Nothing to jump by Malai

[raw]
made by Malai for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

You 'Start with nothing' you can do, not even jump or walk. You regain those abilities after collecting power-ups.

Walk: A/D Arrow Left/Right
Jump: W/Arrow Up/Space
Double Jump: Jump while in the air.

Does not work in Microsoft Edge.

Made with my C++ engine which in part was also in part created during the jam :D

Nice little limited platformer! Easy to understand and has a full game loop, art is simple but cohesive.

A nice little game.
When I acquire the ability, it would be better to have some introductions.
Adding some available abilities will make the game more interesting.

Simple but fun game, It's impressive that you build your own engine.

solid jump n run with nice minimalistic pixel art. Just a little short, But it's a game jam after all :)

I really liked the movement and enjoyed the art style. I think adding some sound to the game could have made it come more alive, also very small piece of critique but I felt like some jumps were a little blind and I didn't know where I was going.

@oceanm @appix Thank you for your feedback! I would have loved to add more text and sound, but i wasn't able to add sound and text rendering to my game engine.

Hardest jump was the last left jump other than that pretty easy. Its nice to finish a hole game in a few minutes :v: I like the art style btw

The level design could be more intuitive. I was already trying to figure out why I couldn't jump and then I just decided to "go with it", after which I found the jump pickup. I'm also personally not a fan of games where you are almost guaranteed to fail at some event because you can't know ahead that you were supposed to do something specific. I'm talking about the "double jump with feint platform". But, some people enjoy them. Overall, it was a nifty little platformer.

I like the idea, and the amount of figuring out you need to do in the platforming

Very delicate small game, the color combination of the whole interface makes players feel very comfortable. The design of levels are great, but sometimes the players should have the second jump when they can't see the destinate platform. In all, great job!

Nice job using C++ (and presumably Emscripten) - I did too! There were some tough jumps in here, but I completed it. It would have been nice to hear sounds too but keep working on that engine for next time.

Cool game, I feel like a lot of juice was missing in terms of the platforming.
But overall good entry.
