps their spawn rate should be a bit higher. Other than that, a fun game. I like the graphics, especially the shadow and trail behind the broom.

I got the frogs, but couldn't understand anything else. Got killed by dragons (?) but I am supposed to collect their scales, how?
Good overall idea, descent music and graphics, but couldn't understand the game so not much fun unfortunately.

I think the perspective and funky movement are making me dizzy :D
Figured out I have to catch the dragons. Wasn't sure if the frog potion is helping me. Getting the dragon was hard without getting hit. I caught the helicopter! Wait, why do I need a helicopter? Anyways, I liked it, the art and audio are good :)

@wevel when I started out I was thinking dragons would be one of the hardest to find and capture, but i didn't have time to flesh out anything inbetween frog and dragon

@djee The method i found was to try and come at them from their side. You can turn quite quickly if you slow down, so release the movement key, aim at their side just over the back and that seems to be the most surefire way of getting them. I think they're too difficult right now, so i would balance it better if I did it again

@jupiter-hadley love your videos, i've found a lot of other cool games to play on here by watching the first part. Thanks for playing

@barrier Thanks for pointing out the plt holes in my story! I haven't actually conveyed the story in the game so for now it will just have to make no sense! Glad you enjoyed it and managed to complete the game :star2:

Let me say I really enjoyed this. It felt nicelly wrapped up and whole - had a relatively clean start, progression, and also an end. If you plan on expanding this idea, please let me know when a new version is out, here in the comments. Good job!

I really like the movement, altough the goal isn't clear enough, i was just flying around catching frogs and it was boring, and then i read that i can capture the helis with the dragon potion, good idea tho, keep up the good work!

@kuro i'll keep you posted! For now, it's back to work and a regular sleep schedule though

@wansou Yea, definitely needs a tutorial/story/more character development. In the end I got the core gameplay into the 48h but didn't have time to address those other parts.

@velvetlobster maybe I should add some fire and ice magic!

Really interesting idea to show the objective when not moving, really works with the idea that you are flying around and need to stop when trying to read something. The psuedo 3D look of the trees is also something I dig alot, more games need that it's so good. Also the gameplay loop is pretty interesting, a bullethell-ish game you beat enemies by running into them. A cool twist on the idea of bullet hell which normally treats enemy body's as bullets themselves. This is what a harry potter game should use haha, great submission

Cool game ! I really like the top down view, even if it was a little bit hard to understood, I had a lot of fun. Also I liked that the audio helps a lot to find frogs and dragons.

The controls are really hard to get it at first. I dont really got the grasp of them but was able to play and capture the Heli.

Some kind of tutorial or at least an explaining text should be present in the game in order to the player get what is supposed to do. Without the explanation in the Ludum Dare page i would not be able to tell exactly what i was supposed to do.

In the other side, the graphics are very competent in producing the atmosphere desired for the game, as well completed by the audio. Its a small detail, but the shadows gave a nice touch to the game.

Overall, nice job!

Pretty challanging controls :) I think control with mouse will be easier.

- (+) for good soundtrack and some sound effects
- (+) good graphics
- (-) game is little bit empty (more props would be good)
- (-) I dint recognize and game goal unfortunetly
- (-) Challanging controls

But pretty solid game.

I did a small playtesting of your game. I hope my feedback will help you.

I also checked your source code. It would be better to put your code into a specific folder, so you dont mix them up with other images like pngs. :D

@schwede I look forward to watching the whole of your video tomorrow!
I was very happy with myself in this game jam for not trying to keep my code tidy! Normally I spend too much time organising my code and not enough time making the game!
From the bit i've watched so far I noticed it runs very slowly for you (the movement is slow) - so I must have made a mistake with using delta time somewhere. @kuviman also had the opposite issue so sorry about that!

@hadik thankyou, i agree - there's plenty of things missing from the game! I hope to get another version of it out at some point. I will make sure there is a tutorial and change the controls a bit (or give options).

I feel like i did all the things in this game. :-) I thought the graphics were nice, the feel of the game took a bit to get used to; the slowing down to make tighter turns but throwing yourself into a bit more risk to make tight turns was interesting. I found it difficult to collect the red dragons, most of the time dying to their death fire rays of death. The frogs i collected a million frogs and found that they don't stack but you just refresh your potion when the other runs out to maximize efficiency. What's coolest most of all and kinda surprising was the audio soundtrack and effects. They were very pleasant. Thanks!
