Hello and welcome to Spartan From Scratch!

There are a few issues currently where the coins don't carry between levels, the icons are not showing on the combo's and a few other nasty glitches but as far as I know the game is functional...

You will need a gamepad to play it properly. PC build only right now at submission hour.

UPDATE 8/10/19 10am BST - Game Requires a GAME PAD TO PLAY! I Should add support for PC controls but I ran out of time. I think you can probably tell that time ran out about half way through level 4 ;)

Bug fixes incoming for the crash, icon issue and block movement

Thinking of making a post jam version as there was supposed to be combat and enemies but as I am sure you can all tell, I ran out of time at the 4th level! Will have a think about it.

When I started a game, it stuck on main menu (press A to start) because my laptop isnt powerful enough to start a game, but I heard your music and it is great :)

I was surprised at how much I did enjoy this. I didn't have a controller so I made do with a keyboard for as long as I could but when I reached the block that I needed to break I was unable to destroy it.

The character felt nice to move around and the music and few sound effects tied it all together. I was really eager to get continue but anyway well done and thanks for the fun :D

@designernap - Who were voice acting the player??? It was the BEST voice I ever heard!!! You know this game was so
beautiful!!! I think at the end of game you have Shield, sword and protection, I thought there going to be some kind of boss, or gladiator fight with that Spartan at the beginning of game, I think if you had more time you can implement the use of this features at the end, but overall game was fun :D

@aret24 Thanks! It was me! :D I did all the graphics and voices and everything. Sped it up and played with it to make it sound different but yeah, 48 hours compo means only me working on it :D I totally ran out of time on the 4th level so just threw in the last few power ups and left it. There was supposed to be enemies and everything but ah... not enough time. Might make a post Jam version :)

Graphics and world design feel great, chracters' models are really funny and grotesque but they fit the whole idea - just like sound effects. Also ongratulations for making working stairs! I tried to do it on last LD and i failed...

Cool little game enjoyed it a lot, art style is simple yet very cool. gamplay was fluid, music was cool too. The sound effects were a bit load making them annoying especcialy when picking up coins. Great job overall!

I had dreams of multiple combos and enemies that didn't quite fit in the time!

Okay, I was sure that I would be allowed into the arena, damn :) This game is really solid, everything works as it should, everything is smooth and cool, I love it. You made music music and sounds yourself, didn't you? Amazing :) I just wish there was more to it!

Really nice art! Solid backgrounds and everything. I love the camera transition to the sign at the end of level 1, haha.

@daria-toni that was the plan! There was supposed to be an arena and all sorts but... just didn't manage to fit it in.

@randomnine Ah thanks :) I maybe spent too long on that polish an ddidn't make it to the rest of the game...

- Graphics are cute and pleasant. I loved it!
- Music is simple but doesn't get annoying and fits the theming. Nice loop.
- The voice just made me laugh so much it became my favorite game, I was not expecting that.

Awwn man, the only bad thing is that this game comes to an end! I was so excited with the sword and shield, it is a shame I didn't get to use those. I really wish to see more of this, where it leads, and what I can buy with all those coins. Awesome game, good job!

This is legit. Agree with what's been said before, I like the graphics, music, funny sound effects.
If you're making a more "finished" version, message me somewhere. I'd like to check out how you'd continue this when adding more content and actual enemies.
