Little Odyssey (this title and text are referenced from Little Odyssey) by Foursay

[raw]
made by Foursay for Ludum Dare 45 (COMPO)

This game is inspired from a rock song called Little Odyssey (細美 武士, the HIATUS). My title ane text in game are referenced from the lyrics of this song. Actually I would like to have this song as the bgm but this is a compo so I can only improvise my own bgm.

6.gif Instruction are inclued in game:

W -> Forward S -> Slow Down A, D -> Adjust Direction

There are few instruction/direction in game, which is kind of bad because i have no time to do this (got homework and midterm tomorrow and I had to review and finish assignment in these 2 days). Anyway enjoy the space.

i really wish to have *little odyssey* as my bgm but I cant due to compo and copyright. Anyway if you would like to try you can play that song with the game volume mininum or I could make a copy with bgm as little odyssey and...don't publish it publicly xdd

Hey, I think your link might be broken. Did you publish your game?

@d1gital-cuts thank you for pointing that! This is the first time i use itch.io so I made a mistake. I have published them and the link should be valid now!

Oh my god, this game genuinely had one of the best soundtracks I heard in an LD game.

This game is a word of art. One of my favorites from this jam. The music was stunning, the gameplay relaxing, the graphics charming, and the best game over screen I've scene in a long while. I spent some time just drawing the sparkles on the game over screen. I wish I knew how you did that haha. Excellent work.

Suggestion: Please give your game's Itch page the title of "Little Odyssey" and a bit of a theme or screenshots because it looked a bit ominous to download.

@d1gital-cuts thanky dude! That's actually an improvisation made in the last hour before submitting and I would try to polish the soundtrack later if i got time. Thanks anyway!!

@sageware thank you so much for your comment and suggestion!! I just finished taking the midterm and I will modify my itch page now. (The method for drawing sparkles is actually straight forward and stupid that you simply record the position of the plane every certain frame and draw it on screen with image alpha fading, therefore it wont take too much memory for long lasting gameplay if you delete the drawing with 0 image alpha)

Wow, what an amazing experience it was, I was lost in it, honestly!
I think you should develop this into a full game, something like "sunless skies"

@gabriele thank you for playing this game! If I got time I would like to rebuild the whole game and maybe change the game engine to Unity so as to build the full game
@wxzuir thanky! ( @ indienova XD)

I've never heard of Little Odyssey, but this game got me interested. The music is nice and the game seems polished for its small scope. Good work!

one of the best soundtracks in a LD game I've heard! Even with a minimal amount of text and interactions, the music and the overall atmosphere of the game contributed for making it very touching. Congratulations for your work!

The controls are really nice! It was really satisfying to steer the spaceship around. I wish there was more to this game. I loved the artwork and the music.

Thank you for making this game! I enjoyed it.

Wonderful game! The atmosphere is elegant, and the combination of music and graphics is also nice, is the peper plane flying one after another the memory? If possible, maybe it would be more effective to add some text when finding an object? Good job! (BTW, you forget to add LD tag on itch, which will make the players on itch unable to get into your LD page.)

@roque thanky for enjoying the atmosphere of the game!!
@mrerdalural thank you! I wish I got time for making it longer lol
@odeyalko thank you for playing! its indeed short but hope you enjoy the game anyway
@dimlight Thankyou for the comments and feedback! I remove some of the text actually for keeping the mood of "Nothing and Everything", I think more text could help grant extra meaning to the story layer. Also Thank you for feedback on itch, I will try to fix that. (p.s. I have to say your game has the best gameloop I have ever seen in LD45 and I really enjoy it!)

Wow, the atmosphere in this game (figuratively speaking, as the vacuum of the space is kind of opposite, huh) is fantastic! I love the style of this game, and, moreover, I love the controls. They feel so good and natural. Well done! I think this game in it's current state is a solid foundation for a further development, e.g. adding more gameplay and storyline to it.

I love the music and mood! Will be better if there were texts to tell the stories of the object I get. The gameplay can also be strengthened. But anyway, It's already impressive enough as you made it in 48h alone! Good job:).

Although it is a short game, everything that is there is full of quality, the music, the visuals the controls, the ambience, amazing! In particular I love how the game over screen shows your path, is it supposed to be a picture of something in particular (looks a bit like a bird to me)? If not I think that could be a really cool concept. I tried to change my path to write 'hello', what do you think? :laughing: ![screen_hello.png](///raw/bc2/41/z/29902.png)

@psiv Thank you very much for playing my game! Indeed initially I would like to make the path draw the figure of the spaceship actually in the end but after testing with the objectives displayed I found it really hard to make the plane draw the figure I want because I didnt have enough navigation point in the game. That was like 90 minutes before the deadline and I havent start making the music and sound yet, so I just reserved some points and started to make the music. Nevertheless I finished the game and really happy that you enjoy it! thanky for the comments, feedbacks and the "Hello", and I will try to figure out how to make spaceship draw the figure I want in the future XD
