P4R3NTing 101 by AndideBob

[raw]
made by AndideBob for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

!!!ATTENTION!!!

P4R3NTing 101 has become 2002: A Space Nursery and has a free demo available over on itch.io

Here is a Trailer:

https://youtu.be/tl6gzvDSkIk

You can of course still play the original gamejam game through the link at the bottom of the page.

It is the Year 20XX and chaos has broken out abord the colonialization ship 'Last Hope 2'.

The Incubation-Control for the ships infant passengers is malfunctioning and they are waking up from their sleep way too early.

Luckily the ship is able to fix this error, but it will take some time during which the newborns need tending.

This is where you come into play!

You are a caretaker robot model 'p4r3-nt' and it is your job to feed, clean and put the newborns to bed.

Good Luck!!

To avoid confusion take the time to read the instructions in the menu!

The game is heavily inspired by games like 'Overcooked!' and therefor also offers a Local-Coop gamemode. It was made in under 48 hours and might be my best gamejam game yet!

I'm a grade D poopy-space-dad-bot! Very addictive, very fun. Loved the sound design and the space poop flying around. By my second (proper) attempt I was absolutely mesmerised, focused on keeping my space babies alive. Excellent work!

Fun game with a unique idea. I love the fact that you added a multiplayer element. I'll have to try that when given the chance!

Awesome idea that fits the theme perfectly! Reminds me of Overcooked but with taking care of babies.

Graphics have a great theme, music fits the mood and the sound effects are spot on.

One of the best games I've played during this jam so far! Great work.

Great game. Had me laughing quite a lot. Well executed, decent graphics and audio.

Only criticism would be: the graphics could spruced up, particularly how the background is handled, and the cries could be varied.

Really cool idea and implemented well, overall great stuff. Only thing I can suggest is more variety for audio/music, more misc art added, such as a background poster on the wall, but really nothing crucial for the jam I am just trying to come up with suggestions. Great game! :D

I like how creative the game is. I can throw the baby to space lol. It looks like it's gonna be a fun multiplayer game. It reminds me of Overcooked. I also like how you make a simple task like taking care of babies and adding some science fiction stuff to it like robots and space. I find it very hard to understand how changing of diapers work. Babies crying also get to become annoying but I get that, it gets the players' attention. Aside from that, the humor is there, the controls is perfect, speed is perfect. I will definitely play it again and see what happens if I reach the timer's end.

This was a cool take on the theme. For some reason, when I became a father, I'm unable to see the message "Baby: blahblah has died" without thinking of my own kids and getting queasy. Haha.

Great game though! Definitely close to how it feels with multiple kids, would be nice to have a way to craft diapers, although you're in space with zero communication to the outside world.

We streamed your game with Danae: [link to Twitch VOD](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/598538752?t=00h07m47s) (approximate timestamp)

Well done, very Overcooked-like. Swapping items could have been a nice improvement (for example, interacting with a washing station that has finished while holding dirty diapers could swap the two items). The clutter is to be expected in a chaos management game like this, although I am not so sure about the walls obscuring a lot of the view. While playing I think I noticed that the "need" indicator for a baby showed one need (change diapers), then it switched to the more recent need (feed) – but immediately after feeding the baby it showed the less recent need, now in red. I think more recent needs should never obscure less recent (more urgent) needs!

Great game! one of the my favorite takes on the theme yet. The camera was a bit weird at first and its a bit to hard to grab stuff but those were my only problems. everything else was solid!

@emmyoop failed as in you could not play it, or you could not even download it? Because somebody else had a problem downloading the game before and it seemed to have been itch's fault. So if that's the case maybe just try again.

And since I am writing a comment now anyways I want to thank everybody who has so for rated and played my game! This is the most fun I had watching people play my game in a long while and I am actively working on the game because of that, so thank you. Here come the @'s:

Not particularly unique, but that isn't your fault. The music and sound design was great, but the "alarm" which I take it was just you going "brrr brrr brrr" gave me a jumpscare. But it was very resourceful! I had fun playing it, although I had no Idea what I was supposed to do

Great game! I managed to get to the end but got a very bad grade because i had not enough time to clean all of my garbage. One area you could improve is perhaps making it either impossible to throw out a diaper or make it Game Over when you throw out a diaper, without the second diaper it would be very difficult :P

Super fun! The music and sound effects are amazing and graphics is just top notch :ok_hand: That's an incredible amount of details and polishing you put there, nice job! I mean, take the "Instructions" screen - such a minor thing, but looks and feels completely polished. This might as well be the best-looking game of the jam I've played so far. Well done!

P.S. My God, screaming babies are annoying

This is fun and funny! I like how frantic it becomes, really throws you into the fire right off the bat. No slow tutorials, perfect! I didn't bother reading the instructions until after I played a few times. It wasn't too hard to figure out what to do after a bit of trial and error. The game loop is fast so it's easy to experiment and figure things out. I also thought the sounds were fantastic. Nothing gets you motivated to do the work like the grating sound of a crying baby, right? Good job on this!

With additional work it may be nice co-op game. Babies crying out my brains. And this dramatic music.

Great touch making a co-op mode! Managed to get through with a D grade. It's kind of hilarious how you can tell all the sounds were made with mouth noises. Gameplay is smooth, and unlike overcooked, you can actually work your way around your partner rather than constantly running into eachother
