Damned Souls - Raising Blood

After months of hiding, your escape from Mephistopheles’ hellish domain ended as soon as it began. Battered and bruised, you’re thrown back into your cell by the archduke’s minions, in a tower on the outskirts of the seventh circle of hell.

Armed with nothing but your wits, determination and unending hatred for your captors, you resolve to escape, even if it means drowning the whole underworld in the blood of your unholy enemies.

Rise through the hordes of demonic creatures. Ride their blood to the top of the tower. Escape this hell.

WASD to move, click to use the currently selected weapon. Change between weapons with keys 1-5

The spear can be thrown: right click to prepare, and click to throw.

As you mow down the waves of enemies summoned to kill you, the entire tower is flooded in blood. Use the rafts to ascend higher and higher, and escape

Pretty cool game in the style of old fps. Didn't run very well on my laptop but I still had fun. Has some clipping issues but that kinda stuff is to be expected for short projects like these.

nice game reminiscent of the Quake or Unreal era.

Really cool style, mixing pixel art and 3d. I liked different weapon types and the concept of gathering a huge pool of blood to take you upwards. Great interpretation of the theme. :)

Heyo! Great work there guys! I did have lots of fun, its a challenging one. The feels that the chosen aesthetic gave me were very pleasant, and the ambience with the music did wrap it up nicely. I didn't understood the mechanics for the blood to damage the player, was it intentional for the player to get out of the pool quickly as possible to keep the game flowing? Nice job!

I'm a huge fan of classic style gaming, so already I am in love with this. Feel gets a big thumbs up from me as well.

The game pretty cool. However the game has low performance even on my machine. On the other hand, the music and setting is pretty cool. Good job

A retro mode game really very fun, I took a lot of fun! but after I have fun rush and the mobs spawn no more ... other small note the objects of care blocks passages if you are already full life, it will be necessary to trigger them instead of collider

I just wanted to ask if maybe a linux build would be possible (of course only if unity makes it to be not much of a hassle). I really like what I see in those screenshots and would love to have a go at the game. Thank you!

The idea was interesting. Reminds me of daggerfall :D
Best part: sprites were good, and the whole 3d world with sprite characters thing has a cool retro feel.
Worst part: I spent way too much time glitching around the level geometry.

simple and fun). Interesting but pretty hardcore mechanic - after successful stage clear you cant relax, and must search exit as fast as possible.

Good overall, lots of content, enjoyable hexen/doom homage.

I really liked the variety in enemies, not a huge fan of the animated delay on throwing a spear, and I extremely dislike the blood mechanic, honestly not sure what the point of punishing the player for killing enemies and exploring the level is. Those are the two most important things in a doom clone.

Overall very good, but taking continual free damage from the floor hurts it severely.

Style of your game is amazing! Doom-like-mood is always a plus for me. Great atmosphere of hellish madness. Suitable music. Controls are quite responsive. But I couldn't get to the end. I ran out of ammo or I got lost (I don't know how tbh). But it was really fun to play!

Killing to fill rooms with blood to raise the level was a cool idea!

Great idea and execution, loved the weapon improvements, the level and enemy design, and the rising pool of blood was also a really nice concept. Didn't quite make it out (I've forgotten my classic Doom/Hexen/Heretic skillz), but a good run anyway!

One criticism I have is that especially the book covers a bit too much of the screen, even when it's not in use. Makes it a bit hard to aim/see with it. But that's a minor niggle.

Loved how killing the other prisoner started the music xD Nice touch.

Great job for Ludum Dare I like different weapons and monsters, but from my point of view, the level is too small it should be more spacious.

Great game! I like the "old FPS" atmosphere (it reminds me Blood). As others say, when you use the books, they cover a big portion of the screen, but is quickly solvable. Overall, good job!

Great Entry. Was unable to beat it though cause I kept getting trapped, and occasionally demons wouldn't spawn. Not sure why the blood hurt you? But very impressed with what you have given this was a jam game.

Very Noice game. Gives a nice nostalgia ride and also has a new feeling to it thanks to the theme being different from the usual shoot-em-ups.
