Amazing work for 3 people in 3 or less days. A very enjoyable game, and a great entry for this LD.

I may just be stupid, but I could not move the character with w or s nor the arrows keys. I like the concept of storing your spells in f# keys, but I did not figure out how to do that either. Great art and solid concept though.

Hey ! thanks for the feedback !
It's simple, and explained in the "How to" tab, you must write "up" and "down" as you did with the spells to move up an down.
When you'll beat a fair number of enemies, you'll be able to store spells ;)

Lovely game with nice graphics and an interesting way of approaching the theme. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I did encountered an odd bug a couple of times where my typing stuff did not produce any spells at all - then after death, things started working again. Still, that aside, the experience was smooth and entertaining. Congrats!

Good game.
High degree of completion.
But It's also confused me that I can't move with the arrow at the beginning.

A lovely game with a nice core gameplay, however, there are some problems.
1. Buttons in menu aren't distinctive, first time I thought they are just text.
2. The beginning of the gameplay is a little bit hard.

Hey! Just finished playing this, and I need to say that this is legit a good game! The music fits the game perfectly and the audio overall is high quality. Art diresction and graphic design is also top notch. Audio and graphics make a real nice combo here. Also I loved the fact that you had to type your spell into the box (the text clipped outside the writing box sometimes btw). It made that a lot more interactive than just possibly having to click on a button. Oh and the arrow keys didn't work for me in the beginning, but that wasn't a big deal to me. A really good game guys!

@raffe @artyom-volkov Thank you very much for the feedback ! The movements, as well as the spells, are made by you tapping "UP" and "DOWN" in the dialbox. This can be confusing, sorry it wasn't clear for you
Thanks again !

Good game ^^
I ended up with my nose on my keyboard because I can't write shock correctly and decided to memorize all the other spells first xD.
But i always thought a gameplay (typing to launch spell) like that would be cool but never went and tried to implement it, so I'm happy to see a good and working example on what you can do with it :)

@yohsk13 As a programmer, I wanted to create a typing game since a long time too, finally got the opportunity to do it ! Happy that you enjoyed it !

Cool stuff, though it bugs out on linux when you get to the point where you need to memorize a spell.

@svipal Hey ! We couldn't test on Linux sadly, how did it bugged? Did you tryed to type the spell names in lowercase?

@ekin Hey again ! In the how to, the button in the bottom right corner doesn't work ? And the character did you wrote "UP" and "DOWN" in the dial box ? Just wondering, cause I'm on Mac too and everything works...

@ekin first time hearing of these bugs, the programer check it out but we don't know where it comes from... There's a new version of the game arriving in a few minutes, maybe this will work :)

You guys did a great job wit this game. Even with my sausage fingers I was able to enjoy the game. I also like that Turbo Graphix 16 era art and feel. Cool music as well. The only downside was it was hard to see the first letter of the word I was typeing. This was fullscreen at 1920 x 1080. Good job guys!

The music was really nice and I enjoyed the typing experience of the game. The first spells I memorized were up and down. But I really liked being able to cast spells by writing them. It's a neat concept :D
I did have a bit of confusion with the UI feedback, so I'd recommend making it more obvious that something is currently being highlighted so people know it's clickable. It wasn't much of an issue, but good to iron out

I like the idea, and even though it felt a bit repetitive, it was a nice experience. I love the art and animations. Simple yet beautiful :) Good job

Really nice idea for the theme. I think it would be cool if one could choose the key a spell is bind to and to autocast spells if a given key is pressed, this of course would change the game a fair bit and might not reflect your intentions.

Btw. my score is 6458

This is a beast of a game!
So first of all I love the difficulty curve of the game, you guys really manage to balance between "slow ennemy but writing all the stuff is long" and "fast ennemy but you just have to press keys". It's sooo well paced that I got caught really early and couldn't stop until I reached 5k points!
The art is well done, both visually (that animation on the robe <3) and the audio.
The concept is great, althought I have to say the relation to the theme is a bit far-fetched.
Kuddos to the team!

I loved the graphics, the music is nice as well. Difficulty seems rather well balanced for a game jam entry. The theme and gameplay are originals, congrats !

Great art and music. Really enjoyed this! Always good to see typing games :)

Main criticism would be having to click on the text box to memorise a spell was a bit un-intuitive for a typing game, I'd expect not to have to touch the mouse.

Otherwise great work!

This is fun. Though I couldn't find any secret spells. hmmmmm. I mean. there probably aren't any. But what if there are...

@akronsus
The first version had a "instant cast" mechanic, but we thought it was weird to entirely suppress the "typing" experience. So we replaced it by "instant prompt" instead.

@almax
You are totally right. That's small details that we couldn't improve, due to a massive game breaking bug one hour before deadline...

@iak
Yeah... That would be sooooo cool, nah? :P

And thank you all for playing and your quality feedbacks !

The game is quite interesting, using a fast typing form to have mastery with the game, I liked the style, it's very dark.
