Writers block is a simple clicker game where you play as an uncreative individual who steals peoples ideas from the internet. Selling these ideas will earn you money. With this money you can upgrade your primary research website to find better ideas to steal. You can also purchase upgrades to increase profits from selling ideas, increase speed of finding ideas, and more.

KNOWN BUGS

  • On occasion you may get an idea with the same name as one you already have.
  • The layering of the pop up screens is not perfect, sometimes when you already have a window open a new pop up will appear behind it.
  • You can earn enough money to cause an integer overflow and the amount of money you have will loop back to the lowest digit an int can hold.

BUGS FIXED AFTER COMPO

  • Fixed title screen not loading when you return to the main menu during the start tutorial
  • Fixed UI Scaling Issues
  • Fixed some typos
  • Changed title screen to suit more aspect ratios

God, I'm a bit ashamed of saying it, but I played for like 30 minutes and I swear I really loved this game ! Maybe I like stealing ideas of others... Starting with yours, for example :D :p

Very funny yet still moody. I got hooked on mining ideas from the internet and selling selling selling. I think the UI was very nicely executed. Great work! And it was fun that the ideas had random names like keyboard killer and so on :D

That is just a Windows version inside the zip. There is another dropdown on Unity build window for the selected build platform too (even though the left menu says them all) and you need to build each one independantly.

This was a blast to play. As I was upgrading the websites I really wanted the ldjam to be one of them and I'm glad it made it. Straightforward concept but great execution!

Really nice, played through it in one sitting :D In the end though, if you keep going, eventually your income will become negative :D Sadly no 16:9 but that's really the only thing I can "critize". Otherwise I really enjoyed the experience.

Music and sound effects are nice and chill.

Plot is nice, but I got bored fast. Needs some complexity, such as combining several ideas in one, sell them in packs, etc.

I really enjoyed this game! I can't put my finger on it, but it has an addictive quality to it. The UI work is amazing. Everything was easy to parse out and the notifications all worked flawlessly to show me where I needed to focus my attention. really really well done.

Maxed upgrades, website is ldjam and... I'm in debt. I knew selling ideas was too good to be true!

@antti-haavikko My mistake. The zip has been updated.

@finalforeach That's odd. Did the game allow you to purchase upgrades dispite not have enough money?

Still not quite right. The mac version is actually supposed to be .app, not a folder. Linux build, or lunux as you called it :ok_hand::laughing:, seems to be fine. After renaming the folder to .app, it started but then this happened.

Except on frame rate that the gif has no chance of replicating. And neither clicking or pressing A/Q does nothing.

@copper-aardvark-games I already purchased everything, so there was nothing to test. Nothing to be concerned about though, it was just an integer overflow from getting *too much* money.

A really nice relaxing game. Looks good, sounds great. Was a little slow to start until I made my first $200 and upgraded the website but I really like it overall.

@antti-haavikko My apologies, but I honestly don't know what else to do. I've rebuilt the mac build and uploaded a new zip once again, but I don't know if it helped anything. Unity's cross platform builds have never been the most flawless thing, I guess.

No problem dude! Thanks for trying to applease us mac/linux weirdos anyway. I’ll try again when I’m back at the computer.

This game was a ton of fun! It has a great aesthetic, good music, humor, and good gameplay. I sunk about 30 minutes into it, and enjoyed it the whole time. Great job!

I spent too much time on it, felt like I had to max everything. The UI is nice, there are good feebacks, we're never lost. Nice game :D

It's a neat little game that I can definitely see getting hooked on by just wanting to see all the numbers go up. Pretty relaxing. I just kind of wish there was a bit more to it. As it is, things get pretty by the book pretty quickly (at least up to the part I've played so far.)

I also think the idea of stealing other ideas is a really good concept in its own right that just doesn't get explored as much as it could.

Still, it was a nice little experience and I liked it!

Great concept! I really liked:
* The sound indicating an idea is being searched for! Especially helpful later, when it gets faster.
* Upgrading the website made it playable for longer as you had something to achieve.
* It was quite relaxing (music, design) but also funny.
* The simple mechanic made it really easy to get into and play.
* Cute little detail with the top website being LDjam!

Some improvement ideas:
* Since it's heavily text-based, I thought you might want to know of typos, to possibly fix? Please don't take this the wrong way; I also did not have time to proofread my game and already had to fix some typos so I'm just hoping to help! Anyways, they are: "you're **and** unoriginal", "although they're not really yours**.** per se", "Quit to **TItle**"
* Being able to press "enter" to confirm ("continue" button, for example) would be a great quality-of-life detail!
* I ran into a bug with these two buttons not becoming disabled when you reach maximum. I play it on Windows, if that helps.
![Bez názvu 1.jpg](///raw/8f0/e1/z/2908d.jpg)
* Additional upgrades to unlock would be fun, but I imagine that'd take more time to make!!

I had fun playing. It gets pretty hectic as time goes on. I enjoyed the sound effects and progression. I gave up after i got most of the things maxed. I streamed my experience with your game here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/491837292

@ynneblack I really appreciate the feedback! Yeah I noticed those typos as well after i uploaded the final build. I spent the first 30 ish hours only working on mechanics and data classes. I worried about putting it all together visually last, so it was a bit rushed. I'll upload a new build where i fix them soon haha. I'll look into the upgrade bug as well. I'm glad you enjoyed the game, though!
