Inkblot Shade by PTSnoop

InkblotShade3.gif

An abstract downtempo moving-around-and-dodging-things game.

You are the small blob to the left of the screen. Click and hold the mouse button to move around. Each time you make it from one side to the other without falling into any larger blobs, you get one point. Post your high scores in the comments.

Or you could just sit there and stare at the gently shifting inkblot patterns. Either are good.

I will admit, this had more to do with the theme when I started coding it. But it still kinda fits, maybe?

EDIT: Turns out I had a GLSL undefined-behaviour bug giving some laptops game-breakingly large blobs. I've pushed out a bugfix release.

I love the music and the chill vibe the game has. Theme could maybe have been more present by starting with less Ink / no Ink in the beginning? But it's an awesome game anyway. :D

I got to 4. Very chill and pleasing game. Cool goo and relaxing music. I'm not sure if it's exactly on theme but it was fun nevertheless. Definitely deserves more love.

Prety cool, liked the jazzy music. Would be cool to see a video on how you did the shader / fx.

Don't know how transferable it is to Android etc, but would work well on mobile.

Loved the music, loved the way shapes change. Kinda wish for more fluent ink transition, but there is definitely a nice vibe to the way if shifts now. Game really asks for an agar.io style, but with ink.

The music fits the art perfectly. It's a really simple game but it works well, not sure what more could be added to it really. Nice work.

I really like the jazz music and abstract art style. If your traveling fast you can go through the smaller blobs without failing, not sure if thats a glitch or not. Definately a cool concept to expand upon.

I like how it sucks you gently into the dynamic-blobs that's a nice touch. music is cool. Gameplay is a bit lacking, it kinda feels like it was art-piece forced into game.

I love the gravitational pull effect when you near the other blobs! Countless times I'd be damn near another point and a blob would appear underneath me where I couldn't see it, costing me the game. I'm not sure there's a fix for that, though, aside from safety-checking for the player's position before spawning blobs.

I thought it was gonna be an arty game just sit and observe type but I really like the simple gameplay here and relaxing music.
