Light Chaser by CodeForJoyCaro

made by CodeForJoyCaro for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

A tricky little Arcade game with flashy particles and some creepy autumn vibes.

You start with nothing and you have to keep struggling to sustain the points you make.

Really like the style of this game - makes a simple mechanic really fun and interesting. It would be good to see more levels and perhaps different enemy types / power ups. Have you thought about including an endless mode? Great job on submitting a game!

Graphics and visual effects are impressive! I wish I could play longer in this world.

To survive with the highest score, try to move on the boundary of the circle in a single direction, and don’t be greedy. That’s my strategy :)

I like graphics and effects. Also the movement logic is quite polished. Congratulations.

Thanks, the controls gave me some headaches. At the beginning the movement was really cumbersome. Fortunately I did not give up :)

Really nice graphic and audio. I don`t get it where is the "start with nothing" theme part, and the game is very short. But overall good job i liked it.

Nice visuals, and I like that the bigger you get, the harder it is to avoid obstacles. That's a neat mechanic!

Regarding the theme: As I already mentioned above
"You start with nothing and you have to keep struggling to sustain the points you make."
So in the game you start with zero points and you can easily lose what you have gained, just like for someone who comes from nothing.

Cool idea! Additional bonus for making it in html.

I really like the graphics, I had a very strong desire to become a giant glowing ball of power! :) Great job, fits the theme really well

Nice game, making it enless with more and more spawns of the red things would have been great, cause it as it is is quite easy and finished in a minute.

nice simple mechanics and the autumn vibe mentioned is great! I like the look and feel of the game. Relaxed but still challenging. I liked the way that you could first grow your ball and then just bash through the deadly ones and survive :D Don't know if it was intended but it was great. Would be interesting to try this on mobile phones or tablets and move the ball by tilting the device. Great game!

I like the bashing too. In the game as in live, sometimes you have to be corageous to be able to gain something.

Simple yet compelling mechanics. I really like how the orbs pool in the middle and get removed organically as red things hit them, so smart! The difference in controls as you size up is nice and weighty.

Its great you know you what you want to do, where you want to go, but figuring out how to get there efficiently is tricky. Great entry!

Pretty simple but interesting mechanic.
But I would like to be bigger, more longer gameplay

@martin-waters Thanks for the feedback. I kept it short and sweet for the jam, but am planning to make more out of it later.

The visuals are pretty, but I was expecting the game to be harder, and I think the red dots should spawn closer to the edges of the map so you have time to react.

Simple and enjoyable game :).
I would have appreciated a Windows build since the HTML build was quite laggy for me but it didn't hamper my experience too much. The game was quite pleasant to look at and it sounded really nice to my ear. I didn't really enjoy having the red spheres spawn right next or *into me*.

I agree with Martin that the game could have done with a more lengthy challenge. I was definitely willing to play the game for longer than 30 seconds a time.

Good job! :)

Nice game, the level was good fun to play.
Easy way to lengthen it up would be to add an infinite mode. IMO this game would suit some kind of infinite challenge mode perfectly.
