Tribal Offerings

Tribal Offerings is a chill god game / strategy game about providing tribes with the resources they need to live. Tribes will in return provide you with offerings allowing you to create more resources.

How To

There will be 3 different tribes (Blue/Water, Green/Wood, Yellow/Ore) that will appear soon after you've placed their corresponding resource. Their inhabitants will wander around during the day to bring back resources to their tribe's houses, then after a hard day of labor get to bed at night. Each tribe is independant, meaning they require all types of resources to survive. They're also not really friendly, as in if members of two different tribes cross each other's path they will fight.

There are 3 types of resources, each of them being necessary for the tribes' survival. :

Water : Drinking is healthy and required for a tribe's population to survive and grow.

Wood : Wood could be considered as houses' water, being used to maintain existing houses and allowing for new houses to be build. More houses in a village will allow for an higher population limit.

'Precious' Ore : Ore is used to make offerings to the divinity, allowing you to place more resources for them to get. Each tribe will provide you with a specific type of resource.

To place a resource, click on the corresponding resource icon then on the ground. The number of each resource you can place is indicated next to the resource's icon/button.

Each tribe's survival is dependant on the others' as if one of the tribe came to disappear their corresponding resource would not be able to be generated anymore. The key is to manage an access to all three types of resources for each tribe without having them annihilating each other.

It's an awesome entry, nice job guys, i passed my last hour to try all the different possibilities for the development of my tribes ahah I love the random generation of the map, it's something that add some sugars on each new run. Your day/night cycle and his lights effects is so beautifull and smooth, it's really realistic. I love the cartoon design of our believers, it's pretty fun ! This concept reminds me a lot of another god game, especially Populous 3 and i really appreciate that. To be pernickety, maybe the time for the round is too small, i see all of my tribes dying too quickly, a problem of my tribes management ? I don't know ahah Good luck for the future !

Fyi, when I play webgl version in embedded mode, top ui is outside of the screen. When switched to fullscreen mode, the problem is solved.

I really enjoyed this game. Graphics are awesome and artistic (especially the terrain). As a god game fan, I really appreciate this entry. Good job.

My tribes were immediately killed by the blue guys :) The character animations are great.

I didn’t understand something, I built a village, people dragged water for some time, chopped trees, mined ore and actually died of dehydration, what is the rational meaning?

The core gameplay idea is exceptionally clever, and the graphics/music is quirky and well executed.

As a few other commenters above I found that surviving the first couple of days was very tricky (perhaps even requiring a bit of luck), but when I did manage it then going on to maintain a steadily growing population was largely straightforward. It's nothing that a tutorial, a late-game objective/threat and/or possibly a balance tweak couldn't adjust though, if you wanted to work on the game further.

Thanks for the game, I had a lot of fun :)

@aycan Modified the web player's size on Itch.io, solved the problem. Thanks for the issue report.

@aquanim The game's balance is definitely one of first things that should be worked on if we happen to update the game. We didn't manage to keep enough time for proper playtesting and balancing, with the early being too hard (it should be easy to get tribes to survive the first days and maintain their size/grow a little bit) and the 'late' game too easy as the tribes could basically grow forever in the current state once you've got a good run going.

I really like the idea and it's fun to play. I'm not certain if there is no end goal but I couldn't reach it which was something that I missed. I also hoped that after one of the tribes dies they would still reappear in a day or so at the location where there is the most of their resource type - did not happen. Other than that I really enjoyed playing it - this is for now the jam game that kept me playing the longest as it really pulls you in :)

Very nice game, a lot of mechanics for such a small team. Love the camera control (although when you rotate, release of pan doesn't get recorded so camera will continue panning, but it's minor). Nice music, and I weirdly like the day/night cycle execution. Good job. Also well done on 20 reviews. My tribes didn't live for too long :(
