The Elevator by Orion Five

[raw]
made by Orion Five for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

Description

You find yourself in a mysterious hotel with an elevator that can only go up.

Can you uncover its secrets and find the tools you need to escape?

The Concept

We started with the concept that we want to build an infinite elevator that lets the player explore the floors and rooms of a cursed hotel. The player has to acquire various tools and hints that let him solve simple puzzles to progress through the game. The theme comes back in the player's quest to find all the tools he needs, starting with none.

Reality

We only did two days of the jam. Making a first person game is always a daunting task, so we struggled to get very far with the game. We already cut corners using some code and assets from a previous jam. But setting up a good mood, proper puzzles and making all the rooms turned out to be quite time consuming. We might continue working on this game for another jam or as a vacation project.

So what you will be able to play is a good indication of the mood, with one puzzle (although it's a dead end) and the elevator mechanic working too. Take a look around. Maybe you like it :)

Use WASD to move, the mouse to look around, left mouse to interact and space to jump.

Very spookie, and appreciate the attempt for a 1st person game! Found that I could loose items in walls, and worry that I may or may not end up loosing key items in walls, good game tho

Quite the spooky game! Having to spam the lever to get to the right floor was a bit of a pain, but an incredibly feat in such a small time. Loved the sound design and music!

@indiebin holding the left mouse button will let the elevator accelerate into oblivion 😉
