Scandinavian Settlement Skirmish

Ye wanna set out for adventure my friend? Well then, your crew's all set to ensure the continents will bow to your voice. So grab your mug of mead and... oh wait? Where'd it go? You're sayin’ we got no more provisions left? Gives me the willies. Well then, chop chop, with an empty belly the adventure won't be a pleasure. Find some resources, hunt for food and set out for adventure to new land again. Build, eat, sail and repeat. We drink, we sing, we never can sleep.

put more da 1300 meters between me and death but I couldn't find any isalnd. I looked in different directions. The music is very entertaining but I missed something I think :(

@tommyflower Sorry about that. We just uploaded a new build. There were two gamebreaking bugs in the game. Normally you should see an arrow pointing in the direction of an island (as in the picture above).
We had a bit of a struggle with this entry. It's not quite as polished as our last one. ^^
Happy to see you again! Can't wait to give your game a try. :)

@awesomealliterationalliance thank you! I played again and found the islands. Once there it was fun and satisfying :) still a bit awkward that when you sail you see meters to death decreasing feeling that you should not go in that direction, even if the next island is there. That was a bit confusing to me. I had fun playing it. Forgot to say that I was mesmerized by the sea texture. Very cool!

I liked this game a lot, it is very well made, I think I found a bug where I was able to place an apple farm on top of a lumber jack, but other than that is was great!

really cool game! i like the idea! I had fun playing it, it ended kind of abruptly - it'd be cool to make the trip to england sailing and at least end when we get there, or there could even be a battle? Overall very nice! Congratulations

I really dig this concept - if you had more time, it would be interesting if the boat did something while your settlement was active, maybe you could search for other islands while another one was already active. Also, having an arrow always pointing to the next island made the stakes feel kind of low since I didn't expect to be guided somewhere where 100 food wouldn't be enough to make it. Despite that, though, this was really fun, and super well made for the time you had. Great work!

Very cool entry. Glad you got the bugs figured out.
The graphics are really cool and the Audio is amazing.
One thing I would change is to give the player a maximum ammount of resources they can carry from island to island, because I was able to delay the food collection and could farm a lot of the other resources before taking of. I managed to leave the first Island with nearly 500 wood and 27 extra workers (that don't even consume food anymore on the new Island)
Also you can't die from food on the island it just goes negative.
Generally the gameplay is hardly challanging at all.
So really solid basis, but the gameplay needs some polish.

In the beginning I was a little confused, I couldn't understand that I just need to collect a certain number of food on the first island. I didn't see a stone there and thought it was a bug. After several restarts I accidentally waited until the right moment and then everything went fine! I really enjoyed this game, I love Scandinavia so this is my perfect setting. Of course I want the game to be bigger, but in this form it's already absolutely solid. Plus for graphics and music!

Those drums are legit, and I love how even the credits are in theme. I also found myself thinking ahead, like if this island has iron ore, we should make lots of axes in case the next one doesn't, etc, and kinda thinking like I'm leading a band of explorers. That was really cool!

Nice economy settlement mechanics! On my first island, once I clicked on trying to make a Stone Mine, I couldn't click on anything else. There was no stone, but the game wouldn't let me pick an Apple Farm or anything else. Luckily, I was slowly accumulating apples, so I survived!

Very nice concept! I restarted the game once because i thought that my island is broken because i didn't have stone on it but it turns out i just had to get enough food to sail to next island that was a bit unclear... also there is that bug or just broken controls which causes that changing the building we trying to build is a bit annoying. The game idea can lead to really intresting gameplay if you will work on it outside the jam : )

And graphics are great!

Nice game, really enjoyed it overall. If I had to give an advice, it would be that you should have chosen a more lisible font.

I like the basic growth and RTS patterns.
After dying the first time I immediately went and tried again!
If I could make one suggestion: Sometimes the next island is far away enough that I run out of food before getting there. I didn't really enjoy having my game end this way. Seemed like I'm playing a builder-sim and then my game is over from this completely different gameplay mechanic.
Really liked the art, and props to the drum beater. :)

Very nice basic city builder game. I enjoyed the growth and that you don't have to wait forever for things to happen :)
