Welcome to SpaceShift, where you start with nothing, but will end up shifting the space and acquiring powerups to traverse your environment. Your goal? Collecting all of them Blue blobs, simple as that!

NOTE: Each time you click the |> button, a random level will be selected for you from the 3 available maps, or a 4th one which is completely procedural. The procedural map is not meant to be a proper level, instead it is just for having fun with platforming around. If you get it the first time, we highly advise to randomize a new level for your first play!

How to play

SpaceShift is a First Person 3D platformer, where your goal is to collect the Blue "stars" in each level. You can race against the clock if you wish - the countdown timer will stop once all the Blue blobs have been collected! You can then open up the Quickmenu with Escape and click the |> button to randomly select another level or use a console command if you really with to play a specific map (see Console Commands below).

* The platforms are intentionally hidden. You start with nothing. They will stay visible after you stand on them. Also the blue blobs create a Sonar-like ping to reveal them. *

You will start the level in emptiness and will need to acquire your Jump (purple), Dash (green) and Double Jump (yellow) abilities to help you in your quest of Blue Powerup hoarding. Have fun!

Controls

| Keybinding | Action | |--------------|-------------| | WASD | Move | | Mouse | Look Around | | Space | Jump | | Shift | Dash | | Space Repeat | Double Jump | | Escape | Quickmenu |

Console Commands

You can open up the console with the ~(tilde) key and use the following console commands

| Console Command | The Result of the Command | |-----------------|-----------------------------------------------------------------| | RestartLevel | Restarts the current level | | Quit | Quits the game immediately | | Open Level00 | Opens the procedural freestyle map that is meant for practicing and random fun | | Open Level01 | Opens Level 1 | | Open Level02 | Opens Level 2 | | Open Level03 | Opens Level 3 |

Nice art style! I really liked how the music gained more depth with each new ability added. The material of the boxes glitched out quite often though, appearing the disapearing again, making me almost die multiple times. All in all, I really like the aesthetic, fun game in general!

@danny88881 actually the material of the boxes is intentionally hidden. You start with nothing. They will stay visible after you stand on them. Also the blue blobs create a Sonar-like ping to reveal them. Thanks for playing!

WOOOOOW Awesome. The music, the mistery, the mechanics. The best things are most simple. I would love to see this game developed further!!!

Loved it ! The music is awesome, totally in sinc with the graphics ! The concept is well within the theme and the controls are great ! Took me some time to realize the dash could help me go higher though ^^' Great game ! I don't know if it's meant to be that way but once I got the 15 blue stars in the first level it did not automatically load the net level.

Love the art style. Always a huge fan of the 80s vector graphics style. Audio goes well with the game. I will say it was kind of confusing getting dropped into what I assume is a 'for fun' level that's completely randomly generated boxes as my first level. After restarting and getting a standard level layout, it was a lot of fun. Game has a lot of potential as a fps runner game like deadcore.

Excellent job.

@daitse yeah, I ran out of time and did not make a proper level selection UI (hence why the console was left in to switch manually for people). However I did leave the level not load the next after getting all the blogs so that players can jump around have have fun in the fully revealed map. Thanks for playing!

@boats Yup, the bane of randomized level load. It seemed like a nice idea at the time, not sure anymore :D Still, left in the console commands for manual swap. Thank you for the commends and the play! Stay tuned, we already came to a decision to extend this game a lot!

Awesome, I like the visual. The sound is good. But I didn’t manage to change my keyboard layout to use zasd like on azerty keyboard, it really hurts. But really good game

Pretty good solid foundation. For sure have a game you can continue working on if you're looking for a new project.

I really like it ! The challenge and logic to get blue stars were great, but my favorite part in the game is the music. What a great idea of playing only one music, but with different paterns that you unlock through new skills. Love it ! One of my favorite game for this game-jam. Congrats !

Thank you for the rating and your time for trying out our game @veeti-sundqvist @drjeebus @feingehacktes @bustosman @hadesfury and @sir-galloy-de-fierpate ! I'm glad you enjoyed it. We certainly plan on expanding on this with a variety of things, but the evolving music is definitively staying as one of our core functions. I had a blast developing the system and @sloe did an awesome job at composing the music itself. :)

Nice music and choice of colors in the game. Unfortunately I suffer from motion sickness when I play smooth floating FPS games so I could only play your game for a few minutes. Still, I like the idea of adding abilities and having the short range of view to create a navigational puzzle.

I really like the potential of this! :) I definitely think the game is more suited to your intentional level design, as I kind of enjoyed this as a puzzle game moreso than a 3D platformer. Figuring out how to get past obstacles by either dashing around or underneath them almost gave me a 3D Celeste kind of vibe!

I do think that the dash effects were a *bit* too pronounced to the point where it made it difficult for me to judge exactly just how far I'd dash when I hit the button. But otherwise, the game looked fantastic! And the adaptive music was top notch :ok_hand: Nice job!
